Suspense within suspense with suspense
tomarseema23 March 2020
So killer got burnt, thrown into pool, hit by car , shot by cop but he still is up and running like nothing happened. I hate suspense after suspense after suspense movies. They are so far away from original life. Keep your thriller little bit authentic. This movie could easily be short by at least 30 mins .

Lightweight thriller
aally_v23 February 2020
Brilliant cinematography, paper thin script.. how many times have we seen this before. If only some effort(ability)was put into the writing we would have had something decent here. NNM is a decent actor who desperately needs a good project. This could have been it.

Good thriller yet lack of good plot
shashankpatel-3736919 March 2020
Pretty much irregular suspense movie just like Indian Cinema generally has but it sure does lack a good direction and a proper execution. It was just like a regular another movie where too much of complexity was created by too many characters. One time watch.

A pleasant surprise
designercandlesu16 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In the utmost boredom of lockdown and having very few options of Bollywood movies (at least the ones I am interested in) on Netflix outside India - I reluctantly played this movie. And few scenes in- i found it to catch my interest. Overall the movie has flaws and feels stretched at times and some unnecessary scenes and some illogical scenes - bathtub chain tied scene. I mean how he couldn't escape that! But overall the movie was watchable and Neil's acting is pretty good. This guy doesn't get much credit for his work. He should get some good movies. I root for him in the entire movie and then in the end.. was pretty good.

I will recommend a one time watch. Better than Malang for sure

Tawdry!

#FinalVerdict

Bypass Road had the potential to be an exciting fare but first-time director Naman Nitin Mukesh fails to inject that edge-of-the-seat excitement, making it a long and tedious affair.

An interesting thought may not necessarily translate into an interesting screenplay. Bypass Road is a prime example of this statement. It is akin to a bottle of soda, which starts off with zest but the fizz settles down faster than expected. Bypass Road is loosely scripted & full of inconsistencies. It may have an interesting premise as its starting point, but the writer (Neil Nitin Mukesh) fails to flesh out a foolproof screenplay and doesn't even stay true to the film's own absurd logic. The film had great potential to be a riveting thriller but halfway through, you realize that the writer & director (Naman Nitin Mukesh) have run out of ideas. Bypass Road is one jigsaw puzzle that remains unsolved even after its culmination. Come to think of it, your imagination can run wild with a premise like the one in Bypass Road. But it runs out of fuel midway. In a nutshell, Bypass Road promises the moon, but what you eventually get in return is merely a mirage. A damp squib!

Specifically, the screenplay (Neil Nitin Mukesh) should've packed some great moments, but the writer seems to take an easy way out. The story is a chaotic mess & for no reason, it takes a non-linear route complicating even the simplest of things. Director Naman Nitin Mukesh has an eye for visuals but he couldn't do much since he's saddled with a poor script. The cinematography (Fasahat Khan), too, neither heightens the drama nor does it add any thrill. Music is the sole saving grace.

Neil Nitin Mukesh showed great promise as an actor and you only expect him to climb the ladder in his next releases. Adah Sharma is alright. Gul Panag & Shama Sikander add to the glamour quotient. Sudhanshu Pandey, Rajit Kapur, Taher Shabbir & Manish Chaudhari enact their parts with confidence but they have nothing substantial to portray.

To sum up, Bypass Road is a huge let-down. An apt case of body beautiful, minus soul! Flop!

Interesting and intelligent Movie! Very watchable. Keep your notebook handy.
anchit-bitmesra10 November 2019
This movie is written by Neil Nitin Mukesh. The reason this is important is because if someone follow his movie choices and his interviews you will know that he wants to make good art and thriller almost to the point of being obsessed about it. In his earlier interviews(2010-2011) he used to say that the worst films are the biggest earners and he wants to do intelligent and different movies. He followed this path till 2013(with attempts like Johnny Gaddar, Aa dekhen zaraa, 3G, Shortcut Romeo) and then deviated to movies like Prem Ratan, Saaho, Golmaal Again and south Indian movies(Katthi, Kavaccham) which seemed like(to me) that he gave up on his obsession due to lack of Box office validation and Unsatisfactory scripts. The reason I say all this is because this movie seems like NNM's comeback to the thriller genre and actually the kind of movie he would have visualised to be a part of but were never made.

