The weirdest, longest tampon commercial ever.
roobear-6708721 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Run Sweetheart, Run had some decent moments, but boy did it talk about tampons a lot. I'm a woman, so I get it. Periods happen and they suck. Cherie, the protagonist, got her period. She mentioned multiple times how she needed tampons.

Anyway, the actress who played Cherie, played her part well. It was sweet when her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend had her back. It didn't end well for her, though.

When Cherie and Ethan were in the church, I was a little disappointed they didn't show what Ethan's true form was. The Father was awesome for saving her, though. I loved how the church had a secret passageway that lead to a club of some sort. Lol her outfit in the club made her look like a badass.

Mess of a movie, props to the cast for trying
la_rubiecita29 October 2022
Breaking the 4th wall unsuccessfully since it looks like a mistake, 'surprise' moments of the bag guy showing up that are wholly predictable and completely unrealistic, ppl who are supposed to be on her side but are 'in' on it that is given away after 5 seconds removing all tension, I mean give your audience some credit. Stop spelling everything out. I want to give the Ella Balinska and Pillar Asbeak some credit, they are really trying. The female protagonist is not allowed to act smartly, she's in panic mode the whole movie. She gets trapped somewhere, door knob rattles and instead of looking for another way out or a weapon, she's made to come out through the same door looking like a deer in headlights. Where is the tension and build up in that? I was not scared even one second. It's not the acting that's the problem by way, I need to say that. The cast is really trying. It's bad direction. It feels like a film school movie, though students may do better with way less budget.

Entertaining For Some But Not For Everyone
Foutainoflife30 October 2022
Cherie goes to a meeting/date with Ethan. It starts off great and ends badly.

The foundation of the story is the power struggle between men and women. So if you think this is feminist or would call it "woke", you probably aren't going to find much enjoyment in watching it.

I liked our lead character Cherie. She is beautiful, smart and has ambitious goals of becoming a lawyer. She starts out being sweet but develops nicely throughout the film.

Ethan, our antagonist, is wealthy, handsome and aside from having a hair triggered temper when it comes to his fear of dogs, seems to be a decent guy. Cherie warms to him but is quickly turned off when a nightcap turns ugly. She will spend the whole movie trying to get away from Ethan, who has every intention of killing her if he gets to her by nights end.

The story has a few plot holes and unexplained events that, had they been focused on, would have made the movie much better. It is filmed and acted well but it could've used a boost in the special effects department.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I was entertained and wouldn't mind recommending it to friends.

Underwhelmed
kkmgirl-448-1119882 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I read the negative reviews and should have listened- they're true. I'm a woman who is tired of watching these overexaggerated depictions of female victimhood. Why can't I just get an entertaining movie that isn't shoving a message down my throat while beating me over the head with it? I was the only female child in a large family of males, I've traveled the world alone, and I pretty much can do anything and everything I want, without being harassed 24/7 by a man. So I guess this message doesn't work on me. I've been sexuality harassed at work and now I don't work there. I've been groped in public and smacked a few for it. I'm not denying it exists, but I think we've mostly acknowledged it as a society. Okay, so where's the solution? I don't need to keep pulling off scabs to prove a point. This movie is one big bloody scab and serves no real purpose. Besides ridiculous plot holes (who the hell puts used bloody tissue back in their purse?! Blech- flush the damn thing) and a long drawn out cat and mouse game that doesn't make much sense, the style and direction were a mish-mash. The oldies music, roller rink scene, breaking the 4th wall, etc. Ended up competing with each other, resulting in no winners. The lead actress was pretty solid, but I grew tired of the "I need a tampon" speech real quick when she had a huge gaping wound on her head with no bandage 95% of the time. The ghoul flees when a dog is around, so why not spend the night in a kennel? Done. But wait! We first have to find the underground lady boot camp where spas and karate collide, so we can dress up like Ralph Macchio to destroy an all powerful entity that has survived longer than humans. Ok. I guess sunlight and fire is all they needed, though. Too bad the First Lady never thought to just burn the guy's house down during the daytime these last millenia. So the takeaway is that men are pigs and women will always be victims, until we put on our kimono to kick ass? Pfffft.

Here's the deal with this one...
xxmisssvxx29 October 2022
Let me get straight to it - this movie is good for what is but it does have holes in it, holes that need more context overall. Nonetheless, the film keeps your attention throughout the film even though you will have a lot of questions. It can't go deeper within all that's happening as the film goes on, and the answers you want are where those holes are in the story.

