Different from its predecessor, in a good way

Warning: Spoilers
Fate/Grand Order (FGO) takes place in a much different setting, and a refreshed concept surrounding the Holy Grail. I'm glad its no longer the Hunger-Games styled competition, with the 7 servants fighting each other. FGO managed to show it can do more than that. Not your usual anime with epic battle scenes, but emotion-filled. Overally enjoyable.

Grand Order

Warning: Spoilers
Following the success in the Camelot Singularity, Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight are assigned to the last Singularity. In Ancient Mesopotamia, B. C. 2655, they embark on a mission to secure humanity's survival. Upon arrival, they learn about the three Goddesses that threaten Uruk, the Babylonian city ruled by King Gilgamesh. Ritsuka and Mash will now need to find a way to severe the alliance between the three Goddesses and stop the blood-thirsty beasts that threaten the future of the humanity.

To be honest while it is different from it predecessors I still thoroughly enjoyed. Though I do wish we knew a bit more about how Ritsaka became a master then just a guy asleep in the hallway and found by a cute girl.

Though aside from that I do like his character and his chemistry with his servant Mash. Which I am thankful that their hidden feelings for each other aren't forced like how Fate Stay/Night (2006) did with Shirou and Saber.

I am not exactly sure what timeline it is set in though it's likely own thing.

Also another problem I do feel this series did have was the fact that we only got to see the main characters meet the other masters through flashbacks so, I do kind of feel they should have handled that a bit better.

Aside from that it's a really good fate series if not my favourite.

It's a little too confusing for people whom haven't been introduced to the fate franchise or the game. But the animation and the music is amazing! Definitely worth watching

Outstanding series concerning story, characters, drama, animation and music. A great mix of serious and funny , calm and action as well as of sad and heartwarming scenes. I liked every Fate-series, but this by far the best until today. Absolute must-watch: 10 / 10 stars!

Offers a pleasant experience

It feels like every year or so, we get a Fate adaptation that fans will talk about, but some will shake their heads in disappointment while others accept it like a gift from the Gods. I'm pleased to say that Fate Babylonia managed to become a show that welcomes all viewers with open arms and one that is enjoyable from beginning to end.

I am a fgo fan and I especially love Babylonia. For me, this anime is enjoyable. It may be not good enough for who doesn't know fgo much but if you love the game, it's worth watching.

One of the best fate grand order series!
pearlymoonieben8 March 2023
This Fate series is the one of my best series in fate grand order universe and it is my most favorite series inferior to Fate zero. Although the plot of this series is not as complicated or tense as Fate Zero, but because of the storyline of each character and their relationship makes this story enjoyable to watch. Especially the story of the protagonist of this series, Gilgamesh.

Synopsis - Ritsuka and Mash take a rayshift to the Seventh Singularity in ancient Mesopotamia, circa 2655 BC, to retrieve the Holy Grail. The city of Uruk, ruled by King Gilgamesh, must fight the Three Goddesses. And the monsters that want to destroy Uruk, Ritsuka, Mash and the other Servants must fight together to prevent a cataclysm that threatens to destroy humanity.

In terms of storyline I have heard that Most people who already know the story from the game "fate grand order" before. When watching this series, you may feel bored because you already know the story before, including some parts of the story in this series that have been cut short from the story in the game, making this series unable to convey the story clearly in some parts. But for me who didn't know the story from fate grand order before, I think in the storyline is good and enjoyable. Although I was confused by the plot at some parts in the story because of some removed parts.

What is interesting to me in this series is This series tells the story of King Gilgamesh's final life in the Caster class and his relationship with his friend Enkidu. If you have watched Fate zero and fate stay night before, you may recognize this character as a cruel and savage king, but Gilgamesh is often referred to as the" king of heroes" in fate zero and fate stay night, which sounds at odds with his personality at the time, but in this fate grand order you'll see Gilgamesh as the king of heroes truly. Including the name Enkidu that he speaks out often, you will also know the story of Enkidu in this story as well.

In terms of Production I actually followed the fate series because Ufotable produced this series and I really liked Ufotable's production style. Although this series is not produced by Ufotable, who has done the fate stay night and fate zero was Incredibly well done. But this company didn't disappoint me. The quality of both 2D and 3D animation is also incredibly well done, the 2D and 3D animation is very smooth especially The beast2 monster, her movement in the scene is very smooth also the 3D model is very interesting Including the use of exciting camera angles in every scene, I couldn't take my eyes off each scene, all of which were awesome! And also the 3D animation blends very well with 2D animations.

In the end, I would recommend This Fate grand order series is one of the series that should be watched They have all feelings in one series fun, stressful, sad, and funny unlike other series that are quite tense. So, it is enjoyable to watch, And if you're a fan of Gilgamesh then you shouldn't miss it.

A mundane series with same anime prop.
zaindogar-048238 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As a long-time fan of the Fate series and games, my expectations were sky-high for this anime adaptation. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a major letdown. Following the tired tropes of typical anime, the series relied on the predictable formula of the protagonist befriending their foes, resulting in an overly simplistic resolution. Gone were the complex dynamics and moral dilemmas that made previous installments like Fate Zero and Unlimited Blade Works so captivating.

One of the biggest letdowns was the main character's personality, or lack thereof. At times, they felt like nothing more than a lifeless doll, devoid of any genuine emotions or engaging traits. It's disheartening when a central character fails to connect with the audience, leaving us detached from their journey.

While the battle animation was undeniably impressive, it became the sole saving grace of an otherwise lackluster series. The visual spectacle couldn't compensate for the diminished stakes and diminished sense of urgency that plagued the narrative. Compared to the intense and high-stakes conflicts of its predecessors, this installment felt like a watered-down version, failing to evoke the same level of excitement and tension.

Ultimately, this anime failed to live up to the legacy of the Fate series. The reliance on tired anime clichés, the underdeveloped protagonist, and the diminished stakes left me longing for the depth and complexity that the franchise is known for. It's a disheartening departure that may leave die-hard fans and newcomers alike yearning for the magic of its earlier iterations.

There are some details that are different from the source material
luviangelita25 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The phase is a little slow. It fails to show us the feeling of "How difficult and important to save humanity from the attack of Primodial Goddess." Lack of approach to each character. But main plot is good. The grapich it was god tier animation. Voice acting is another level. There are different detail that only Fate/Grand Order gamers can recognize. Its minor but can change the entire atmoshpere such as, when Gilgamesh injured, he gets in the stomach instead of heart like in the original, it was set back. But there are good detail such as Hassan I Sabbah attack the Lahmu, it was shocking even for the Fate/Grand Order gamers, in a good way. Overall it was one of the best game adaptaion anime.

Better than any other entry of the Grand Order so far
mythrydummy29 September 2023
This is the best part of Grand Order so far. The other movies are... mediocre at best. The only fate movie triology that is good is Fate Heavens Feel.

I think if they made more series instead, it would've worked better. Or just one big series with multiple seasons.

With that said, to be able to understand this TV series properly you have to watch the original Fate series first, which are

1. Fate/stay night 2. Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works 3. Fate/Zero 4. Fate/stay night Heaven's Feel

Then after that to understand how "Grand Order" started and the references in this series:

1. Fate/Grand Order: First Order 2. Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia - Initium Iter

If you watched all of those, you'll enjoy this series much more.
