The View’s Tuesday broadcast was one co-host short of a full panel.
At the top of the hour, just Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin sat at the show’s Hot Topics table, with Sara Haines clearly M.I.A. (She did, however, appear on Monday’s installment.) So why was Haines absent from the show? Goldberg answered that question at the top of the second segment.

Ryan Gosling took the Oscars stage to perform the “I’m Just Ken” from the Warner Bros. film Barbie. Watch the performance in the video above.
Gosling brought the house down at the Dolby Theater, where everyone was encouraged to sing along with song lyrics playing on big screens.
The actor walked through the audience and let director Greta Gerwig, America Ferrera, and Margot Robbie sing a couple of words, with Gosling’s La La Land co-star Emma Stone sneaking in there as well.
Gosling’s number at the Oscars was an homage to Marilyn Monroe’s musical number for “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

The song, co-written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, is nominated in the Best Original Song category alongside fellow film song “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

Now that the WGA strike has officially ended, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” is joining its late night counterparts in returning this October. But, it’ll be a few weeks later than the network shows.
“The Daily Show” will return with new episodes on Monday, October 16 at 11 p.m. Et/Pt. Similar to how it was operating before the strike began, the talk show will see a rotation of guest hosts, as a permanent replacement for Trevor Noah won’t take over until next year.
It remains unclear who exactly will be on that roster of guest hosts but, when the writers strike began in May, it fell right at the start of Dulcé Sloan’s week behind the desk. Michael Kosta, Charlamagne tha God, Michelle Wolf, Ronny Chieng, Lewis Black and Desus Nice were all set to host a week each after that.
Meanwhile, the search continues for a permanent host.

For the first time, UCLA’s annual Hollywood Diversity Report separated its findings between films made for streaming and those made for theatrical. The results showed that the industry’s push for diversity is making much more progress on the small screen than the big screen.
Among the top 100 original streaming films in 2022, 64% had casts that had at least 30% actors of color, compared to 57% for theatrical films. Among the top 200 highest grossing theatrical releases at the North American box office, people of color composed only 22% of lead actors, 17% of directors and 12% of writers, all of which are below record-high shares recorded by the study prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Progress for women in key theatrical roles was a bit more mixed. Female share of lead roles in 2022 fell from 44% in 2019 to 39% in 2022 while share of directors and overall cast members remained relatively flat at 15% and 40% in 2022, compared to 15% and 41% in...

Consider Mark-Paul Gosselaar one of the Found: The mixed-ish actor has joined Shanola Hampton in the aforementioned NBC drama pilot, our sister site Deadline reports.
The project is based on the fact that “in any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about,” per the official logline. Public relations specialist Gabi (Hampton) “was once herself one of those forgotten ones — and her crisis management team now make sure there is always someone looking out for the forgotten missing people. But unbeknownst to anyone,...

The Oscars has people talking in a way the ceremony has not been able to in years. Unfortunately, it is not so much about the moving acceptance speeches or elaborate production numbers but an ugly incident, in which Oscar nominee (and eventual winner) Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock after the latter had directed a not-very-tasteful joke at Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
In an interview with Deadline, Rob Mills EVP Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, discussed the incident, giving Deadline a behind-the-scenes look at the bombshell incident and its aftermath from his vintage point, overseeing the live ceremony from the control truck.

Oscar winner Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock today for slapping him onstage at the Oscars after the comedian made an unscripted joke about the actor’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith and her hairstyle.
“Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I react emotionally,” said Smith in an online post this afternoon.

Pinkett Smith has alopecia, and has been public about it, talking on TikTok about her struggles, and saying, “I don’t give two craps what people feel about this bald head of mine.” In addition, Smith apologized to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscar show producers, the Williams family and “my King Richard Family.”