Production quality is solid but the storyline is where the questions begin to build. You hope for answers but you don't really get them, only a possible hint that feels like it's left open to your own interpretation, yet you can't stop watching it because you want to, have to see how the film ends for Cherie (the main character).

Towards the end of the film is where it gets sort of weird a little bit, maybe a little cheesy. In its entirety, you're left wondering the what, when, where, and why.

If you're going to watch it, expect a weird story but also know there's holes. Enjoy.

Spoiled by over the top messaging
stephenrobertpencil27 December 2022
This film is a real shame. It had the makings of a decent thriller but the heavy handed #metoo messaging ruins the immersion. Every man in it is irredeemably evil / stupid even when it makes absolutely no sense from a character motivation viewpoint. Rather than spending time on a plot it lurches from one evil misogyny trope to the next, sexist boss, man fondling on the tube, evil white billionaire, evil white male cop, selfish former boyfriend etc. At the end of the film all you are left thinking is damn who hurt you re the writers.

You really don't have to hit your audience in the face with your message in every scene.

Ella Balinska keeps things moving despite poor third act
adotson-9823330 October 2022
Run Sweetheart Run has a very simple concept, that works thanks to a great lead performance and an entertaining first two acts. Unfortunately it doesn't fully stick the landing.

The positives of this movie, of course Ella Balinska is great. She is easily the best part about this movie and did a really nice job. Pilou Asbæk was also pretty good as the villain. The movie is very well directed with some nice cinematography. There's some nice stylistic choices that give the movie a kinda fun feel. It's very fast paced and once the movie starts, it never really stops. Its constantly entertaining from start to finish which made this movie a fun watch.

However this film suffers from its final 20 minutes. It completely shifts into something quite ridiculous, and it almost steered away the first two acts. It suddenly tries to bash you with this message in the final act that just kinda felt a little too much. And finally I felt that the film had too many scenes of 4th wall breaking. It felt very strange and rather distracting.

Overall despite a disappointing final act, and strange stylistic choices, Run Sweetheart Run is a fun movie elevated by a great lead performance, fast pacing, and good directing.

Trips over its feminist message to come crashing down in a heap.
BA_Harrison2 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Law student Cherie (Ella Balinska) lands herself a job at a prestigious firm. When she books a business meeting for her boss at the same time as his anniversary dinner with his wife, Cherie steps in and meets the client - suave millionaire Ethan Sacks (Pilou Asbæk). The pair hit it off, and the evening turns into a date, but when Ethan invites Cherie into his house for a nightcap, he attacks her. Cherie runs for her life, relentlessly pursued by Ethan...

I was fully on board with this film while it was a simple fight for survival against a seemingly unstoppable maniac, even when it became apparent that Ethan was more than just an ordinary man. Balinska's terror was more than credible and the cat-and-mouse action was handled reasonably enough by director Shana Feste. But then they had to turn the film into a piece of feminist claptrap claiming that all evil on the Earth is caused by men (the male sex personified by Ethan, presumably the devil himself), who have conspired for millennia to keep women subservient by any means necessary.

I'm all for a spot of female empowerment, but this is pure sexist garbage. I knew the film was going off the rails with the introduction of a group of irritating girl-power ravers (who thankfully don't stay alive for too long) and a female dog that conveniently turns up to scare off the bad guy (who, for some reason, is afraid of mutts), but it keeps on getting worse and worse, leading to a preposterous finalé in which Cherie defeats the devil, helped by a secret society of women dressed in karate outfits.

Having kicked male butt, Cherie returns home to her infant daughter, seemingly oblivious to the fact that she has a gaping hole in the middle of each hand that would require urgent medical attention.

3.5/10, rounded down to 3 for the fact that Cherie somehow managed to use a stranger's iPhone without the need for a passcode.

An innovative horror movie with a brilliant acting crew
mvahidalizadeh30 October 2022
This is the story of a girl who double-books his boss. Since one of the bookings is for her boss's anniversary, the girl has to go to the other event which is a meeting a client, and the story begins. The story is very innovative. It is hard to predict what comes next. I liked the ending. The acting crew was awesome. Ella Balinska, Pilou Asbaek, and Shohreh Aghdashloo played well in this movie. The special effects were wonderful. The background music and sound effects were in sync with the scenes. This is a well-made horror movie. You see unique movements of the camera, especially in the final scene. I recommend this movie to horror genre fans.

