Horrible writing!
Carriexoc3 March 2019
The poor actors looked so bad Because of the dumb words they had to say. I feel bad for them. This was way up there on the worst Lifetime movies made.

Terrible acting
metfan4121 November 2019
Don't waste your time on this one. I'm usually a sucker for LMN movies, but this one fell flat. The lead actor is absolutely awful. You'll find better acting in a skin flick, definitely skip this one.

Netflix now show tv movies

Can't believe a big studio and production firm are behind this. What ruined the movie was the acting and dialogue. It was like every actor was reading their lines in stage play rehearsal. Just a strange experience the way they all spoke.

Absolutely Dreadful!!!
connectpenelope-1534513 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is so bad that it is painful.

There are definate similarities to the plot of wonderful, classic film Rebecca.

A housekeeper who closely resembles the famed Mrs Danvers with her raven black hair and old fashioned ways, suggests the new bride wears an ornate necklace belonging to the deceased, former wife to please her new husband ( In Rebecca, Mrs Danvers suggested the new bride wear a copy of the ballgown worn by her husbands deceased wife)

As in Rebecca, the new wife enters the room wearing the necklace and everyone turns around to see her. Just like Max de Winter, the new husband turns around in total horror, screaming that his new wife takes of the necklace.

Horrible, clumsy, poorly acted film. Just dreadful!!! Don't bother watching.

Don't Waste your time/worst film produced by lifetime
ndablue1 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I had to create an IMDB account just so I can review this film. I've seen some cheesy Lifetime movies, but this is probably the WORST movie I've seen that's been produced by Lifetime. Who made the decision to release this movie because I can't understand how anyone approved. As most stated in their review, the plot in this movie are predictable. I can get, the script is awful, but did the director not notice that it was? I didn't get the part where Anna goes to meet her husband and right away, he treats her like a stranger. He kisses her on the cheek, he lets her sleep by herself, and they're a newlywed? This is the first sign of a bad script. What seems to be day 2, we meet the other horrible actress, Harley Hedley who seem to have been hired from the town gas station or maybe she is related to the director, because she didn't seem to have any acting experience whatsoever, but the equally horrible actor and maybe much worse is one if the main character, Peter Keene. This guy's facial expressions need a LOT of work as he sure Looks like he's read the lines from a teleprompter for the first time. And I get it, a part of the audience I'm sure, wanted Anna to come out if this ordeal by discovering her husband's plan, but what was with the whole turn in the script? I understand too, that it is absolutely fine if she ends up taking a different turn, but really? Couldn't her husband just fall off from the tower and allow Anna to live a good life? Don't waste your tome on this movie. I'm upset at myself for not reading reviews before I wasted 1 hr abs 27 mins which I'll never ever get back. To the studio heads and director Fred Olen Ray, this movie is a FAIL and has been produced under your care.

Horrendous acting
aislingloux18 October 2019
Could have been a decent film if they hired people that could act, atrocious is one word for the acting seen in this movie. Was something to have on as background noise while I was on my phone.

Have you ever watched a movie that made you feel embarrassed for the actors? If not, watch this one and you can mark it off your bucket list. This was an absolute train wreck. 🤦‍♀️

"déjà vu" on an industrial scale
myriamlenys10 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A rich but fragile young woman with a troubled history marries a widowed mystery author. She rejoins him at her new dwelling, an isolated and rather stunning lighttower house. Pretty soon all kind of details begin to worry and annoy her. For instance, why does the sombre housekeeper treat her with such enmity ?

"Deadly Shores" is not, repeat not, a triumph with regard to acting, writing, directing, and so on. Moreover, it seems to think that the viewing public (or at least its own viewing public) is deeply, deeply stupid. It spells everything out, emphatically, as if addressing a group of very slow five-year-olds. For instance, when checking the health of an unfortunate woman who was struck down, the man doing the checking says "She's alive", even though he's the only conscious person around. God forbid this information being conveyed in another, more subtle way...

All of this is annoying enough, but it's also a most derivate movie. People somewhat acquainted with the mystery or horror genre will recognize a vast array of tropes and clichés, plus numerous plot points or ideas taken from other, better movies, such as "Gaslight", "Rebecca",... Whole drinking games are begging to be invented, here.

The Hitchcock is strong with this one...Believe the rating
CranberriAppl20 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie might actually deserve to be at 0/10. I had a review going while I watched this, and scrapped it to say this movie is completely awful. The writer is clearly a Hitchcock fan with the elements of Rebecca (I think the housekeeper was actually wearing Judith Anderson's costume in this), Psycho, and Vertigo (with the shot of the stairs and the "fear" of heights). This movie was so bad, I don't even feel up to pointing out the flaws.

