Exclusive: Fox has given a script commitment with penalty to Zoo P.D., an animated comedy from Family Guy executive producer Alex Carter, Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment.
Written by Carter, Zoo P.D. follows the police force stationed inside the eighth best zoo in California. In their attempts to handle the unruly customers and improve the park, the show hits upon a hard truth: at the end of the day, we’re all just animals.
Carter executive produces with Kaplan, Steve Michaels, Diane Galardi and Matt Alvarez. Kapital Entertainment and Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment co-produce; Kevin Marco is overseeing for Kapital.

TBS original comedy “Miracle Workers” has been canceled after four seasons, Variety has confirmed. The cancellation comes just months after the series finale aired in August.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Season 4 (aptly titled “End Times”) of the anthology comedy picked up with wasteland warrior (Daniel Radcliffe) and a ruthless warlord (Geraldine Viswanathan) as they face the most dystopian nightmare of all: settling down in the suburbs. “Together they navigate the existential horrors of married life and small-town living, all under the dubious guidance of a wealthy junk trader (Steve Buscemi),” reads the description. Previous seasons covered the Oregon Trail and the Dark Ages.
In addition to Radcliffe and Viswanathan, the series also starred Karan Soni (“Deadpool”) and Jon Bass (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”), and Karan Soni. Guest stars this season include, Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), Garcelle Beauvais (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), Kyle Mooney (“Saturday Night Live”), Ego Nwodim...

The cast of Friends used collective bargaining to level out their salaries. As an ensemble cast, they wanted to be treated as equals as their wages grew from $22K per episode to $1M. Each cast member of Friends earned around $90 million in base salary alone from the show before the addition of any backend bonuses and ongoing royalties from syndication, racking each actor up an impressive net worth. For 10 seasons, the Friends cast was considered the gold standard of sitcom television, but where do they stand financially today? Here is the net worth of the Friends cast ranked from richest to poorest.

Fox will not be moving ahead with “Welcome to Flatch” Season 3.
“While audience response was not as strong as we had hoped, we were thrilled with the creativity of the enormously talented Jenny Bicks and Paul Feig, as well as the outstanding, dedicated cast and crew they assembled,” a Fox spokesperson told TheWrap. “We look forward to collaborating with them again in the future and are thankful for all of our partners at Lionsgate, Jenny’s Perkins Street Productions, Paul’s Feigco Entertainment, BBC Studios’ Angie Stephenson and Charlie Cooper and Daisy May Cooper.”

The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. Seeking her third victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).

Hours after NBC made decisions on the bulk of its bubble comedy fare, ABC has passed on nearly all of its remaining pilots.
The Disney-backed broadcaster has passed on dramas The Hurt Unit and Judgment as well as comedies Keeping It Together (formerly Drop-Off) and Public Defenders, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Of the four drama and two comedy pilots that ABC developed this season, only the Good Doctor spinoff, The Good Lawyer, remains in contention. (Kaitlin Olson drama High Potential was previously ordered to series.)
Also remaining on the bubble are comedy Home Economics (awaiting word on a fourth season) and The Rookie spinoff, Feds (awaiting word on season two). Sources say producers ABC Signature is expected to shop medical drama The Hurt Unit, which counts Ben McKenzie and Michelle Ortiz among its cast.
Reps for ABC declined comment.

“We have to love the creative and we have to love the business model.”
That’s what Fox CEO Rob Wade told reporters Monday ahead of his network’s upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers, as he and his fellow broadcast network executives usher in a harsh new reality that confronts the nearly flatline linear ratings for pricey scripted originals.
That’s also how Wade described the decision to let 911 — Fox’s highest-rated scripted show — move to ABC for the upcoming 2023-24 broadcast season while still keeping its lower-rated spinoff, Lone Star.
Wade, who took over as CEO for Charlie Collier in October 2022, is one of few broadcast execs who carved out time for the press during upfronts week. What has historically been a busy week lined with numerous press calls and presentations for television trade press has now become an afterthought of sorts as Fox, for the second year in a row,...

For the second straight year, Fox is not releasing a fall schedule at its upfront presentation. Whenever the network does announce its plans, it will include a healthy dose of unscripted programming.
The broadcaster did release its slate of primetime series for the 2023-24 season Monday morning, and it features near parity between the number of scripted (13) and unscripted (12) shows. The latter category includes renewals for Farmer Wants a Wife and Special Forces; new game shows Snake Oil, hosted by David Spade, and We Are Family, hosted by Jamie and Corinne Foxx and from the same producers as Beat Shazam; and the returns of I Can See Your Voice, which took the 2022-23 season off, and Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, last seen on Fox way back in 2014 — when it shared space on the schedule with the first seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Sleepy Hollow.

Jamie Foxx, Hannah Waddingham, Will Arnett and “Shameless” producer John Wells are among the big names set to bring their talents to Fox’s 2023-24 programming slate. Whether the broadcast network’s next TV season will begin this fall, however, remains unclear.
In an unusual and astute turn, Fox opted to go vague ahead of their upfronts presentation to advertisers Monday, not promising new programming for the fall as the writers’ strike puts most productions on pause.
“Rather than announce a schedule today that we may not be able to meet this fall, we will hold back until we have a better handle on what programming will be available,” Executive Vice President of Program Planning and Content Strategy for Fox Entertainment Dan Harrison said in a conference call. After weeks of dropping, Magnum P.I. showed some signs of life Sunday night on NBC.
Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 8 had 3.5 million viewers and a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49, rising quite a bit among total viewers and a tenth in the demo.
If the series can rise another bit, it would be a slam dunk for renewal, but with the show going off the air until the fall soon, there's a chance it could lose some steam.
The Blacklist followed with 2 million viewers and a 0.2 rating as the final episodes continued.
American Idol was stable in the demo on ABC but down among total viewers.
The aging reality series had 4.8 million viewers and a 0.7 rating.
The Company You Keep, which is on the bubble for renewal or cancellation, had 2.2 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.
CBS aired the CMT Music Awards (5.4 million/0.6 rating), which increased in total viewers year-to-year.

In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ 60 Minutes slipped yet still clocked in with Sunday’s biggest audience, while ABC’s American Idol was tops in the demo.
CBS | 60 Minutes drew 6.7 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating, marking its second-smallest audience of the season and a demo low, but on par (at least in total viewers) with recent airings that didn’t enjoy a sports lead-in. Leading out of that, the CMT Music Awards (5.4 mil/0.6) were up in audience (to an all-time high) and steady in the demo vs. last year’s inaugural CBS telecast. Final ratings for the awards show,...