I give it a 3, generously
vixen_thevision2 November 2022
The plot and storyline was good. The execution and direction was terrible. I didn't know if homie was a vampire, a monster, the devil, a stalker. It was just a mess in my opinion. These new age thriller movies are just not the same as the old school ones. They use to really put it together. And put thought into it. In my opinion, all the new age movies try to focus on is trying to reflect the "modern day" lifestyle, and no real afford is going into creating the movie itself. Everybody in Hollywood now wants to be socially appeasing to the modern lifestyle, that no real thought is going into directing.

I Liked It
carlcasso29 October 2022
Firstly let's remember this is a horror and not looking to win best picture at the award ceremonies.

It's started well, it moves along well and it ends well.

Ella Balinska does a great job as the lead.

She's gorgeous, sexy and tough.

She was excellent the Resident Evil Reboot. She's a super lead.

Pilou Asbaek is excellent as the baddie and your really routing for Ella to kick his arse.

I've seen lots of comments about plot holes.

Seriously?

Have you watched many horror movies .

This is one of the better modern horrors I've seen.

Ella Balinska is one to watch.

I've recently seen her in Charlie's Angels and Junction 9 and knew she was going to get better with every project .

Put this one on your Halloween watch list.

You won't regret it !

Just keep running!
garethwooduk10 November 2022
What starts out a very trivial plot turns in to an all out crazy ride of survival horror at night...

Where you kind of think the story is going becomes something completely different... With subtle clues leading to a discovery of a protected secret of one of our main antagonists....

I loved the feel of this movie, very stylish something similar to 'DRIVE' glossy... Very down town L. A with great music....

But it's the plot that truly delivers as the story unfolds, it takes on this whole new pace of movie with our lead 'Cherie' trying to survive, this film is made of 2 halves one lending to the other!

OMG

Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews for movies that need to have spoiler warnings on them but in this case I'll break my own rule. I have questions: What was up with the word RUN ! Showing up at random times? It's the title of the movie we know she has to run. And all of the plot twists are completely not. I could see them coming from a mile away. Her problems are handled in very unrealistic ways. In 2022 no one would criticize her for not having the babysitter number memorized. We all just put the numbers in our phones. The true nature of the villain is obvious. The whole movie just left like "what was that supposed to be ".

Pitiful
lesliecurtin28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched quite a few movies the past few weeks since I'm recovering from surgery. This Hass to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen in an all my 68 years on this planet.

It couldn't decide is it a feminist film? Is it a mystical film? Is it a slasher film? Who would know? There's really no way to describe this except maybe it's a two hour long Tampax ad. The heroine is a whiner. I knew it was lost when she wrapped that red bandanna around her head like Ralph Macchio in the karate kid! The soundtrack, I think maybe they're trying to be hip- there's playing music from the 60s that's just unbelievably ridiculous. The silliest scene of all: she's sitting a car with a bunch of other girls- they turn up the radio and she starts to smile even though she's being chased by ..... There was nothing redeeming about this movie no pun intended.

"He'll go after your daughter next."
aarpcats13 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
You don't own me, and you can't have my daughter either.

If only sexism and toxic patriarchy were as easy to defeat as an immortal fallen vampire/angel with gasoline for blood. But it isn't, and that's why we need parables like this one, We feel like we are on our own, but we keep going for our daughters,

I loved the originality of this movie. I loved that it starred a heroine, not a hero.

This isn't the best script in history. It doesn't have the best actresses. It's dimly lit, and the sound production is off. But it is scary, innovative and fun. It's why we watch independent films.

If you are a woman, you'll love it.

Very Confusing Movie
kskmah29 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Very Confusing Movie. What the hell was the bad guy? Demon, nope. Vampire, nope. So what? Demons and vampires can't go in church. Vampires can't take holy water. BUT sun light can kill or hurt him? WTF? You can't have some weaknesses and not have all of them. That is just stupid. Why did the bad guy play with his victim? Why did he let her run from his house? He killed 6 people with guns and knives but this one woman escaped him like 5 times. LOL. He can turn invisible? WTF? This movie really got stupid. The best part is this bad guy is afraid of dogs? Why the hell is he scared of dogs? Makes no sense whatsoever.

