The movie is a self funded passion project for the director, and as far as independent movies go, it's one of the good ones. While the narrative can be a bit dragging at times, it improves a lot in the third act. The ending felt a bit flat, and I found myself wishing for just a little more story and suspense. All in all, the fans of the genre will most likely enjoy this one. I did.

What people seem to dismiss about this kind of films, is that at their core they are grounded in some frightening truths. You think 5g is the future? Your so wrong. There are corporations that run on 10 and 11g in parts of the world. Quantum computing is here already. You just will never get to use it. Conscious A.I. is what is coming and may already be here. This is not bogus UFO propaganda type material. This is what's actually happening behind the scenes. He who has an ear to hear and a mind to understand, take notice.

I think any decent sysadmin will agree with me:
This IT movie is quite incompetent when it tries to deliver anything about IT.
Specially when it comes to instantly deploying an app from a code onto a phone. There is no compilation step, or it's so fast that it seems like there is none. If ever there is such app it will take days to compile from code to a binary. Google Chromium takes few hours to compile on my six core machine. Furthermore sophisticated apps would take days if not weeks.
So yeah. For anyone who is distant from IT - they will probably not bother. But for anyone who is near to IT in some way, this whole thing s really painful to watch, because crazy things like "no compilation" or incompetent IT talk is all throughout this movie.
It's clear that the movie creators have received a *very* poor technical consultation. Or maybe the movie is trying to deliver to the masses and tries to OVER simplify things to a state that it's laughable, while miserably failing to be a niche movie for IT people.

The movie starts off slow, but that's ok. It's sets up the characters and the premise of cyber security. It was engaging enough for me to say hey, I'll keep this on. I felt the direction it was headed in was good enough. That was until Raza, the main, started talking about conspiracies and ai take over a la terminator.
The moment it went into rise of the machines, the movie became lackluster. Even as a technology person, I was willing to overlook how easily they were changing the programming and code of the app, but once it turned to conspiracy and paranoia, I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. It's almost as tho a different writer did the second half of the movie.
The characters were ok, at least nice to look at. The setting, while basic, held up nicely, until the whole terminator future stuff, which was only 12 days into the future lol. The ending was a cop out. The chick in the coat causes the future to happen, and she was aware of it, but instead of playing on that, they make it out to be a joke. But the chick Monica knows it's not a joke, which leaves the audience to believe that everything they saw is about to happen. The ending alone brought the rating down for me

It kind of drags a bit ... or is a slow burner if that makes it sound better. It is not an easy watch at first ... but it does get to a point where you finally get invested in the characters. All the small talk up to that point may seem benign, but maybe it helped create the mood? It may work for you or it may not. I know that the twist towards the end might put you as much off as it did ... others here.
This is not an easy watch. Very slow burning with the big question, what is this leading up to. You may have issuees determening that, which I reckon is supposed to be that way. It is just unfortunate that the ending is such a letdown ... or is it? You may see it differently, I reckon the majority will feel cheated (no pun intended)

Quite Terrible (Dubbed version)

I saw the dubbed version so I don't know if that is why I feel as though I watched an entirely different film than other reviewers or what, but I can't give it more than two stars. It was just awful.
The set-up, and the acting, reminded me of The Man from Earth, in that it's a group of friends sitting around hysterically over-reacting to information provided by the host. The women cry incessantly while the men haughtily insist the authorities should be summoned. There's a speech about AI in there somewhere but it doesn't really make any sense.
It takes 42 minutes of absolutely nothing remotely interesting happening just to get to the actual plot.

Good surprise for some journalists at the Cannes Film Market 2019, Hous3 is playing the originality card first and foremost.
A reunion weekend of old students friends will be disturbed when one of them confess that he successfuly decrypt a confidential file every hacker of the world try to decrypt.
A house (living room and dining room), 9 actors speaking especially about computer science : onto the paper, Hous3 project is barely exciting, except for computer fans. This is all the more a surprise.
For his first movie, Manolo Mungia offsets his low budget by a lot of ideas, a flawless direction of the cast (each actor plays very well, helped by punchy dialogues) and a rhythm never grow less. Let it be a simple conversation to guess passwords or when the characters type on keyboards to decrypt code, the movie is never boring. The staging permits at each footage to capture the views of its nine characters while maintening the suspense (strenghtened by excellent musical choices).
Like other excellent movies like The Invitation (Karyn Kusama, 2015) or The Circle (Aaron Hann & Mario Miscone, 2015), Hous3 is a closed-room fully mastered (very good spatial management), also into its end fairly surprising (maybe a little too abrut for some people). Hous3 deserves to be discovered urgnetly and Manolo Mungia takes place into the list of horror/fantasy movies directors to pay attention to.

