I fellFor Choi Jin Hyuk
lmerana23 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen the male lead in othe dramas before I saw this kdrama, but I loke him here the best. They have such a great chemistry with the girl and they have lots of kisses that I love. Although I liked the girl in the kdrama in Fight my Way, she still have a great chemistry with the lead. The second leads are fine and the concept of the cinderella amnesia was not that bad. I usually hate the amnesia concept because of repetitiveness and the returning of the memory is important and must be delivered well. otherwise it will not be good. Almost everything is fine but I didn't like that they sang at the end.

Its entertaining enough :)

Warning: Spoilers
I mean, if you ignore the fact that the script makes no sense whatsoever you will be fine and you will even enjoy it. The amount of holes and nonsense in the script is endless, the amnesia thing is not actually consistent and the guy walk around recognizing everything and living life completely normally with the only help of a few sentences he writes on a journal is just not believable! But once you decide to watch it without analyzing it or overthinking it it's entertaining enough!

The Perfect Balance of Cheesy and Angsty Romance
fake_moviestar12 October 2020
I really didn't know what to expect from this show but to be honest it exceeded my expectations. Was it perfect? No. There were some plot holes and things that didn't 100% make sense, but the story was very enjoyable, with some really great performances from our actors. I didn't expect this show to be that serious, but it definitely had it's moments. Jin Hyuk was excellent in this, showing a really amazing range of emotions as a man struggling with memory loss. Ha Yoon was also great as the female lead; her character was one of those rare female characters that isn't a giggly pushover and you can't help but root for her. Also a mention of Ki Joon, our male lead's younger cousin, who was super cute and brought a childish, comedic charm to the show. Overall this is a really enjoyable watch, I'm happy with how it ended, and I thought the romance was believable and well developed. Not sure why it isn't rated higher!

Rollercoaster of smiling and crying.
marivanwagtendonk4 November 2018
The first episode starts off like an overly romantic comedy, but the next episodes prove that not all things are what they look like at first sight.

Yes, it's slightly predictable. But - due to great cinematic - you will still hate the antagonists and what they get away with, feel for everyone involved in the tragedies and pray for the future of the leads.

This is one of the first series that I'd actually recommend watching, if only for the awareness of Alzheimer woven throughout the story - or how your family forever affects your life - both good and bad.

Great chemistry

Love the chemistry between the leads. The OST is nice. Prefer this to Secretary Kim ( which I find over-rated).

Classic K-Drama with Excellent Acting & Great Romance
nishera28 February 2021
When it comes to classic style Romantic K-Dramas, it can be hard to find any that really stand out from the pack. This one does.

As per the "classic" label, the overall plot for this show is pretty unrealistic, littered with many of the typical cliches and "impossible coincidence" tropes that define the genre. However, those plot devices fade into the background next to the deep and emotional performances delivered by the entire cast. Especially CJH, who really makes you feel the despair and loneliness suffered by people with dementia (not to mention his other situations) .

While it is the acting that truly carries this show, the beautiful cinematography and moving script also deserve a mention. I especially loved all the impromptu "supper poetry" scenes. And while I personally might have liked it if the story's antagonists had been given a bit more dimension, on the other hand, they weren't all paper thin or completely stereotypical bad guys either.

I have no idea why the IMDb ratings are so low, but if you go for classic K-Drama with great acting and plenty of romance, don't be put off and give this show a chance. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Recommended!

ROMANCE RATING: * * * 9.5/10. With fantastic chemistry between the leads and an astonishing (by K-Drama standards) 7+ kiss scenes, this film won't disappoint romance junkies. CJH is unquestionably an excellent actor in plenty of ways, but honestly it's his his skillful and passionate kiss scenes that I'm most a fan of! :)

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews26 October 2018
Devilish Joy is a drama packed with cliche and corny scenes. The cinematography, at least, was gorgeous. As a whole, the story was okay, though the first episode was the most rediculous one I have ever watched. Things got better after that, but still, the drama lacked originality. The performances, moreover, were good, but I think that the couple needed a tick more chemistry to support the over the top romance that they had to present. However, the leading lady was really good and enjoyable. Though, Hoya felt out of place in this character.

I am charmed by the simplicity of the drama!
tanushree-raha101928 December 2021
There is nothing new in this drama yet you will find something that will refresh you instantly.

The music, the side characters and most of all the main leads made the drama into something precious.

Some incidences are extremely cliché and corny but some moments will make you go awe.

Chemistry: I am a sucker for good romance and good chemistry. The chemistry is sizzling! Their acting felt very natural. Their relationship is mature and sensual.

This pairing was all I could ask for, they are cute, sexy and that height difference...omg it was the cutest!!!

Choi Jin Hyuk: I adore Choi Jin Hyuk! Before starting this series I read this somewhere that "Either Jin Hyuk found a drama that appears to ideally fit to his own character, or they changed it a bit to fit him, because he is superb in it." and this is absolutely true because CJH has an ability to play characters, that seems simple and lighthearted, at the same time, being incredibly deep and sophisticated.

I love how his smile reaches his eyes and his voice...oh his voice!

Song Ha Yoon: She is cute and charming and equally enjoyable. Looked extremely cute with the ML. I loved her wearing different white outfits throughout the show. It showed her positive attitude for all that she had gone through.

Her character was strong and resilient without being hard.

OSTs: "Tuk Tuk" will make you feel like you are in love. It fits perfectly on the couples.

  • Choi Jin Hyuk's "Love to forget" is soothing too.

Lastly, all I can say is its definitely worth watching drama of the strength of memories and connections between lovers.

Romantic but Sad to Watch
PalmBeachG15 November 2022
Not my favorite K-Drama, but I always watch to the end. Romantic in some parts, and the chemistry between the main male lead and the main female lead seemed to be good. I personally thought the car accident scene was too gruesome for me - I usually like to watch romantic K-Drama to get away from that kind of thing. Laying in the street with no one helping while he is dying in a gruesome pool of blood where his head was smashed is not something I really want to see on a romantic show. The memory bits coming back were a little too boring as well and thought it was kind of sad to keep watching it over and over again. The ending could have been a little happier IMO to lighten the mood of all the sadness from the previous episodes.
