When it comes to nostalgic TV shows, Avatar: The Last Airbender is unrivaled. The Nickelodeon show had an outstanding run during its three seasons from 2005 to 2008. Even though it has been 19 years since the show was premiered on our TV screens, it continues to charm its audience. The show features elements that could not be found anywhere else and for an animated series made exclusively for children was age-neutral.
Aang
With the concept of ‘bending’ the elements of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, the show’s battles were as amazing as they could be. The show’s battle sequences were greatly ahead of its time, making it a great conversation topic among fans. Despite featuring such great action sequences, the show made one grave error while featuring the battle between Aang vs Azula.

Welcome Villain Films presents two fright-fests, but tired tricks, bad acting and some head-banging repetition leads to hackneyed hokum
New horror-focused studio Welcome Villain are aiming to be the next Blumhouse, but judging by this double bill of early releases it could be a long road. Both aim to maximise low-budget returns by restricting themselves to a single location – an approach that worked very well recently for filling station ordeal Night of the Hunted, not to mention of course the apex of horror, The Shining. But in truth neither of these makes strong use of its chosen locale, and both are tired, borderline exhausted deployments of the audience-prodding, jump-scare bag of tricks.
Malum (★★☆☆☆), by director Anthony Diblasi, at least gives its backstory a bit of welly. A reworking of his 2014 film Last Shift, it sees rookie police officer Jessica (Jessica Sula) choose to work a solo shift at the old...

Kody Brown Is In His ‘Villain Era’
There have been some astounding TLC “villains” over the years. People love to hate Big Ed and, more recently, Garrick Merrifield. Over the years, viewers have really come to loathe Kody Brown though.
When fans first met the Brown family, they seemed like a fairly happy bunch. You could even argue that Kody Brown loved his four wives at that point in time. On TV, he seemed to be understanding, forgiving, and open. He was considerate and patient.

Far Cry is now a franchise that has seen twenty years of life. The first game in the series “Far Cry” was launched back in March 2004. Over the years, it has evolved from being a vibrant open-world shooter with stealth elements to games set in expansive open worlds with some light role-playing mechanics at its core.
While this series has largely remained unchanged over the years, it has still gathered a large enough fan following to justify six mainline installments and a bunch of spin-offs too. And almost all of these games have been successful. Now that this series is celebrating 20 years of its inception, Ubisoft and Sony have partnered to give their fans something very special.

HollyShorts and Goldfinch hosted several Oscar contenders in the short film categories witha special screening in London last week. Directors were on-hand to introduce their films and talk about their work. The night featured shorts from both blazing newcomers and Oscar-winning filmmakers flexing their muscles once more.

The short depicted a woman suffering disorientation, paranoia, confusion, and loss of identity in this smart exploration of new motherhood. Horror films have featured a whole lot of villains with unique appearances, from popular icons like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Leatherface to characters the average movie-goer wouldn’t remember by name. This Halloween season, the charity Changing Faces has reached out to networks and streamers to ask them to add disclaimers to horror films that feature villains with visible differences, letting viewers know the films reinforce negative stereotypes.
Here (with thanks to Variety) is the full letter Changing Faces CEO Heather Blake has sent out to request the disclaimer:
Dear Chief Content Officer,
Every year, Halloween becomes a particularly stressful time for some of those with visible differences, where villainous film characters with scars, marks, burns or conditions are often recreated as costumes, as well as becoming terms of abuse in everyday life. Harmful beliefs that scars and marks equate to evil can be reinforced through instant access to...

Exclusive: There’s been much celebratory talk here at the Tokyo Film Festival about a new dawn of internationally-minded Japanese artists led by directors such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Makoto Shinkai, and Ryusuke Hamaguchi.
One of the key creative voices often mentioned amongst this new Japanese set is Genki Kawamura, known internationally by audiences as the writer of If Cats Disappeared from the World, one of Japanese literature’s most successful contemporary novels, and the filmmaker who brought that book and titles such as Suzume, Weathering with You, and, most recently, Kore-eda’s Cannes prize-winning Monster to the big screen.
Born in Yokohama in 1979, Kawamura began his career at entertainment juggernaut Toho, where he was identified early as a promising talent. He cut his teeth on pics like Tetsuya Nakashima’s 2010 feature Confessions, which was shortlisted for the Best International Feature Oscar, and Mamoru Hosoda’s The Boy and the Beast.

Netflix’s “One Piece” has a colorful, vibrant cast filled newcomers like Iñaki Godoy, who plays as Monkey D. Luffy, and some more seasoned actors like Vincent Regan, who plays Vice Admiral Garp. A double feature of terror, The Third Saturday In October Part V sees unstoppable killer Jakkariah Harding once again stalking and butchering the football-loving residents of a small Alabama town, this time finding a treasure trove of victims after he chances upon a football watch party. And then get ready to see how the horror began in The Third Saturday In October Part I, which tells the story of Harding's death row escape...

