Max's service pistol is a Colt 1911 which is a mistake. From 1926 to 1986, NYPD used Smith & Wesson Model 10 and the Colt Official Police.
Either Moritz was wrongly diagnosed as a schizophrenic or the script writers don't know what it is. Anyways, he never show any sign of schizophrenia through the series.
