Grt cast, good acting ... But slow narrative makes it a tedious watch!!
sanjubhat28 February 2022
Web Series review: The Fame Game streaming on Netflix.

#sanjuzzreviews #TheFameGame #netflixindia #madhuridixit A Bollywood superstar Anamika Anand ( Madhuri Dixit) suddenly vanishes without a trace. As her family and police launch a frantic search for the star, pieces of her perfectly scripted life are stripped, revealing the dark truths about the Bollywoods rich and famous.

First the pros .... Acting is top notch, Madhuri does full justice to her role as the aging star trying to hold on to her stardom .. the dhak dhak girl rocks again. A surprise package are Lakshvir Saran & Muskaan Jaferi who play Madhuris kids, Avi and Amara respectively. Awesome performances by these 2 as they hold their own against a cast of seasoned actors. Sanjay Kapoor and Suhasini Muley essaying the roles of Dixit's gold digger husband and overbearing mom resp give an earnest performance. Manav Kaul as her lover, superstar Manish Khanna is good too.

Now the cons... This is an 8 part series with each episode having a runtime of around 45 mins making it a tedious watch. In an attempt to add content to increase runtime the narrative slows down a lot making you go yawn yawn at times. With crisp editing, this cudve easily been a 6 part fast paced, gripping thriller web series.

And yeah .. there is a twist in the end which is nice, with poetic justice served once again.

However the major flaw is the extremely slow narrative which reduces this series from an excellent to an ok ok decent one time watch.

I'll go with a generous 3/5 for this one ....adios 🙂

A good entertaining series!!
chaithraadiga26 February 2022
I don't know why there are so negative comments, honestly I felt this is good series with combination of thriller and drama. Everyone acted outstandingly, I didn't watch the trailer and was not awaiting for it, suddenly watched this from Netflix Home Screen and it was really worth of my time.

Successfully Brings The Aura And Grace Of Madhuri Dixit
ketgup8325 February 2022
The Fame Game tells the story of the most popular actress India, Anamika Anand (played by Madhuri Dixit) who is living two lives - one of a superstar and one of a dedicated wife, mother, friend, mentor and a loner, who is forced to make choices. The main event triggers when the India's most loved star disappears all of sudden and neither her family nor her friends have any clue about it. What follows next is the hunt, investigation and interrogations which includes dark secrets and fantasies of the superstar and her beloved people.

The Fame Game, kind of, pays tribute to the shining star in every possible way by breaking into her song, Chane Ke Khet Mein, or divulging into her scene from her previous films. This will definitely be a treat to her fans.

Unfortunately, the web series starts of well but loses the focus later with wafer-thin script which could have been sharper and convincing in this eight episode glamour drama. The editing should have been tighter with few episodes trimmed down to make it a better watch. Even though the cracks start appearing in the plot, the performances of the actors will keep you hooked coupled with grandeur sets, astounding back ground score and above all - Madhuri Dixit

The Fame Game belongs to the epitome of talent, Madhuri Dixit, who shines bright in each and every scene that will make you fall in love with her.

The greed for more episodes when can be done in less
jkt200615 March 2022
It has become a trend to stretch a story beyond what it can. Totally defines the greed of the producers for earning more money. Problem is that ends up becoming a major headache for the viewer which is rather frustrating! This one started on a highly promising note with Madhuri rocking in each and every frame but the story and screenplay drag...This could have been avoided had it all been packed in a tight 6 episodes instead of 8. A good example would be Bestseller(Shruti Hassan) on Amazon Prime, perfectly finishes when it should. Dharma productions need to learn that for the upcoming ones.

What they hide behind their beautiful lives .
MovieXen25 February 2022
The Fame Game is marketed as a thriller and if you forgive the first 20 minutes or so it begins to grow but then often is watered down by family drama and bad dialogue writing at the beginning of series, you would wonder that too while watching it how those lines get through in the final cut . Getting back to the other part of the series , parts about disappearance and investigation and as story unfolds with reasons for it are much entertaining , watchable and holds you on to the screen then what goes around with other things that I found unnecessary in the story and series . Series does have its moments when story , narrative and atmosphere builds up but if you have been watching lots of thrillers and mysteries lately you would see those things and storyline coming from miles away while you might find similarities with few other movies and series made in past in English and foreign languages . Madhuri Dixit does what she does very well and fans would not be disappointed at all , Rajshri Deshpande needs special mention along with other cast members like Manav Kaul and Suhasini Mulay . If script-writing and editing could have been better it would have been one of those acclaimed series but it falls short of it .