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” (Paramount) — a franchise reboot, not a remake or sequel — provided the weekend with the fifth straight film to open to over $30 million. While not unprecedented for the month — it last happened in March 2017, with four out of five openings over $40 million, three of those over $85 million — it’s unusual. More importantly, it reflects the steady rebound of 2023.
“D&d” received better-than-expected reviews (70 Metacritic score) and a boost from its SXSW premiere, but credit also goes to built-in interest for the world-building dice game and good word of mouth (A- Cinemascore).
At $38.5 million it landed ahead of pre-release projections, although short of the $40 million that seemed possible after Friday’s returns. Saturday saw a 15 percent drop, a bit above average but hardly cause for worry. With spring or Easter break ahead for many schools, this has a chance to sustain. For exhibitors, that’s short-term good news; for Paramount,...

In the new Netflix reality TV show Perfect Match, the contestants compete in compatibility challenges with the goal of finding love. While it doesn’t look like any of the matches lasted once the cameras stopped rolling, it seems counterintuitive for any of them to show up while they had a significant other back home. However, Francesca Farago says that Chase DeMoor had a girlfriend while filming.

This post contains spoilers for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."
In both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel movies produced by other studios like Sony and Fox, there's a long history of bungling if not outright butchering great comic book villains. The Marvel Comics version of M.O.D.O.K. isn't in the same league as classic Fantastic Four baddies like Doctor Doom and Galactus, or top-tier X-Men villains like Apocalypse and Sabretooth. However, M.O.D.O.K. has been floating around in his Doomsday Chair — the hoverchair that supports the weight of his head — since 1967, and he's at least enough of a power player to have spawned his own stop-motion animated series, where he was voiced by comedian Patton Oswalt.
M.O.D.O.K. now joins the ranks of all the other poorly realized Marvel movie villains of the 2000s courtesy "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," which has made a live-action mess of him.

"The Batman" took over the box office last week, and it appears that the Riddler (Paul Dano) isn't done with us yet. What would you say if you could go back in time and talk to your 12-year-old self? Something like, “Look, kid, you do not grow up to be rich, famous or a rock star — but you do have a family and a very fulfilling life, it does get better, just hang in there, lil’ slugger”? Would you urgently yell, “Come with me if you want to live!” and then you each have a really good laugh, because you both agree that The Terminator is, like, totally awesome? Oscar-winning producer and influential motion picture executive Alan Ladd Jr., who ushered in the “Star Wars” era of motion pictures, died Wednesday. He was 84.
“With the heaviest of hearts, we announce that on March 2, 2022, Alan Ladd, Jr. died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed. His impact on films and filmmaking will live on in his absence,” his daughter Amanda Ladd-Jones, who directed the documentary “Laddie: The Man Behind the Movies,” wrote on the film’s Facebook page.
During his tenure at 20th Century Fox in the late 1970s, Ladd greenlit “Star Wars,” a $10 million sci-fi film that would become the yardstick for blockbuster movies and tentpole film franchises thereafter. He was the son of golden age film star Alan Ladd, best remembered for “Shane,” but in many ways, Ladd Jr. had a more substantial effect on Hollywood than did his famous dad.

ReviewThe script is chock-a-block with references to old Mohanlal films. Such an indulgence can be forgiven if it was limited to a few scenes, but it becomes jarring after a point. Sowmya RajendranIt’s no secret that Mohanlal has been trying to expand his market beyond Kerala for the past few years. The star, still the darling of the masses in Kerala, appears to be miffed by the reception to his recent films, particularly Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. In an interview with Manorama channel that went viral, Mohanlal can be seen praising the Telugu audience for how they reportedly “support” Telugu films and respect their stars. But is that the case here, he asks and laughs dismissively. Perhaps it is this that led director B Unnikrishnan to abandon the Oxford English dictionary used in his last Mohanlal film Villain and turn to Telugu instead. Written by Udaykrishna, Aaraattu employs not only...

To celebrate the release of A Violent Man – available now on Digital HD – we’re giving away a quad poster signed by the cast and director!
A Violent Man is Ross McCall’s directorial debut from his own script, and stars Craig Fairbrass, Stephen Odubola (Blue Story), Jason Flemyng and Zoe Tapper (Liar).
Bleak, brutal and brilliant, A Violent Man showcases a towering performance from Fairbrass, never better and riding high off acclaim from his recent string of well-reviewed thrillers including Villain and Muscle. The film sees Fairbrass teaming up again with the producers of Villain, who are also behind Boiling Point starring Stephen Graham.
The film features an impressive supporting cast including Jason Flemyng and Stephen Odubola, who is outstanding as Fairbrass’ troubled cellmate Marcus. A Violent Man is a gritty portrayal of the harsh realities of prison life, with a brooding score by two time BAFTA award-winning composer Austin Wintory.

The kitchen takes center stage in Boiling Point, a one-take wonder that thrives on the tension coursing through one night at a trendy London restaurant. The stress level may be cranked artificially high at moments, but director Philip Barantini’s follow-up to his well-received debut — last year’s East End gangster saga Villain — plunges you into the turbulence in the kitchen and out front for the same amount of time it would take to eat a good meal. Saban Films releases the UK-produced Boiling Point domestically in theaters today and on-demand November 23. The drama tied for the most nominations at the upcoming British Independent Film Awards (already converting three of those to wins in the craft categories).