Lifetime occasionally uses gorgeous locations that ultimately have nothing to do with the plot. This lighthouse is GORGEOUS and is not another character in the story like you'd hope. There is nothing to like abut this movie. It even begins weird because the newlyweds have zero chemistry unlike Olivier and Fontaine and Richard's actor looks like he could be Anna's father. I know Richard from The Closer and Anna from GH, but it's still very awkward. The scene that is supposed to mimic the costume ball scene from Rebecca was so cringey to watch play out. As was the "I'm Mrs. Palmer now" scene. They both happen so abruptly and are obvious homages, but they don't work. The ending was SO CRINGE-inducing.

I actually think a Rebecca-lite story is in Lifetime's wheelhouse, but this is not it. The lighthouse would have been a great setting for a ghost story. I don't understand the ending at all nor do I understand how they could have thought anyone would like it. Since this movie borrows so much, there's a movie with Liz Taylor and Laurence Harvey called Night Watch (it's so good), and it would not surprise me if the writer borrowed from that as well.

No credited writer?
danmasucci-424-7967157 October 2021
Not even Alan Smithee wants to touch the writing credit with a ten foot pole.

My wife and I LOVE cheesy LMN flicks and even this one to some extent. But I won't sugarcoat it, the writing is horrendous. It's hard for actors to chew though garbage dialogue and watching these actors struggle reminded me of the prequel Star Wars films and how painful it was to watch the actors perform.

Watch this on an Autumn day with a slice of apple pie and some hot cocoa. The cheese factor will sustain you but you won't want to watch it again.

Loved this movie . Had no idea who the bad guy was until the end. Its cleverly scripted full of twists and turns.. its beyond me how the actors haven't been nominated for an Oscar. Fantastic back drops and scenery. Can't wait to watch it again.

Deadly dull
markrbwilson31 August 2020
Cringeworthy bad acting abounds. The dialogue is even worse. No redeeming features of the film at all. Watched it just to see how bad it could be; and I was not disappointed.

The Lighthouse at Shorecliff
lavatch3 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The best part of "Deadly Shores" is the film's poster with a screaming woman, with a tall lighthouse in the background. The image recalls the iconic poster of Hitchcodk's Vertigo with Jimmy Stuart and the San Juan Batista. But the comparison must end there because "Deadly Shores" turned out to be deadly dull.

The protagonist Anna, the screamer in the poster, has recently been released from a mental institution where she was under the care of Dr. Shaw. The doctor is troubled that Anna has made the decision to marry a mystery writer who resides in an old lighthouse where his first wife died under suspicious circumstances. The good doctor has good reason to be concerned.

The drama unfolds with Anna moving into the lighthouse as Mrs. Richard Palmer. But it turns out the mystery writer is deep in debt and is planning to drive Anna insane, have her institutionalized, and walk away with her estate. Richard is aided by his lover Beth, who likely collaborated with Richard on the death of the first Mrs. Richard Palmer.

Two other characters are noteworthy. There is the eccentric Mrs. Argyle, the cook, who treats Anna with disdain. There is also Carrie, the bartender at the Sail Croft watering hole, who is sympathetic towards Annie's plight. There are also some filler scenes with the local pastor and his wife that do not add anything to narrative

While slow-paced, the film started to pick up some momentum, prior to imploding at the end. It was not made clear why Richard suddenly changed his mind and attempted to kill Anna instead of driving her mad. Then, the complete transformation of Anna into a fiend who goes on a rampage was not made credible. Perhaps she was a nut case who killed her parents in a fire. But the unexpected transformation from the passive Anna to the avenging fury seemed implausible.

"Deadly Shores" was disappointing both as a thriller and as a character study. Anna's plight was touching until she became the demon that sent her right back to the nut house. At least she was spared the fate of the first Mrs. Richard Palmer.

Badly executed
phd_travel24 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This slightly gothic thriller involving a lighthouse and murderous spousal intentions had promise but the characters are badly written and the situations are stiff and unconvincing.

There is a slight saving grace with the ending mini comeuppance twist.

Don't bother unless you really want to watch it.

This could have been a good movie. Gothic thrillers are the best, script wasn't bad (could have been better) and the location was great. But this was awful. The acting was atrocious to say the least.

OMG
anyidbutthis30 June 2022
Sadly I will never forget this. It will be burned in my memory until my memory goes, and maybe even after. I'm old enough to remember that Lifetime started out with content that women could be proud of, like There's Something About Amelia, A Cry for Help: The Tracey Thurman Story and The High Price of Passion. It is now mostly painful content and if women are proud of it now then that doesn't say anything positive about "today's woman". Normally I would not be so negative because "I wouldn't even hurt a fly".....;-(

What in the world did I just do? I wasted 90 minutes of my life that I will NEVER get back. I'm just glad I got some clothes and some swifter sweeping done so it wasn't totally wasted. This actress is horrific horrendous horrible awful appalling! The actor is just as bad. Geez.... Total embarrassing it should be to even produce this nonsense.

Can't give any spoilers when there's nothing to spoil. Looks like a 70's TV film for old age pensioners. Crap acting and crappy storyline. I gave it 1 out of ten but in reality I'd give it 3 out of 853 billion.
