When the ghost run amok in the village, terrorizing the inhabitants, they destroy the church bell tower in a fiery blast. However, at the end of the film when Tomas and Anna are leaving the village, the church bell tower is very much intact.

One of the post mortem pictures in the book the main character flips through is actually a lesser well known photograph of Lewis Carroll (autor of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland).
Despite his hazy eyes (which he has in all of the photographs he is featured in) he is very likely alive in this picture as he lived to be 65 and the picture shows him in his 30s or 40s. (dating possibly from 1875).