I'm a big fan of dystopian novels and films--I think they present some interesting ideas, especially when based on things that truly exist, like current technology. One of the characters makes the wonderful observation that we no longer have cell phones, we have computers that allow us to make phone calls. Is there anyone who truly thinks about the technology at our fingertips who has not thought of such a thing at one time or another?
That's not to say that the film isn't riddled with improbabilities. When using current technology as a springboard for ideas, some leaps of logic can go awry. As an American, I loved the idea of the United States government being the "bad guys," even when I have doubts that some of our techs and politicos can barely tie their shoes without supervision. I won't go into the tech issues, which have been covered already. Sometimes you need to speed up processing times for the sake of the story and sometimes "goofs" are deliberately made to keep people from doing incredibly stupid things by reproducing what they see in a movie. As long as the story moves forward in a reasonably logical way, I can be a bit forgiving.
The cinematography for this film was truly excellent. It relied on a few special effects, but nothing that would have prevented the film from being enjoyable without them. Honestly, because most of it took place in one room, it could probably be adapted to a stage play without much effort. The fact the director could get so much intensity from such a limited primary cast in such a limited environment says much about this relative new guy's skills. I will probably keep an eye out for future films, even though I'll probably have to stream them as I did this one.
What really prompted me to give this film an 8 rather than a 7 was that I saw the dubbed version. Anyone who's watched a dubbed film knows that dialogue suffers, especially due to the lack of intensity in the dub actors' voices. This lack of intensity could have ruined the final five minutes of the story, but for the very emotive acting being done there. That I enjoyed the film as much as I did, even being dubbed, says a lot for the film.

I found the movie very well done and highly entertaining, especially considering the fact that it's an independent and self-financed movie!
The story is very original and you may learn a thing or two -- however keeping in mind that this is science *fiction* (so things like the compilation time for an android app are entirely irrelevant, duh :).
To me the most impressive part is the "video chat" -- won't say more not to spoil anything -- It's really clever and well done. Plus the fact that Munguia keeps the viewer in a nice and intense suspense despite the fact that it's not an "action" movie. It's just a bunch of guys in a house! :)

I am very pleased with this movie. Not only because of its context of creation: 18 days of shooting, good plot, first, and risky bet for the director... But also because it is a good movie!
Nice actors and a great plot which truly make the film. A group of friends from the IT world gather in a far away house for a weekend what could happen? You will never guess! :)
Don't give credit to some bad reviews in this movie complaining about some "rigour" that doesn't fit in a movie. Technical concepts are very well explained in the movie in plain words, for people not involved in IT world. And I think it is a good idea, since this movie is for all. Everyone can understand and follow concepts like Man In the Middle for instance. The director is an IT specialist by the way.
The third act is great. A shocking ending demanding more. Waiting to watch the next movie of this director.

The deep and dark web are being mentioned over and over again nowadays. We use our computers and phones connected to the internet and have no idea which the consequences might be.
"H0us3" does and excellent job by showing us how virtually vulnerable we are and what a great ignorance about these issues we have.
The film is mainly about a group of friends having a meeting after many years and talking about the topics mentioned above but the thing is...it's amazing because you never get bored and you want to know what the hell is going and will go on.
Technology and the Internet are not what they seem to be.
As for the person who wrote "painful to watch", I'm glad I ignored his review. It seems that that individual was expecting special effects and some avengers heroes to save us all. This is not the Marvel universe, this is a movie about friends, and ordinary (although some of them pretty successful) people discovering an incredible secret related to the dark and deep web.
You, as the spectator, will feel you're inside the film! Go and watch it. You won't regret it. :)
An amazing and engrossing experience of a minimalist genre film!

Finding out to what an enormous degree technology can dominate a person isn't shocking anymore today (in the context of science fiction art at all), but Manolo Munguio managed to provide me an impressively shocking experience in his only film so far.
Although the alternative point with a twist in the last sentence allows a double perception of the conclusion, in both versions message of "h0us3" has a chilling effect on me, whether it is a view of an application with tempting and at the same time dangerous possibilities of unimaginable dimensions or just potential manipulation using already real technological possibilities, effective after all even in the circle of well-rounded experts.
"h0us3", with its ingenious construction moving from a relaxing comedy to an increasingly dense thriller (with a scene of fire or a stuffed wolf with horror elements), evokes for me the mastery of gradation, endings and points that I am used to from Alfred Hitchcock and directors related to him. I can easily compare my experience after the end with more than one genre classic.
Excellent civilian acting underlines the quality, I especially liked the actor in the character of Rafa (Rubèn Serrano). Although I hadn't interested to the IT topic in some other sci-fi films (e.g. Traveling Salesman, 2012), in "h0us3" I already enjoyed the first third of movie full of humorous conversations about social networks, technology or programming, even with verbal references to many older famous sci-fi or games with guessing passwords. Ih that moments, H0us3 seemed to me like "Perfect Strangers" (2016) moving to a "higher" level.
The topic thus becomes easily accessible and comprehensible to complete laymen, and the processing clearly fulfills the essence of science fiction genre in the form of advancing current scientific knowledge to the previously impossible.
Later on in the script, I could also admire how much even seemingly secondary or originally purely humorous references take on additional meaning later on. And at the same time, in the last third, I was thrown into such a tense tension and fear, as I have not seen in a movie for a long time.