Give it a try for Madhuri Dixit and have patience as it is that you would need . Again Rajshri Deshpande and Manav Kaul need special mention for their acting . I will go for a strong seven but I am still hesitating for an eight.

Netflix did it again
ayusht-0502128 February 2022
It's like serving a stale and bland food by an international multicuisine restaurant. The show tries to cash on the fame of Madhuri Dixit, but unfortunately makers forgot to work on the story. You feel cheated by the end of the show after dedicating many hours of your busy day on a show which yields nothing. Very stale and predictable story with a choice of very bad and undertrained actors and above all worst than anything writing. I have given rating of 4 just for the sake of "Manav kaul" because he tried to keep this sinking ship afloat. And please netflix stop underestimating indian audience in the name of thrillers, thats disrespectful.

Madhur Bhandarkar shud have been director
rrvidwans2 March 2022
Some one insider and successful director like Madhur B should have directed this. He could have made it tighter, crisp, compact may be in 5 episodes only. Episode 3,4, 5 are almost waste and drag on storey. Watch 1,2, 7, 8 only. Thats it.

An exciting 1 time watch!!
trock-2632327 February 2022
This is the story of an actress who is clinging on to her fame and her wealth despite being manipulated by her own mother and husband.

Madhuri as the centre piece of this whodunit puzzle is convincing, rest of the senior support cast is good but most of the heavy lifting is done by new stars who play Madhuri's children and an obsessed fan.

Their struggles around her fame and their own vulnerability as well as sense of entitlement is very well portrayed / captured on screen.

Overall the show is good with a wonderful twist in the end!

It is the young actors who shine bright in this series and elevate it a few notches from passable to an exciting 1 time watch.

Madhuri is why I gave it a chance
persian-belle28 February 2022
I forced myself to sit through 5 episodes and fell asleep during the 6th!

I am a fan of good Bollywood films and appreciate Madhuri's acting. This series came recommended from 2 people, so although I have reservations about Netflix-made movies and series, I gave it a try. (The only Netflix-made series and movie I have appreciated are The Haunting of Hill House, and Things Heard and Seen.)

Unfortunately I can't connect to any characters, root for the missing heroine to be found or feel any kind of pull to keep watching. Very bland. Not good writing. They may have had a grand vision in terms of message, however it gets lost in the mess of too many characters and a rather chaotic storyline.

No; I have better things to do with my time.

It belongs to Madhuri dixit only
mohinderchugh25 February 2022
As expected The fame game rides on the shoulders of strong and convincing acting of Madhuri Dixit only. This series clearly narrates how ugly is Bollywood behind the glittering glamour world. It is not exactly a thriller but more of Drama with some mystery and thriller element. In case you are Fan of Madhuri Dixit than it is must watch but in case you are not Madhuri fan and want to watch thriller or Mystery than there is lot to watch on OTT.

Very Well product but not for stereotype people., Season two will be more interesting

Must watch it's roller coaster ride. Madhuri Dixit multidimensional acting is something only she can perform, must watch. All other star cast is also very good.

Well played!!!!
sameerlodaya26 February 2022
Sameer Lodaya

The makers have created a good game and every one from top to bottom have played really well in all aspects.

The game is all about how the fame is safeguarded..madhuri being the key player have taken the series on the upper leagues with her high range performance..Manav kaul was extraordinary with his bipolar character..the new age kids muskkan lakshvir along with Gagan gave strong performances...Suhasini and Sanjay played good negative roles..rajshri was a true and hard cop..HATS OFF to sri rao who directed the whole game, took the best potential from every character in a clean balanced way..the aesthetic were class apart along with colourful costumes and out of the blue locations..the aura of richness and fame was well created

The series goes well in pace with mild twists ,turns , soothing music, great stars ,all this kept enhancing..the negative part was humour which was missing with some unnecessary bold and crime scenes were shown.

