This is honestly quite a smart movie and affectionately produced by a writer/director who understands and respects the genre. With a bit of sci-fi and horror thrown in to the mix this film takes it's time developing characters and story but never feels slow. After a nuclear crisis, a small force of untrusting strangers are thrown together on a journey to survive. There is a strong sense of having to trust others and band together to be around to the end. Low budget? Yes. Well made? Yes. Well acted? Yes. There are reasons for the canned music and the sets made of "junk". If you are looking for the glitz, game, and name dropping of Hollywood pass. You'll get no canned acting here nor will you get necessarily what you expect, which is a good thing. What you'll get intead is smart writing and a well crafted film on a realistic budget. It's great.
