An entertaining movie.
Tejas_Vinda_AITS31 January 2020
A 40-something single man, high on life, finds out that he has a 21-year-old daughter. .., Will he become responsible father or continue to live his free-spirited life ..!! Thts the story..!!

"Kya main lagta hoon unhappy married types?" asks Saif to 21-year-old Tia (Alaya F).

Minutes later she drops a bomb on him revealing that he is her father.

The film is highly entertaining in the first half when the narrative is light.

The pace drops in the second half. Especially, for single men who want to fly solo all their life.

But in the end, 'Jawaani Jaaneman' comes out a winner with its contemporary story that showcases complex human relationships with fun-filled attitude.

This is a good story about relationships. Saif Ali Khan and Aalia F have given excellent performance in the father-daughter duo.

The comedy is more natural than slap-stick. It is n entertaining movie.

ENJOYABLE
SinhaSomesh31 January 2020
Saif Ali Khan - the name synonymous with urban rom-coms - slips into the role of a trendy, uber-cool, suave and metrosexual guy with elegance. Films such as Kal Ho Naa Ho, Love Aaj Kal, Salaam Namaste and Dil Chahta Hai have already consolidated and cemented his status in this genre. That's the prime reason why Jawaani Jaaneman generates curiosity.

Youth-centric rom-com is deemed as the most dependable genre and Jawaani Jaaneman is no exception. The film is amusing, sharp, witty and contemporary. It does some serious talking as well. The efforts are worth it and the time, well spent. Director Nitin Kakkar handles the subject with utmost maturity and ensures that there are wild-whacky moments aplenty. Being an unconventionally innovative film, Jawaani Jaaneman explores new grounds in terms of story as well as execution. The fresh concept combined with ample twists and turns in the screenplay only ensure that it doesn't stagnate.

The marriage of realism with escapism as also form and content is quite evident in Jawaani Jaaneman. There are moments that offer tremendous entertainment. Hussain Dalal (Story) borrows incidents straight from life. Jawaani Jaaneman also works because the characters are so true to life and identifiable that you can't help but relate to the issue. The icing on the cake is, undoubtedly, the execution of the film and the shot compositions. At the onset, the screenplay may give you the feeling that it's all gloss and no soul but Jawaani Jaaneman catches you slowly, but firmly and doesn't leave you till the end. There's so much happening in the film every minute. A few sequences are unconvincing here and there but the plusses outweigh the minuses in a huge way.

Director Nitin Kakkar executes the film with effortless ease, handling a number of sequences with dexterity. Come to think of it, Jawaani Jaaneman is a complex film, which reflects the complexity and intricacies of human relationships. The highpoint of the film is the three sharply defined characters, besides, of course, the styling and visuals. Also, Nitin Kakkar's style of storytelling caters more to the multiplex crowd/elite/big city junta/Overseas audience rather than the aam public/hoi polloi/masses/frontbenchers. The generous usage of English will also restrict its appeal to urban centres. The humour, thankfully, is not of the slapstick variety; it's more subtle and situational. The emotional moments are not heavy either; they percolate unpretentiously. Everything that writers (Hussain Dalal, Abbas Dalal) and director Nitin Kakkar attempt to convey through their characters looks credible and relevant. More significantly, all of this is presented in an entertaining format. But the curse of the second half, which plagues most Hindi films, troubles Jawaani Jaaneman as well. The pace drops and the film starts to meander towards predictability. The second hour is half as exciting as the first. Unmemorable songs, an over-stretched story and the lethargic pacing ail the film.

It would be blasphemous to ignore the styling of the characters in Jawaani Jaaneman. Graceful designs dictate the wardrobes of the lead actors, which not only seizes your attention but also takes fashion trends frontward. Ketan Sodha's background score is classy and effectual. Manoj Kumar Khatoi's cinematography gives the film the international feel. In fact, the film has several stunning visuals. The dialogue (Hussain Dalal, Abbas Dalal) seem straight out of real-life but are wicked at times too.