It wasn't as bad as people are saying
joeyg-149-9944417 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Was it a great movie? No. Was it a disaster? Absolutely not. It's a modern day suspense horror "B" film, nothing more, nothing less, and it was fairly entertaining. Script was okay, acted well by most of the actors, cinematography is on par with today's standards. And other than leaving a bit unresolved, there was nothing warranting this less than maybe a 6 in my opinion. I didn't care for "patriarchy" twist, but whatever, it didn't detract from or even really make the movie. "He can smell your blood" seemed to bother some reviewers, really? Is it just because of the mestral cycle aspect? Because that ans extremely similar lines have been said in other movies and I've heard no one complain. Honestly it works with the plot and if you're bothered by a woman's normal bodily functions being portrayed in a film then maybe you should watch something G-rated because you're a child. Period blood? Ew. Head ripped off? Yay! Grow up.

The person who made the trailer deserves an award
casp-429931 November 2022
The trailer looked like an amazing Halloween movie, but my wife and I were surprised to find a true comedic gem instead. I can't recall the last time we laughed so much.

It just seemed like the director's research for this film involved taking elements from Kill Bill, Fright Night, Dracula 2,000, Halloween (mainly the music), smashing all of these together, and then sprinkling in dialogue/plot that clearly came from a feminist AI that knew the words of a true feminist yet couldn't quite get those words to flow together naturally.

All in all, this movie doubles as a horror/thriller and a parody of itself. I highly recommend. The reason why I marked it so low is because it was not classified as a comedy. If it were classified as such, 10 out 10 easily.

You can tell who decided to be offended without actually paying attention to the movie.
karudderham15 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Was this a perfect movie? No.

Was this a movie that mirrors the every day experiences of females pushed to the nth degree? Yes.

Any female that is over the age of 20 can tell you about a lot of these experiences. (That's not to say it doesn't happen to younger females as unfortunately it does) The main character opens dealing with a male HR rep that makes not so subtle hints that she will not be advanced because she's female and she must remain calm, she is later sexually harassed and assaulted on a bus on the way home and again must remain calm and can not simply scream, to draw attention to the ordeal because then not only does she become viewed as emotional/excitable she becomes the problematic black woman. With the exception of the last part every woman you know have been in this situation. Every one of them and it rings more true now than it did before because we actually talk about it openly now.

Onto the date, she thinks she meets a nice guy who seems genuinely interested her but the warning signs are there. The sudden irritation and barely concealed hostility that comes with being corrected when the female doesn't immediately defer to the male, the out bursts of unexplained anger over small things, the prodding to go home alone with this person despite having said no before it becomes easier to simply give in and when the door closes the horrific part is the violence, abuse, is left to your imagination before she comes fleeing out of the door with her clothing torn and her flesh bloodied and bruised.

This happens frightening often, when someone thinks they with a safe person and they turn out to be anything but that. Social commentary seems to be the main point of the story. Cherie begs for help and very few are interested in helping her, money and privilege excuse his behavior to the police (yes - this does happen) and her decent continues.

People try to help but are frightened away with threats of violence (a harsh reality), people are silenced, and still she tries to keep looking for help.

It's disturbing to anyone who has been in an abusive relationship or has been assaulted and real empathy is felt towards Cherie who simply wants to be safe and to go home. The point isn't that the hostile person is a white male, the point is this can happen to anyone at anytime.

If you can't relate to her journey be grateful, more than a few of us most certainly can even with the supernatural elements mixed in.

1:38:03 of my life I will never get back....
oddityboxkeeper31 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wear my suspension of disbelief spectacles going into every movie. But this steamer was physically painful to watch. Next to no character development, a mishmash of genres and a comical amount of menstrual blood. The first half was promising and then the writer/directors mescaline must have kicked in. If you like watching a woman search for a tampon while hiding from a vampire/demon/god/something-or-other that can kill everyone but the one hes after, fire up that microwave popcorn. But don't say you haven't been warned. Also, 4.5 rating on Amazon shows how flawed that rating system is. I'd rather have watched static while getting a root canal.

Accomplished thriller/horror
evel197129 October 2022
Emphasis on the former.

While the message may be a little on the nose, it's perhaps necessary in the world at the moment.

There's some accomplished filmmaking here by Shana Feste though. The fourth wall work is inspired, essentially editting what we do not *need* to see and therefore enforcing the point of the film in one fell swoop.

