do you want to believe...
Viknesh_Silvalingam27 February 2019
This is a decent doc on the abduction by UFO. Highly entertaining and the funny at times. The compilation of footage from various sources gives its a found footage film effect. If you want to belive, this is one of them...

"Beyond The Spectrum-Being Taken" (2018): Close Encounters of The Fourth Kind
jtncsmistad15 January 2021
In 1977 filmmaking impresario Steven Spielberg gave us "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". At the end of that movie the character played by Richard Dreyfuss is shown entering into a colossal flying ship, which transports him and other humans into the night sky. This is classified in the "ufology" field as a close encounter of the fourth kind, alien abduction.

The documentary "Beyond The Spectrum-Being Taken" investigates several incidents spanning a number of decades in which people claim to have seen, and many actually to have been physically taken (some even insisting they were bodily probed), by alien beings. Among the most prominently publicized of these alleged events, and which this production chronicles, involves the story of New Hampshire couple Betty and Barney Hill in the 1960s. The Hills reportedly recalled in considerable and striking detail their individual and collective abduction experience both before and during clinically conducted sessions of hypnosis.

Okay. So either you believe or you don't when it comes to UFOs and aliens, right? Or, as is alluded to in "Beyond The Spectrum-Being Taken", there exists a third option. A sort of gray area. Not complete acceptance. But not slam-the-door-shut dismissal either.

You'll find me residing there.

Very interesting documentary
PinkPuffin11 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very well done documentary. I nearly turned off after the first 10 mins, as it seemed that they were taking all their information directly from Wikipedia....actually, they were highlighting the fact that Wikipedia can be VERY misleading, depending upon the author's views. If you find yourself flagging at this point, I would encourage you to stick with it.

It was refreshing to see Stanton Friedman expressing his frustration that people seem to think that UFOs and ETs "are only ever witnessed in America"! When asked the old familiar question that sceptics ask "if UFOs exist, why don't they land on the White House lawn", he bluntly says that "the White House doesn't rule the world, and that UFOs have landed all over the world, and people have had abduction experiences all over the world"! I personally get sick and tired of 99% of these types of documentaries being centred upon the US!

I think you will enjoy this, whether you are a believer or a sceptic.

Using wikipedia to explain things does not make "proof". Lost me early.

90% of this film is stock photos and Wikipedia articles
wombat201728 April 2019
They used credible sources like Wikipedia, Wikipedia, and more Wikipedia. They also spend a great deal of time criticizing Wikipedia's bias towards people who claim they've been taken by aliens. So even they admit their primary source is not credible. They also use crayon drawings of UFO's as evidence.

If you're at all interested in aliens...
carolineamiguet15 February 2019
Right off the bat I'll say my thoughts on aliens are probably complicated. I feel pretty sure there must be alien life in the universe, but am also pretty skeptical that the stories we hear about alien abduction here on Earth are true. It all fascinates me though. As someone who used to listen to the Art Bell radio show for entertainment, this documentary really appealed to me. Watch and decide for yourself, but I feel confident that in watching this you'll be presented with information that challenges your assumptions and makes you think. At the end of the day that's what a good documentary does and this one delivers.

A fascinating and thought provoking look at alien abduction.
dianatownsend19 April 2019
Beyond the Spectrum - Being Taken is a fascinating and thought provoking look at alien abduction. In the past. I've watched a few films and TV shows about UFO abductions but I've always taken them as entertainment and nothing else. This movie challenged my assumptions. Personally, I've never believed in aliens, but if space is infinite then it has to be possible that some other form of life may exist somewhere. Being Taken uses a compilation of footage from different sources which gives it almost a found footage effect. Overall it is very entertaining and really funny at times. The various testimonies tell a compelling story and the 'abductees' themselves come across as being truthful and credible. Whatever your take on the subject, even if you are a skeptic like me, you will find this film thoroughly thought provoking!

If you've NEVER watched an alien doc, then maybe this would be interesting
kamfg22 September 2021
The documentary references Wikipedia for the duration of the film. They buzz by each story giving nothing but quick stories told by a rushed narrator. Watch Unacknowledged if you want something with at least some substance behind it among many other credible documentaries.

First person alien abduction testimonies!
caseykilloran18 May 2019
This is movie that explores the possibly of life on another planet through recorded sightings of UFO and human abductions. When I was done with this film I must say I was quite taken with the level of research and how through said research was done.

It leaves the audience swinging just a little more in the direction human abductions being a real thing. And parts the tone swift form academic to eerie to hypothetical scenarios that are supported by the first hand testimony and experts in the field.

My by far favorite thing are the first person alien abduction testimonies!

Taken By This Film
TheAll-SeeingI20 February 2019
Here's guessing that directors Darcy Weir and Lee Lustig will find their film - Beyond The Spectrum: Being Taken - heavily watched. They've hit apparent pay dirt with the latest in a long line of alien docs dating back to episodes of In Search Of, and this one is done particularly well. Of equal importance is the fact that the UFO/alien space is a documentary sub-genre with an absolutely insatiable historical audience that isn't going away.

Kudos to Weir and Lustig for narrowing the usually broad UFO-driven scope just a bit, as Beyond The Spectrum maintains a focus primarily on abduction scenarios. We see testimony here that whether freshly captured or historically aggregated tells a crisp and compelling story. These people - from the abductees themselves to those in the scientific community privy to their cases - project in a way that our values tell us is truthful were we to watch these same revelations recounted from the witness stand. It's this carefully curated selection of interview material - along with fast-paced, informational, "what if" narration - that drives this film past its more dubious pretenders.

