A pilot episode masterfully done right.
If I were to paint a picture on what to expect from THE DRAGON PRINCE, I would say: The plot and story intregue of game of thrones, the woefully crafted themes and character arcs of avatar the last airbender, and the artistic style and fidelity of zelda's world.
One thing most commendable I found in avatar last airbender was its first pilot episode, which in my opinion, was one of the best in telivison let alone animation; providing a series arching showcase of character arcs and story development and world building. In this episode, the dragon prince introduces the same feel and love in its storytelling, but in my opinion to a far greater and more ambitious extent; establishing the fantasy world, key themes, plot and most importantly relationship between the set of characters.
Whilst the animation is choppy and could be a setback for many viewers, the level of storytelling and initial impression I got from this pilot has shown several glimpses of amazing potential of a show that does not have any plans of slowing down.
Seriously, when it's all said and done, this show could be on the same level, or be on another level above avatar.
