The "United Nations" scene was filmed on Roosevelt Island, which is outside of but considered part of Manhattan (Which is commonly thought of as New York City, but it is one of the five borough which compose the city). The real United Nations is located on 42nd Street and First Avenue, near the East River.
To answer the question, the filmed location is a bit North and East of the Real UN, but it also faces the East River.
Moreover the buildings that are part of the "UN environs", actually form the campus of the newly founded Cornell-Tech, which was built on the grounds of a former hospital. The institution is a joint venture between Cornell University and Israel's Technion University.