Priyata Dixit casting is inch-perfect. Saif Ali Khan has that knack for rom-coms. He fits into his character fluently and leaves a deep-seated impression. He is outstanding in both emotional and light moments. The actor has worked hard on his looks and physique and looks smashing all through. The real scene-stealer is, without doubt, Alaya F, who not only looks sizzling hot but pitches in a confident performance. She lets herself loose, surrenders to her character wholly and nails the performance. It's an incredibly noticeable act. Tabu is in terrific form, portraying the role with gusto but she barely has any screen time or real purpose in the narrative. Kubbra Sait appears very confident and performance-wise, she is spot on. In fact, her character is fleshed out very well and with her performance, she makes it even more special. This is yet another feather in her cap! Farida Jalal, Chunky Panday and Kumud Mishra contribute so much to their sequences. They are super-efficient, as always.

On the whole, Jawaani Jaaneman has a single-point plan of engaging and amusing the spectators. Although the second half is not as tempting or intoxicating as the first hour. It pales when compared to the attention-grabbing first hour. Yet, all said and done, Jawaani Jaaneman is an immensely likeable film that should appeal mainly its target audience -- the youth. Go for it!

Alaya Fs risky debut!
nadkarnisumeet2 February 2020
Jawaani Jaaneman review :

Remember Ole Ole!

That hit song from Yeh Dillagi (1994) which sorta launched Saif Ali Khan's career in the 90s. Since then, he has delivered many hits playing the kind hearted playboy who loves to live the fast life of booze and gals.

This film starts with Saif recreating his Ole Ole number and repeating his dil phek character from Yeh Dillagi. Obviously, hes a middle aged guy now but still doesn't want to settle down. No commitment. No marriage. No kids please.

Trying to hook up with a girl half his age, the cool dude gets a shock of his life when that girl reveals that she is actually his biological daughter. Not only that, she's also preggers and intends to keep the child.

Jawaani Jaaneman is a decently executed comedy with some genuinely lol moments leaving you with an emotional message that family is what a guy ultimately needs and flying solo can cause paralysis in the long run...Ouch!!

Director Nitin Kakkar keeps the narrative engaging throughout its two hours of run time. To his credit, there is never a dull moment though you know well how this baap- beti drama is gonna end. After all, we have seen Naseeruddin Shah coming on terms with his illegitimate son Jugal Hansraj in Shekhar Kapur's brilliant Masoom (1983). And later, our Salman bhaijaan also faced a similar bhool ka natija in Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai (1998). Ho hum!

Of the cast, Saif can play this role in his sleep now and expectedly, he doesn't disappoint at all. Sacred Games' Kubbra Sait gets a meaty role and nails it. Tabu appears only in the second half but still leaves her mark. Chunky Pandey seems to be carrying forward his 'Housefull' character though he isn't named Pasta here.

Above all, it is debutant Alaya Furniturewala - Pooja Bedi's daughter - who leaves you mighty impressed with her splendid performance. It was a risky role to debut with but full marks to her for choosing this film over a typical dance around trees routine. Jawaani Jaaneman may or may not work at the ticket windows. But surely, Alaya F is here to stay!

A coming of age heartwarming tale
msunando31 January 2020
Jawaani Jaaneman - Jazz (Saif Ali Khan) is a property broker by the daytime in partnership with his brother and spends his evenings at a club that belongs to his friend Rocky (Chunky Pandey). Here the middle aged Jazz does everything to relive his youth with girls half his age, with absolutely no strings attached. He is allergic to commitments and shuns the very thought of settling down as a family man. One such evening, his past comes calling at his door, and in steps Tia (Alaya Furniturewala), claiming that she may be his daughter from a long forgotten relationship and his world comes crashing down.

What follows is a roller coaster ride for the boy-man Jazz who starts with disbelief and follows up with denial and anger. There's further surprise in store as he soon realizes that Tia is pregnant with a baby from her ex-boyfriend. Jawaani Jaaneman is a heartwarming tale of coming of age for Jazz where he gradually accepts his responsibilities and grows the protective paternal instincts whilst learning to live up to values and commitments.