And dealing with menstruation this ... boldly is also surely of great value. Sad it needs to be but that's again where the piece shows its worth.

Epla Balinska and Pilou Asbaek are ripe for their respective roles. Watch as the latter halts you from encroaching on his 'work'.

If I had a teenage daughter old enough to see it, I'd be showing her this film.

May keep you on your toes but with some holes
simplebodhi4 December 2022
I have a very short attention span and there is just enough suspense in this movie to keep me watching. The concept of run something run (for example "Run Lola Run" is not new.

But there are scenes where I would've wanted to know in more detail, like the scene where the antagonist reveals himself to the protagonist. However, we don't get to see who he is or what he looks like. Towards the end, we get to know what he is but only through words. It's vague about what the antagonist is. There are also scenes where the antagonist is ripping people apart or killing them. In those scenes, you don't get to see what's going on. You only hear sounds. The reason for that could either to be to save dollars on special effects or it could be a way to allow the audience to guess or imagine what's going on.

Overall, you may enjoy it if you like cheap thrills that's not too scary like the movie Scream but with less jump scares.

No, no, no!!! Stop! I can't believe in what I just watched!!!
m-george-8663329 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I wanna say: that is a worst movie I have ever watched!!!!! It's so stupid! Just unbelievable... I have no idea why someone did this.. I was feeling cringe since first second till the end... OMG.. I have no words.. I wanna say to much... but I'm at a loss! Okay I've already got used to it : White men are a true evil - sexists, rapists, racists, abusers and so on and so forth... So many modern movies have touched this topic, but this piece of... ART - is beyond my comprehension!!! Why is so huge anger to white people? It's almost 2023!! Stop making this kind of movie.. or at least do it not so tasteless and unambiguous!

P. s. The vampire or the werewolf or someone else is able to kill a bunch of guys with gun, but he afraid of a dog!!! Lol!!! Garbage.

Why the overall score of 5?
plasssaskia30 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So the reason why I watched the film was because the actor Cherie looked pretty familiar. I actually thought she was the actress from another movie called "sweetheart" that I enjoyed. However she looked familiar because she starred in Netflix Resident Evil show which turned out to be terrible as well. This movie left me with questions so I wrote down my commentary as it was playing.

So she really couldnt flush it down the toilet

She went skating which is risky on ur period when the only protect is the paper tusc. Would b scared n excuse myself or just b honest

1. Why didn't she just flush the tissue down the tiolet? She put it in her purse like its a big secret and men dont know or understand periods

2. Why was it necessary to put the word RUN on the screen when she was about to. It look silly and annoying.

3. TheMovie doesn't show any of the action, killing or when he transforms

4. When she took the girls phone from her bag is unrealistic because most phones have password.

5. She survives all encounters and come out alive while people who come into contact with her die. For example the random dog that came out of no where and saved her

5. She made a statement saying " theres no way im going back out there " . Did She forgot she have a daughter" who Ethan literally said he would raise as his own.

6. She was dress up like the karate kid and hardly did any besides head butting him.and throwing some rocks to break the screen light.

7. She was bleeding all over but she just threw her tampon in the highway and that was stronger then the smell coming from the other wounds.

This movie was disappointing but i watch to see how it would eat. Please do yourself a favor and skip it.

The Hunter and the Hunted
lavatch1 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For an Amazon Prime feature film, "Run, Sweetheart, Run" was a disappointment. The film began with what appeared to be a feminist message with Chérie Vida taking a stand for the female employees in the law firm where she works. Later in the film, Chérie and three other women proclaim the current year as "The Year of the Woman." But the message was hollow, based on the film's content. Even the film's title had a sexist ring.

A demonic creature, perhaps a werewolf, is on the loose with the overall objective of keeping women subservient in the world. The drama unfolded as a lengthy chase scene through the night in Los Angeles, as "Eric" plays a game of "the hunter and the hunted" with Chérie.

The actress playing Chérie was terrific in what turned into a thankless role. The emphasis was on a set of gruesome action scenes with the werewolf Ethan bumping off interesting characters like Chérie's ex-husband Trey.

Until Chérie meets "The First Lady," her chances of surviving the night appear bleak. The confrontations of Chérie with Evan were repetitive and lackluster. The film never broke through its predictable action sequences to deliver its message, becoming only a routine horror film.
