I am the Chosen One.
nogodnomasters23 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Mette and Byokke have survive the zombie apocalypse in Siberia. The cold winter freezes zombies in place until they thaw. They are forced to leave their shack and they team up with Dora. Mette has been shot twice (once by each of them) in error. They get information about Semyon, a man working on a cure and a vaccine. They seek him out to save mankind.

It was a light zombie drama-horror. Mette is a slight dimwit who thinks Dora has a crush on him.

The film is in Yakut, a Russian dialect spoken by about 380,000 people if the Internet is correct. It has English subtitles and no menu options other than chapter selection.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Well worth the subtitles!

Well made zombie movie from the Far Eastern Russian area. Good acting, good camera work, few funny spots too. Location gives good look at areas not seen in movies. I gave it a 9 because if you like zombies this is worth watching. Plus the Amount of effort they put into the film needs to be recognized.

A good film.

I liked this film. A fresh take on Zombie movies in many ways. It's set in eastern Russia, an area most of us know nothing about. A solid script, good acting and a professional director. Back to the basics. The story creates a believable world with characters we care about. We care for their safety. I can't say that about many Zombie flicks. It achieves quietly what most big budget, effect driven films do not. It keeps us in the films world. I have many questions about this world and the film doesn't try to answer them all. Use your imagination.

Don't wanna be, all by myself, anymore...

It's a low budget movie but it's fun, funny and worth watching even if you need to read the entire movie. There's a lot of subtle jokes that make it funny and the way they act and talk to each other is hilarious at times. There's a lot of bad zombie movies out there but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this one.

Actually a good movie and not just a zombie movie

I am very happy to find this movie by accident. With a great story and very good acting, the movie felt just about right for about 90 minutes.

Just like any good movie, the characters are the most interesting part of the film and it will not take long to be emotionally invested in their life's.

I love zombie movies
mrwompwomp22 August 2021
The movie is in English subtitles, but I love foreign films & love watching different approaches on zombie films. When I was 7 years old, I would sneak to the living room to watch midnight fright night. I fell in love with a film called " Night of the living dead " (now this was in black & white) my first zombie movie ever.

Although zombies seem a little old school, I felt like the film had humor, action & a romantic side to the film. I'm not a critic, actor, producer or director of any films. If you love zombie films,it's worth watching

Watch it for yourself.

Good Knife in Zombie Head Action in the Post Apocalyptic Future...
moedeb-4865316 July 2023
I enjoyed this film. I enjoy Zombie movies and this one was a good addition to the genre. Low budget but not cheap, good script and story and the acting was top notch. Georgiy Bessonov as Byokke added some fine comic relief. Plenty of guns, ammo and knives in head zombie slaughter and tense moments. The direction and camera work is well done. The production company did a great job with the budget they had. A thoroughly well thought out and executed Zombie film. There were, in my opinion, some elements lifted from the superb book by Max Brooks, World War Z, but you'll have to discover them yourselves... Just note the title for instance... But that cross pollination only adds to the place this film holds in the Zombie universe. Also we can't rule out the Walking Dead, But Republic Z is not derivative it just places its action in the post apocalyptic Zombie future. Good job.