In a tailor made role, Saif simply breezes through with excellence. His transformation from a casanova to a loving father is beautifully nuanced - he is indeed a pleasure to watch. Alaya makes a dream debut - she is fresh, sprightly, expressive and does justice to her role. The movie is about the development of the bond between an estranged father and daughter, and director Nitin Kakkar keeps matters focused. Kubra Sait, Kumud Mishra and Farida Jalal are superb support. I however found Tabu's role underdeveloped and irritating, quite extraneous to the proceedings, almost avoidable. Music by Ketan Sodha is fantastic - "Baabula" will melt your heart. The dialogue written by Abbas Dalal is a star of the show too!

Much recommended - go for this 130 minute drama, a ride you won't regret!

Jawaani Jaaneman is a fun-filled ride that will be enjoyable if you looking for some entertainment
ketgup831 February 2020
SaifAliKhan has never been a popular actor like Khan's or Kapoors or Kumars but has always experimented with a meatier roles. Jawaani Jaaneman acknowledges that fact

Jawaani Jaaneman tells the story of care-free Jazz (Saif Ali Khan) who is a womanizer and a commitment-phobic mid-aged guy. All hell breaks when Tia ( Alaya F) enters his life who turns out to be his daughter.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, who made the hilarious Filmistaan and disappointing Mitron and The Notebook, comes back with Jawaani Jaaneman. The movie is a fun ride from the beginning of the film and the director gets to the crux without wasting much time. The first interaction between Saif and Alaya is simply superb while their chemistry evolves as the film progresses.

The second half is hilarious and few scenes (when Alaya meets the Saif's family, Tabu and Saif cursing each other) is outstanding. Music is just a pass (this one has two remakes which is disappointing). There is nothing much to talk about the cinematography and art direction but editing works as it keeps you engaged.

Jawaani Jaaneman is a performance driven film and it is Saif and Alaya who drives the film with impeccable acting. Saif Ali Khan has the perfect sense of comic timing (if you have liked him in Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste, you will love him). Alaya shows confident in her very first film and if she chooses good script, can go a long way. Tabu shines in a small role while Kumud Mishra, Farida Jalal and Kubbra Sait are dependable.

Overall, Jawaani Jaaneman is a fun-filled ride that will be enjoyable if you looking for some entertainment. Fun-Loving 3/5

For a lite and fun watch.
rishabhkatoch30 March 2020
I feel that Bollywood has largely shifted it's gaze from NRI experience to the local boy in tier 2 cities of India, a development which I personally appreciate. This movie is fun though, despite having all the tropes of escapist NRI movies. Saif ali Khan is someone who has truly grown on the audience despite not getting commercial successes. He's perfect for the role of a punjabi munda who living it up and refuses to acknowledge the fact that he's no longer as youthful as he once was. All in all a fun one time watch.

This movie has 2 Parts
pawanpunjabithewriter20 December 2020
After watching this movie for the first 1 hour, I made up my mind that it's really below average. Quite below average, and can't be considered good at all. It is coming of age adult kinda, but lacked good entertainment completely. Saif was amazing no doubt. He was the charm of the movie. Little Alaya was cute too. But, when right from minute one after one hour, it turned hilarious and very emotional. It left me speechless in splits. I hadn't expected this movie to be this good. Man, Saif was sensational. I loved the movie, enjoyed the second half of it. I loved quite a few roles in this movie. Acting was awesome. Saif's brother was awesome. You must go for this one. There were a lot of mistakes I found, but it's fine. May not be strongly considered as more than one time watch.

