No one expects good shark movies this time of year on syfy channel in prep for the latest Sharknado event, so no one should be disappointed. But yet I am. This movie was neither consistently laughably awful, nor at all good. Sharks are apparently foiled (at least for a time) by rubber and wood rafts, but take out the folks on a good-sized boat within just a minute or two.

The girls take out a couple of sharks in the most ridiculous ways possible (pulling a large rock onto one's head, setting one on fire with about a quart of gasoline, etc.), which do contribute to the entertainment value. However, the movie takes it self seemingly seriously whilst this is all going on. It's like they had the resources to actually make a halfway decent film, but they chose to just ride the fence of camp and legitimate film and chose not to commit to either.

The one thing that could have barely saved it would have been a shark jumping out and eating the last survivor as she was recording her video log of the recent events. She had it coming at least as much as the rest of the characters. Embarrassingly bad for all participants - I hope they continue to find work despite this very forgettable film.

Silly plot, pitiful, yet fun, special effects. Terrible acting. But a fun enough way to spend a couple rainy Saturday afternoon hours...

So I didn't have high hopes for this and I wasn't disappointed. Why would you actually spend money and time on this claptrap. Syfy May have hit a new low! Look I'm all for sharks, blood, and attractive people dying horrible deaths but really syfy? You could have attempted either a little realism or gone high camp. This movie is so dumb and so predictable. SKIP IT!!

The script is so bad, and the characters are so stupid, the sharks are the heros of this subpar film.

People as stupid as the characters in this film should never procreate. Natural selection is our friend.

Don't watch unless you're in a state with legal marijuana. You'll need something to ease your pain.

I created a profile just to rate this movie. Complete and total garbage. If i could rank this movie negative stars i would. Acting is terrible, script is horrible, and digital effects are laughable at best. Syfy should of saved their money then created this trash. Worst movie i have ever seen.

I forced myself to watch this since I love shark movies. It was absolutely ridiculous on so many levels. Please don't watch this movie like I did haha.

"CGI? What they couldn't afford a real plane?!"

The opening scene of this atrocious movie involves a group of young travel vloggers boarding a CGI light aircraft to go off the grid to some generic mysterious cove. If the production budget is so small that they couldn't get a shot of a real plane before it's even taken off, then the chances are the special effects budget is going to be poor.too The CGI plane looks laughably bad and this is even before we've seen a shark! The plane crashes into the ocean and people get eaten by sharks!

A simple premise that could have been good but this is a film littered with ridiculousness and inaccuracies. Great White Sharks are known to be social animals but in this movie they hunt like Orcas! The sharks relentlessly pursue the youngsters when in reality they would have chowed down on the first few victims and then swam off! This I can forgive but I can't forgive that the sharks roar! Yes like a Tiger, they roar and growl! I thought Hollywood had learned its lesson with growling sharks after the abysmal 'Jaws:The Revenge'.

If things couldn't get any worse then there's two survivors who take refuge on a flimsy inflatable raft when they're being attacked by three, yes three Great Whites!

This film was tedious to watch but I had paid to rent the movie. More fool me! What can I say? I'm a sucker for a shark movie. The trailer depicted a movie similar to 'The Shallows' or the inferior '47 metres down.' In comparison though even the latter mentioned movie is a masterpiece compared to this pile of chum! Acting is borderline terrible. The lead character known as Lyndsey is easy on the eye but actress Aubrey Reynolds overacts in every scene. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the kitchen for another beer yet another ridiculous scenario raises from the deep and it's impossible to peel yourself away from the screen. Not in a good way though. This movie is like witnessing a train wreck. You have to look but by no means is it pleasant. 'Surrounded' or 'Frenzy' as it is also known tries to be intelligent with flashback scenes. However this just adds to the cheese. In fact this movie is so unintentionally cheesy I'm surprised the sharks didn't die from cheese poisoning. At one point the two survivors consider shooting the sharks with a flare gun but decide against it when Lyndsey says "No they'll just swim down and put themselves out!" Are you freakin' kidding me?! Who wrote the dialogue for this movie? Whoever it was needs shooting with a flare gun! I wanted this movie to be great. The more good shark movies, the longer the genre will survive. This isn't a bad film because it's trying to be bad. It's bad because it takes itself serious. 'The Meg' was a fun but silly movie. 'Surrounded' Is just plain idiotic! There's three! Yes three great whites against two little ladies with a pen knife and a flare gun but the film manages to be 1hr 25mins. That's 1hr 25 mins and £1:49 I'll never get back!