Before even giving it a chance, the cynic may have seen or passed subjective judgement on enough alien documentary offerings to preemptively write off any new submissions as nothing more than additional 2AM Cheetos-and-weed fodder. To each their own, but in a testament to the pacing and writing embedded in Beyond The Spectrum: Being Taken, this is an abduction doc that I found sharply engaged parts of the brain while allowing others to unplug. Highly recommended.

skeptic be damned!
Graham-joey25 March 2019
As a skeptic of alien abductions generally, I find these kinds of things very entertaining! This one did not disappoint. I've seen many alien abduction conspiracy pieces put together by everything from news magazines down to the lowest levels of YouTube, and this one finds the right level of fun absurdity. I like to find things that make me question my reality more than an any strict belief in alien beings and this definitely had me thinking about why this one specific thing in our society is so popular and perpetual. Thought provoking stuff!

A Thoughtful Presentation on One of Life's Biggest Mysteries
emperorsnewmind21 February 2019
Beyond The Spectrum - Being Taken, a documentary on the UFO and alien abduction phenomenon presents convincing evidence to their existence. Filled with great first hand accounts, this film covers a lot of ground and takes the viewer on a journey into one of life's biggest mysterious. The presentation of the material is thoughtful and well examined. Directors Darcy Weir and Lee Lustig have put their best foot forward in producing a wonderful documentary that should be taken seriously within this genre by skeptics or those fascinated by the UFOs.

Fascinating even for this skeptic
JGReviews20 February 2019
Beyond the Spectrum - Being Taken is a clear-headed and thorough look at alien abduction. Personally, I've never really believed in aliens myself, but it's hard to dispute the argument that if space is infinite that life, in some form, must exist elsewhere. I have to admit that it was very intriguing to hear highly educated experts weigh in on the subject and hear about some of the most credible alien sightings and abduction stories. The filmmakers skillfully put together very reasoned arguments and evidence in this movie and I'm sure the film will be very successful, particularly with the dedicated fan base in this genre. By the end of the film I had the same opinion of one expert who appeared on Larry King's show -- while I could not say for sure if these abduction stories were true or just truly believed by these individuals, there was enough information for me to need to re-think everything I previously thought. I'd highly recommend Beyond the Spectrum - Being Taken to anyone who wants a fascinating dive into the possibility of alien abduction, even the skeptics like me!

When you think you have seen it all!
ruddycarpio21 February 2019
Beyond the Spectrum brilliantly looks into alleged abductions and UFO phenomenon. The documentary maintains a focus primarily on abduction scenarios. The testimony ranges from newly captured interviews or historically added video research, full of interesting and compelling stories. The carefully curated selection of interview material, along with the narrations creates an extraterrestrial experience, transporting you into a new dimension of documentary. If you are a fan of great mysteries or Alien life on this planet, you have to watch this. Beyond the Spectrum is one of the best documentaries I've seen about this, treating the subject in a very intelligent way.

Good facts for the masses in the process of awakening...
yannesbox-179-3858628 February 2019
I know this is a difficult subject, and many people would like this to be fantasy, but it is a reality to which humanity is currently waking up to... It's uncomfortable and hard for the psyche, but growth pain is only temporary, and once we start to accept these phenomenon on a collective level we will expand and evolve beyond our imagination, and humanity is becoming a galactic race with open contact. The fear factor is man made and is based on the paranoia and xenophobic nature of humanity, the reality is much more positive and many of the unpleasant experiences are psychosomatic which means that the terror and fear is only a human perspective and doesn't have any other ground to it than the level of consciousness and the primitive reactions to a strange situation... When humanity accepts these new realities and learns the deeper reasons there will be much less fear and paranoia involved... Galactic beings have always visited this planet, and some of them have always been here, there are many, and humanity is just starting to wake up to that... Nice! Thanks to the participants, much Love.

Excellent documentary that attacks all angles/ sides of the story
becky_gioe23 March 2022
This documentary takes a deep dive into incidents of people who have had some form of contact by Aliens/UFO's. Some of the people who are being interviewed in this documentary have been physically taken, and explain their experience in detail, along with how the medical field/media made the assumption that they were either making it up, experiencing sleep paralysis or just plain crazy. They do a great job at attacking all angles from the perspective of all parties, and investigating numerous incidents/reports in details over the years. Its really eye opening to see it from a different lens. Just because you haven't personally experienced a UFO sighting or Alien communication does not mean they do not exist. I mean in this day and age you have to be open to believing that anything is possible. We have seen this in our time even now in 2022

Highly recommend watching this even just if its to see how common "assumptions" are made on people before even understanding or seeing the evidence that shows otherwise.

Honest & Truthful. Aliens Are REAL.
vodoostarchild11 September 2019
This was a well rounded well researched ufo documentary which covered a detailed explanation into many phenomena surrounding ufos/abduction. The cases presented within the documentary take you on a chronological path through ufo lore each case is assessed objectively and exposes the skepticism and cover up which has taken place from government officials and shills to discredit respectable witnesses and investigators. This is another great Ufo doc which any tin foiler needs to see i rank it alongside "I know what i saw" "Out of the blue" "Westall 1966" "Invasion on Chestnut Ridge".