Alaya Has Definitely Shined in her Debut Venture!
SoumikBanerjee19961 April 2020
I generally don't expect much from these kind of movies ever, as the storylines most of the times turn out to be Generic and Predictable. This is nothing different but the predictable nature didn't really stop me from enjoying the movie to be honest. Packed with some noteworthy performnaces from the Main Two Leads that has surely lift the film few notches up from the usual standards. And Probably the Highlight of the film too. Alaya As the debutant just nailed her respective role of a Teenage girl! She seemed so natural and confident in her posture that you won't consider this is her first ever film. Saif Ali Khan as always has done justice to his role. But still somehow I expect More from him nowadays after watching such powerpacked late performances of his. Kubra Sait after Sacred Games Is a Likable Addition. The film is Shot in a Beautiful backdrop of London. That does help to bring a fresh vibrance onto the screen. It really is A Visual Treat nonetheless. The Music score although lacks originality; still it fits well with the overall vibe. But the problem as always lies in the script. The screenplay isn't tight, The side characters couldn't really left a mark. The emotional punch was there but not sufficient enough to make you cry or help to get deeper connections to the characters on screen. It's a Decent one time watch that could have been a lot better considering the interesting premise. But Unfortunately that wasn't to be.

Could've been better with that stellar star cast and different concept.
erisedwitch4531 January 2020
The concept of a mature 21 year old daughter in search of her father who turns out to be an immature 40+ yo sounds interesting. The stellar cast of Saif, Kumud Mishra, Farida Jalal, Kubra and others deliver their very best in what the script demands from them but the overall product fails to leave a mark.

Saif's Jazz/Jassi is the most well fleshed out among all. Everyone else is there to add to his growth. Alaya's Tia is mature, non clingy but since she is the 2nd most important character, they should have fleshed her out better. For instance she has a great bond with one pivotal character - but why, they show in 2 secs or mostly glaze over. I was very excited for Tabu but she is in a special appearance, lasting for a few mins, at max. Other characters, who are all great actors, deliver their best.

The emotional connect, the depth is very surface level. It doesn't touch you enough to make you feel or root for the characters. The film fails to make you laugh (baring a few scenes), it's quite long at 2hrs 10mins. They could've easily chopped down a few more minutes. The conflicts (esp the main conflict) are very forced just to draw out the movie. There are many random club scenes injected in the first half (of random people dance), which just adds to it's length.

Also, notice the influx of duplicate high rated (9 and 10 star) reviews. These particular reviews are repeated- exact same body, exact same headline, only different usernames. For instance the ones with heading- "avant garde", "Jazz tia we love you", "new concept, fresh content" etc. And this I noticed while just glancing. It seems like the production house's endeavor to increase the rating/review of the movie. Which is sad because I look at imdb ratings before making a choice. I think I'll be cautious about the hindi movie ones from now on.

Serves many special messages along with comedy
tpatoliya31 January 2020
'Jawani Jaaneman' serves many special messages along with comedy. The film moves forward, quoting lessons of love, family, relatives and reliability.

Saif Ali Khan has played a part in the role of Jaswinder Singh aka Jazz. It is believed that he has played this role with the full truth. At the same time, Saif has given equal support in the film. Aalia's confidence is seen in her first film itself. Aalia F is also useful in emotional scenes.

Kumud Mishra as Jazz's elder brother, Kubra Sait and Chunky Pandey among Jazz's friends have done full equity to their characters. At the same time, as a guest appearance, Tabu added life to the scenes. The scenes of Saif and Tabu are hilarious and make a lot of laughs.

Nitin Kakkar has made all the revelations at the beginning of the film, but still, something special remains in the movie. Though the first half is extremely slow and bored after a while, in the second half, the film arises from the back. The scene between Tabu and Saif Ali Khan is superb and arouses interest. But he lives for a short time. The film is fun in parts but does not attract two consecutive hours.

This is a good story about relationships. Saif Ali Khan and Aalia F have given excellent performance in the father-daughter duo.

Funny, Emotional, Urban.. A total entertainer
cseabhi21 February 2020
This is a romantic comedy, and the story of Jazz and Tia. 40 plus year old Jazz finds out he has a 21 year old daughter. His world turns upside down.

