#SavedLucifer

Lucifer is back! Tom Ellis' Lucifer still has all the quip and charm that makes him so lovable, and despite a changing dynamic between himself and the detective, it's still their chemistry that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. Exactly what I was hoping for, and after months and months rewatching the first 3 seasons waiting for this, I wasn't disappointed.

Absolutely what and how it should've been!

The show has maintained every attribute that made fans love Lucifer in the first place and enhanced all of the others that were missing. The CGI rendering is perfect and the thrills have already begun at an excellent pace for a pilot. Moving onto the 2nd episode now! bye!

The Devil is in the details.

Warning: Spoilers
After Chloe saw Lucifer's real appearance for the first time in Ep.24 season 3, it was followed by 2 puzzling episodes that answered nothing that Ep.24 brought up. What would Chloe do? What was she feeling? It made more sense if season 3 ended with Ep.24. But thank God, Netflix gave us Season 4.

This episode was beautifully executed almost as if it was a pilot. You could understand the plot even if you have not seen the previous seasons. And many questions (Ep.24) were answered. The thirst have been quenched. Still, more devil nudity please.

I would never get tired of the devil jokes, bravos for keeping them fresh & funny. I was first hooked by the evil but stayed for the warmth and humor. Netflix got it right this time by really answering to what the audience truly desire.

Thank you, Netflix
FrankZZ9 May 2019
I am so grateful that Netflix actually listened to the public outcry of the Lucifer fan base and took a chance. I am also extremely thankful that they were able to secure the original cast. Just for reference, the last huge network boardroom disaster that cancelled "last man standing" unfortunately left us with a changed cast after the rescue of the show, and since i watch both, it makes me appreciate Netflix even more for doing everything possible to get the original cast. Therefore I'm also thankful for the cast to not jump the sunk ship immediately and have faith in the power of numbers (the hardcore fan base) who acted swiftly and very loudly. Please, every fan of this show, don't forget to show Netflix your gratitude by taking a few minutes to drop them a line (And hinting that we'd really, really hope for more episodes it longer seasons, even if they decide to spoil us by splitting the season in two or three releases of 7 to 10 episodes over a year)

I apologize that this is not really a review of this episode, but honestly, the ratings on the first day speak for themselves and as a huge fan and repeat binge-watcher of Lucifer, Netflix did not disappoint at all. If anything, I feel a long, sleepless night coming on and a "sick call" to work tomorrow, to rewatch all 10 episodes. Every time I rewatch an episode, I seem to find some little gem or detail I missed before and every time I'm at the edge of my lazyboy as if I don't already know how it ends. Not only the best entertainment currently on the screen, but also very smart and offering possible answers to many "what if" and "why not" questions to sceptical agnostics like me. I know of many self-proclaimed "very religious" people here in the "bible belt" of the US who refused to watch the show and demonized it nonetheless, but after relentless begging from me gave it a try and later not only praised it for its entertainment value, but also said it made them rethink the age old teachings because "what if/why not" and to me that was like getting my kids to voluntarily clean their rooms and enjoying it.

Thanks again to everybody that made this well written and acted comeback, in case one of them actually looks at the comments, and thanks to all you diehard fans who went all out to save one of the greatest shows in probably 50 years from the chopping block, just so there can be another "reality" show or something else we already have too many of.

Thanks also for letting me rant on here. But I just had to say it in public. Now back to the next episode and a fresh can of (insert name here of popular) energy drink.

PS: while I think the entire cast is brilliant, I do agree with some other comments that the Chloe character sometimes comes across a bit stiff/wooden/forced. Maybe she's written that way, maybe the actress tries a bit too hard, but let's hope she loosens up a bit over the next 4 or 5 seasons to match the chemistry of the others.

So glad this show is back!!!
Top_Dawg_Critic10 May 2019
I'm a TV and movie buff, and really picky and analytical in what I watch. This show from the start had cliche's, stereotypes and plot issues. BUT... oddly enough, they were just the right amount mixed in with sass, sexiness, adventure, comedy and thrills. This show is an addiction, and there's no pill or therapy to fix that, and I'm totally fine with that! Now to binge-watch this season and hope for a 5th!! Welcome back Luci!

Renewed with praise!
lexcamel9 May 2019
Lucifer is one of the best series of today, perfectly balances the comedy with the drama, you laugh, you get angry, you get agusty, in equal parts! In this fourth season my speculation was a decline in production, NetFlix has a habit of trying to "socialize" (politically correct) their productions, but it does not seem that this happened to Lucifer (still good)! It's so much fun! 9 stars!

Glad they decided to embrace more the fantasy side of the show
Ashitaka1378 May 2019
Very good first episode, glad they decided to embrace more the fantasy side of the show; now that the detective knows the truth there is going to be a new dynamic between them for the better, and more fantastic moments.

The new series look promising and Lucifer is just spot on but...The detective... I cannot even concentrate on the subject of their discussion without being distractes by way too many facial interventions on her...

paid cronies everywhere...
conyo13 May 2019
Unfortunately, this (and not only this) thread was hijacked by paid staffers (or maybe even unpaid interns?). This has a 9+ rating right now? Come on! 5 or 6 would be more adequate. Also, it's hard to watch what Ms German did to her face :( I'm not sure whether it was lip-enhancement (hyaluronic acid?), or botox, or something else altogether - but unfortunately it showed, a lot. Pity, she was so beatufil when natural.