Watch this for new content ,extravaganza lifestyle and how a star protects her FAME.

For Madhuri Fans
nehagupta-9524626 February 2022
Its a must watch only if you are a Madhuri fan which I am! Her grace, beauty and personality has really been reflected very well in the series. Anamika, the protagonist has a dominating mother and Anamika's life has been ruled by her. Eventually Anamika realises she needs to live her life on her own terms through her 2 children but that comes at a huge cost.. I like the narrative but editing and sheer story telling could have been sharper. Madhuri and Lady ACP Trivedi's performances are good.. rest performances are average. Manav Kaul could have been used better..

Hidden treasures shining again!
charles-bennett-610-3433926 February 2022
Everything of this series brings back Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay kapoor's Acting skills ! Netflix shown that they are not only good at Dancing and Romance Dialogues!

Just look at their expressions and their sound of the dialogues you will feel the story with them ! New actors acted as their file depends on it 👏 👏

Bollywood is gaining A highly Mainstream through Netflix and old Good/ Great / Fantastic Actors are getting a real chance to act with a good Script ! With young and Good directors ! Hope Nepotism of Bollywood will never has the overpower on these kind of streaming Networks ! And really hope not to see Salman khan on some Netflix series to see the same old craps !

Brilliant story run the game
sanjeevanwar4 March 2022
Anwar Says: 90's Diva comeback on OTT , anybody would like to watch the smile which used to release depression. A dysfunctional family story where trauma is inflicted on children by the actions of their parents. An engaging one but you should have patience to watch. Bejoy Nambiar and Creator Sri Rao and his writing team moved the story back and froth and never left any loose ends.

Madhuri Dixit has all the grace and courage to carry the story on her shoulders, to the extent that the antipathy of investigating officer Rajshri Deshpande turned into respecting Anamika. The card playing shark mother Suhasini Mulay never wanted to loose control over the situation. Two kids Lakshvir Sharan and Muskaan Jafri justify their casting. Sanjay Kapur is in tailor made role of handling finance of her successful wife . Manav Kaul played his bipolar character well.

Story progresses in slow but steady pace and kept you guessing of Anamika disappearance till the last episode. Background score is the best in recent past. Wished the song and dance sequences would have been a bit long . Second season coming has been conveyed. Watch it if you are Madhuri fan . 3.5/5 from me.

Wrong social and moral message!
badgujaravantika25 March 2022
The series was good. I thought it would give a good message in the end. But it was disappointing. How ione must trample over their family members to reach where you want to? It gives the message of not valuing youryour relationships with your family. The ending was disappointing.

Engaging thriller
balanvivek28 February 2022
The fame game is a brilliantly written web series from start to finish with an engaging plot ,Madhuri Dixit is just outstanding in the whole series still so fresh ,the way she emotes all the emotions it's brilliant ,all other start cast were equally good and played their parts well ,back ground score is really good and the biggest positive is the writing by Sri murali it keeps you hooked till the end ...in between the series loses grip however picks up during the last 3 episodes ..you need patience to complete the whole series it's really interesting but may not appeal to all ....over all I loved it waiting for season 2 ....this time Dharma dosent disappoint ...

Why is money wasted on series like this?
qui_j27 February 2022
The recipe for this seems to be, pull together a few aging, has been actors, paint their faces with industrial strength makeup, and let them work with a badly written script! Some of the newer Hindi series have been quite good at depicting modern India. This one sadly, is just pure garbage. It would appear as if the streaming service is desperate for content, so it allows any old rubbish to be aired on its platform!

The show is boring. Do not waste your time on it. The episodes could have been shorter and the writing could have been crisper. Lost interest after episode 3. Mediocre writing.

More of Madhuri Dixit please!
gayatridg1 March 2022
Loved the show! Bingeable watch ! And yes more of Madhuri Dixit on screen please! Didn't realize what magic we were deprived of till I saw her on screen! Overall the series is a good watch and cleverly written depicting mysteries of the glam world and what all lies under the fame facade. It draws so many parallels from the lives of actors that will make you wonder and revisit the events happened in reality- in old and recent history.

Excited for the next season already!
