Pilot

Perfect Harmony opens with Arthur Cochran, a widower who lost the will to live. When Arthur decides to end it all, he finds himself outside of a church, annoyed at the music he hears coming inside. Upon entering the church, Arthur meets Ginny and her church's choir. After some convincing, Arthur agrees to help Ginny and her Choir.

I love this show. Anna Camp is simply (pitch) perfect as Ginny. It is fun to see her playing a single mother who is trying to keep it all together. Also, seeing her sing again was amazing. Bradley Whitford is also a great actor and plays well off of Anna Camp. There are a lot of fun jokes, and the characters are fun. For just a 30-minute show, there was actually a lot of character development. Lastly, the ending of this episode is honestly amazing. It blew me away and reminded me of Pitch Perfect. This show is so underrated I'd recommend it to anyone.

Bradley Whitford is perfect in every cynical cranky character he plays, so this is on par with him. But the ending, now that's what had me on the verge of happy tears. I've lost family members and loved ones, so stuff like this hits home hard. I cannot express how much I'm already addicted to this show, just from 4 minutes of one episode.

I had absolutely no expectation of liking this show, but I do love Bradley Whitford. (Yes, there's West Wing but have you seen his guest appearances on Mom? Out of the park.) So I reluctantly watched it but only because my partner is the world's biggest West Wing fan, and now, after this awesome pilot, I'm looking forward to the whole season.

It is a series opener, but they managed to get the requisite exposition out of the way with a lot of story fun and intrigue. They gave us plenty of reasons to like the characters without being cliche or sappy. And they showed us they know how to establish just the right amount of conflict to provide some plot tension but to make sure we know it's a sitcom.

And then they wrapped it all up with an ending that rocked the house down, honoring what we expected in a way we never expected.

My sincere appreciation to the makers of Perfect Harmony. I'm looking forward to spending 22 minutes in Kentucky each week with my new friends.

And yes, Bradley Whitford was exquisite in this role.