I love it how the main character is so optimistic and talks to the sharks as if they will talk back.

My husband started watching this movie and I wound up watching it with him. Holy cow is this movie bad. The script and acting are horrible. Like the sharks can't get her floating on an inflatable raft for how long or on the little platform but the two guys that show up on an actual boat get knocked off and eaten in no time at all. Seriously?!?! There's how many other "seriously" moments I could list but I don't feel like wasting any more time on this. Hopefully I can save someone else from watching this and wasting their time. Unless you want to watch it as a comedy because that's how we took it. I was actually cheering for the sharks (which the digital sharks were pretty good for SYFY movie standards I will say).

Great comedy film

Do you want an action packed film, with top notch CGI & SFX, some if the greatest acting, writing and captivating slow motion scenes ? Then this is not for you. But do you want an adventure film reminiscent of a B movie? Where the protagonist moans throughout the entire length (yes all 1.2 hours) of the film while struggling to survive ? Do you want lines and plot points taken straight out of a telenovela ? Then look no further. I am not sure what this film tried to do, but it did it so poorly, it ends up being entertaining anyway !

If you want to know what the worst movie in the world means - watch this one. I'm 35 years old and I can't remember I've ever seen movie this bad on so many levels. Acting, plot, story, directing, CGI - all on the lowest possible level.

I have seen some awful shark movies but this takes the biscuit. Don't bother watching this movie, read a book, sing a song or run head first in to a wall, all of which are more fun.

I was made to watch this film by a good friend of mine, who, after making me watch this film; is no longer my friend...

This is the possibly the worst "film" I have ever had the misfortune of watching.

If you even toy with the idea of watching this cinematic abortion, I would suggest sticking hot pins into your eyes as that would be less painful ten fold.

This might be the worst movie ever made. Definitely the worst I've ever seen. Fight any urge you feel to watch it you'll thank me later. P.s. this isn't hate on any actors or anything it's just simply a terrible movie

Think of it as a spoof movie. A spoof horror, you'll love it! It has it all!! The stereotypical Asian guy, the bad black girl, siblings that are parted, cut offs back to happy times for that artistic experience. The acting is so bad it is fantastic, so far as I realise now that anyone can get into being an actor. So a group of friends from all ethnic backgrounds go on a plane to make a blog on YouTube, the plane hits the water and some survive to become shark feed. They try to reach an island , special effects of the island were created by mrs William's 3rd graders. I wont spoil it for you, grab the popcorn and sit back and laugh at how terrible this is. You will love it!!!!

Good premise but the lack of horror portrayed by the actors sinks it a little. Why are they so calm about their friends being eaten in front of them?

The CGI sharks are a step up from some other CGI shark movies, but only slightly. The lack of believability seriously derails the tension.

Still, it was an okay time waster and my fellow shark movie fans will find something to enjoy.

I know it was a straight to SyFy movie but it was not worth watching. It seemed like the network had a time slot to fill so they watched a few movies, got some ideas and wrote and filmed this movie in a day. Too predictable with the same old problems to overcome.

Please do not waste 1 hour & 25 minutes of your life watching this. It's the worst movie I've ever seen. Sharknado is more realistic than this. The acting is terrible. The characters are annoying and stereotypical. Don't even get me started on the sharks. One; they don't hunt in packs. Two, the CGI was terrible. And three, how did they manage to kill everyone else but not the main girl?? I honestly think they spent most of their budget on the plane in the beginning. Absolute waste of time. I would rather be blind than have to sit through that again.

Poke my eyes out. I want that hour plus back, and I want my 1 Star back. This whatever you call it made no sense at every turn. Be prepared for a great laugh, growling sharks, no common sense, nobody can swim or act.