Okay, coming to the movie, the sequences are stylish. Every sequence, the characters, scenes, the background music shows that it's a well thought out movie. The sequences separately is never boring and acting performances are good and believable. This is Neil's best acting performance till date and has a lot to do in this film. The story is intelligent and doesn't have any loopholes or trickeries as such. Overall it is an intelligent story and a interesting execution in terms of the craft.

The sequence is different and not straightforward, moving back and forth between the present and past. The only problem(if I can say so) is that you atleast need to see the movie 3 times to understand what a intelligent movie it is in terms of the story, and be able to join the dots together and get closure. The reason I feel this is a problem, is because important clues and information are sometimes passed by inconsequential characters(for e.g the cyber security guy of the police) who are hard to pay attention to. You may forget what happened in the previous past sequence when you reach to the next sequence relating to the past(as there is too much going on and no hook) Information, or thinking process are not repeated by people(may be in brainstorming sequence) and everything is just someone said something or something happened once and you have to remember all these details(which is hard to do in the first watch). As a result you might feel cheated or fooled in the first watch as you might not be able to connect the dots . But having watched it 3 times there is a connection between every suspense revealed in the movie.

I think this movie came about in an intellectual way, and it would have made sense to the writer who knows the story before hand, but hard for someone to grasp everything who is listening to the story and there is no single thread that people can relate to at the end. There are simply too many threads. This fails to create the required aha moment and the emotional closure at the end(which would have made the movie brilliant) but you can still get that feeling once you watch it for the 2nd or 3rd time.(And it is pretty watchable due to the stylish and entertaining sequences).

The reason I am excited by this movie, is because of the possibility of how good this could have been if the recall factor was a bit more when we reach to the end and how intellectually stimulating it would have been. Hopefully, NNM write more such scripts and also add the elements which would easier for the first time viewer, keeping intact the interesting and brain stimualting story.

Could have been a very good thriller, but got ruined by untimely songs dances and whatnots. Probably to drag the movie a little further.

One time watch
jakegylly1 April 2020
Started interestingly but dragged some what to unfold the suspense but still at some point while watching the movie you'll definitely predict the suspense before it is revealed but wait for the climax if you're prediction is true or not and screenplay is not good it is confusing sometimes like when we watch the movie for something to happen in the present situation immediately they'll show past scenes happened before that is done for every 15 minutes overall time pass mystery thriller

Watch for Neil Nitin Mukesh
Aryannvisionary8 November 2019
Adah Sharma is my favourite actress after 1920 and I went to watch her but found Neil Nitin Mukesh in his best performance. People who liked Badla must watch this film. Badla was a copy of French movie The Invisible Guest frame by frame available on Netflix. But Bypass Road is original. Actor who have guys to put themselves forward and make there own movie like Aryan Neeraaj Anand did for Jeet Lo Marathon movie is praiseworthy. Gul is fantastic. This libran is doing great after being a mother, something positive have come in her. Rest others are good. Director has done good job. First film is first film, you cannot become great in first attempt but greatness will come to the director. Nice. New. Different. Unique. #jeetlomarathon

Suspenseful,Unpredictable and Engaging
sahbahajali23 March 2020
Bypass road is purposely confusing to keep the audience engaged throughout with its unique way of revealing the story.Neil Nitin Mukesh is extremely smooth with his performance and dialogue delivery as an actor and he also did a brilliant job in writing the twist and turns of a thriller script.however the first half of the film seems unnecessarily dragged and tedious.overall,Bypass road is an enjoyable exciting one time watch

No freshness!

Warning: Spoilers
3 things which i liked here the most 1. Start uptil the crash 2. Background score 3. Climax Rest made me bang my head pretty hard, felt as if the movie itself was urging badly to get to the climax part somehow. Neil is a very good performer and we want more of his talent to be displayed as a Protagonist. Due to some reason, Adah made me remember her Hyderabadi accent character in Vidyut's Commando. Movie is a crime-drama. No thrill element. Rated only for the effort put in by Neil. Rest of the characters were helping in moving the complexity percentage ahead.

This movie is worth your time if you like constant thrillers and suspense. In 3/4th of a movie, the story keeps you engaged and the climax is certainly surprising. Neil Nitin Mukesh does fabulous acting, performs in every scene with perfection. He proves that he is a perfect choice for the main lead of this movie.