What I liked about the movie was Alaya F. She was refreshing as Tia. Her chemistry with Saif was spot on! The role of Jazz was completely tailor made for Saif and he did that with excellence. We have seen many movies of Saif like this. His transformation from a playboy to an emotional father is beautifully told. He along with Alaya F are the soul of the movie.

The other supporting cast like Kubra Sait and Kumud Mishra did their part really well. Kubra looked beautiful as Rhea. Chunky Panday was there in the movie and it was refreshing to see him as Rocky. Farida Jalal was seen in a big movie after a while but I was a bit disappointed as she does not have much to do in the film. Even her dialouges were very short. Tabu was fatastic as Ananya. There should be more scenes of Tabu in the movie.

Music was average. Cinematography was excellent. I liked the filimg of the movie.

The bad part about the movie is this is heavily dependent on Saif Ali Khan. The story is way too predictable and some what slow in the first half. A bit long for this format. The movie does not keep you glued whole two hours but it has its moments.

But overall this is a nice urban movie, with a heartwarming tale, and Alaya F totally wins you over.

Seriously?
JPEI6428 March 2020
Some have reviewed this movie about having a deep message. A coming of age story! Seriously? Was I watching the same movie?

Pathetic acting, amateur 'comedy', embarrassing dialogues are just some of the highlights. Hindi actors trying desperately to act like their Western counterparts, just shows their own insecurities.

So, basically, shoot a movie overseas, show lifestyles that they wouldn't show if they lived in India (cos its against our culture, but in UK these things are normal!). Basically have a paid holiday.

Alaya is quite pretty but just being pretty doesn't cut it. She is so not prepared or trained to act. Just like numerous other such young Hindi film entrants, the trend is to have good hair, skin, figure, wear skimpy clothes and have a great social media following. Done! Movies here I come!

Tabu is wasted - sad! Saif looks tired and bordering on old age, not middle age.

Here's a question - why does every time there's supposedly a funny scene, the background score is always an annoying Dhol preceded with 'Hadippa'? That the best our guys can do?

Don't watch this even if you are in quarantine.

arjunsinghips31 January 2020
As far as I'm concerned, this movie gives us the perfect 'time out' from the daily grind. It's sweet, charming, and has a fine cast. The storyline is tight. Director Nitin Kakkar did a justice with the story. Shot in London, the movie capture the Indian Diaspora in the EU subcontinent. It is a must watch for every bollywood lover in the world. Love you Saif!!

Entertaining sitcom
madanmarwah12 April 2021
This movie puts Saif on familiar terrain as he plays a playboy with a roving eye, and ready for a fling or an affair depending on the circumstances. He has done similar roles with aplomb in Hum Tum and Love Aajkal. There is a twist however. He now plays a 40 plus disco hopping, urban fun loving character behaving like a 20 plus guy and getting away most of the time. The setting is modern London. His life goes topsy turvy when he befriends a young lass ( Aliya F) who says she is his daughter from a relationship 20 years back and she is pregnant too. Saif already has a girlfriend Kubbra Sait, and hence there are complications. To make things worse Saif's brother and his parents who live in London also need to be explained as to what's happening.

Director Nitin Kakkar has made a light hearted entertainer which audience will like. It is a well made sitcom and there are sentimental scenes of father daughter relationship too. Tabu impresses in a supporting role.

Lots of "Expectations" ended upon "Disappointment"
Hussain-AL-Naseer1 April 2020
From a Stud to a Father & Gonna be Grand Father in a blink is what a film is about. After a promising trailer my anticipation and hopes were high as plot had something new and interesting to offer but poor direction and lack of emotional connection is what I got at the end of the movie. The performance by the debut ant Alaya Furniturewala is the only good aspect of the movie. She was gorgeous, calm & well composed, acted as a PRO and is great addition to Bollywood. Saif's performance was good but writing didn't help the actor once again". Solid Actors like Tabu, Kumund Mishra, Kubra Seth & Farida Jalal were wasted with brief to literally no roles
