The song is still good enough - decent cover of this classic

This is the take by American rock/pop music band Weezer on the famous, maybe even epic song "Take On Me" by Norwegian band a-ha from decades ago. It was made in 2019, so really fersh and new and still scored millions of views already. I am not too familiar with Weezer anymore. I knew they have been in the industry for a long time and released their own songs too, but what caught my attention recently is mostly their covers. This one here, but even more so the one with Toto's Africa. The director of these five minutes we got here is Carrick Moore Gerety, also a prolific song writer and looking ath his body of work here on imdb quite a multi-talent apparently. What you hear in this one is Weezer, but it's not what you see. They cast actors that were around their age during the time when this is set. Still the band does perform the song. I was a bit surprised here to see a girl being part of it as I think there were no girls on a-ha. Is there one on Weezer? i am not sure. Not too important anyway. I think it is a good cover, obviously nowhere near the original, but still solid. I also liked the whole setting and atmosphere. There is some nice indie garage video touch to it all. The introduction is perhaps a bit too long for my taste, but many other criticisms I cannot come up with. I did like the way they used the same black-and-white animation technique from the original video. It could have looked bad because technical possibilities today are on a completely different level obviously, but it is working nicely with the retro touch. It is very fast and feels right. So certainly a thumbs-up from me for this one here. I don't think there is much (maybe not even any) greatness in here, but it is worth seeing and listening too for sure and I am saying this as somebody who has never been a huge fan of Weezer (even if I surely don't mind them either), so it means something. Go for it, especially if you love Stranger Things. Maybe just skip the first minute though.