The hidden tension makes this episode even better in light of later episodes
cartesiantheater9 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
We're talking about a woman who saw the devil's true form, and after a month of disappearing suddenly comes back and is, more or less, fine? I hope you didn't buy it, because the writers didn't, and they completely did this perfectly. Chloe plays the role as someone who has found a way to deal with the fact that her dear friend is "secretly" the devil (although he never hid the fact, obviously she thought it was some weird psychological metaphor). But later episodes where it reveals this was all just a sham she was putting up makes it pay off in a big way. The realness of it really smashes her like a tsunami, and it's very well done.

As for the rest of the characters, the fact that Charlotte Richards' demise is still hanging over them all in a very character-arc affecting way is excellent. The bottom line here is the writers have again taken an absurd premise and made it feel real, while also adding touches of hilarity along the way. I'm not saying this is Shakespear, but these guys have a very delicate task and they've done the characters justice.

Warning: Spoilers
OH MY GOD! This episode is amazing. The acting is spotless. The pace is just perfect. And what can I say? I don't even know what the last part, when she was talking with the priest, is about, but for some reason even the events leading to that discussion made me cry. Fantastic. I waited for a year, was not disappointed.

I missed this show so much, and the first episode of the season delivered
I loved it. After the huge cliffhanger of the last season, I really wanted to see how it would continue and what's the mystery behind Decker.

Netflix did not change much, just a but more nudity, but overall the feel is the same as it was in the previous seasons.

Thank You, Netflix!
Anonnamus17 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
As a newcomer to the show, I had no idea it was actually cancelled and that Netflix had picked it up. I'm grateful for this for two reasons.

1) I love this show and it would have been a travesty to end it, especially with that amazing season 3 finale. 2) Tom Ellis's naked rear end.

When I learned Netflix had picked up the series, I hoped the writers would take advantage of their creative freedom and use it to spice up the script a bit and maybe throw a little Lucifer nudity our way. First episode in and they didn't disappoint.

I only have a couple of small issues with this premiere. Why is Dan so angry at Lucifer? I wracked my brain but couldn't remember anything happening between the two of them in the finale. Dan has every right to mourn and should have actually taken the time to do so, but why he chose Lucifer specifically to take it out on, I don't understand. Also, Chloe. What are you up to? Don't undergo a complete personality change and scheme with some priest to harm Lucifer. You're too good for that.

Other things I liked about this episode were the return of a winged Amenadiel and of a season 2 Maze. I loved that she and Trixie made up, but hated that Chloe intentionally tried to keep them away from each other. Ella was spastically awesome, per usual. If Lucifer really wanted to prove he was the devil, all he had to do was tell her Ray-Ray was his sister.

I will miss Tricia Helfer's appearance on the show, but all in all, this was a solid promising start to what I hope will be the best season yet. I see that it's a shorter season, as is Netflix style, but hopefully with content that will make the short season worth it. Thanks again, Netflix!

Just Stoked Netflix Picked up Lucifer and on a Plus point after watching up to episode 5 now "It's Back to how it was" pure Brilliance Series 4 so far.BRAVO NETFLIX!

If I have one Negative it would be directed at "Chloe" (Lauren German) Stay off the Botox Babe your starting to look Cat like!!! (Why these Yanks or Canadians "if she's Canadian"feel the need to mess with nature is beyond me As she's a babe without the Botox or going under the knife and such a shame your doing this to yourself!! Ageing Gracefully is the way Grasshopper!

Warning: Spoilers
Last time on Lucifer Chloe found out that her partener was actually... well... the devil. This episode picks up after about a month from the last episode and it has everything you could ask for from this TV Show. I've always enjoyed Tom Ellis's performance as a charismatic lead that seems to fit him perfectly. Regarding the episode, it seems as the last 5 minutes shifted the tone and central focus of the show when we discover Chloe has some sort of secret agenda. This shift takes you out of that loop that the show seemed to follow, appearance of a case, Chloe and Lucifer work together to solve it and then doing so, along the way developing some secondary plot point. With that being said, I enjoyed the whole episode and am looking forward for more of the same quality.

Warning: Spoilers
The reason for Dan's problems with Lucifer was in season 3 episode 25, Lucifer knew that Pierce (Cain) was the Sinnerman and known for a while. If he, Lucifer, had told Chloe and Dan earlier Pierce(Cain) would not have been able to kill Charlotte. And Charlotte sacrifices herself to save Amenadiel. Self sacrifice for another is apparently an automatic trip to heaven. It happened to Constantine when he traded his soul for the detective sister soul to get out of heaven.

Doesn't feel like Lucifer anymore
molly-mortensen13 June 2019
What should have been the best episode ever was one of the worst. They took the stupid and amplified it.

It was like the characters were parodies of themselves. I was surprised they were the same actors because they just felt wrong. I realized that it was largely due to the two mains. Their chemistry was gone. Lucifer was way over the top and Chloe just acted weird, like a Stepford wife.

Why does Dan hate Lucifer now? He was fine with the devil after everything happened.

The other minor characters were fine. Maze felt back to her old self. Amenadiel finding he missed Earth was interesting. Ella was pretty much the same, except struggling with her faith. Linda wasn't in it enough to know how she'll be in the new Lucifer.

Unfortunately, the continuing storyline with Chloe is horrible and totally unbelievable. So I don't hold out hope for the season.

I wanted to like this because so many devil powers! But it doesn't feel like Lucifer anymore.

Good news: I'm not longer sad it's cancelled.

Rated 9.9 for season 4? Are you kidding me?
Egotisticallectual10 May 2019
What in the world is going on here? Almost every single episode is rated 9.9 for season 4. I'm glad Lucifer is back but it was actually worse than before. It continued the unnecessary drama and the circle jerk of constantly going back and forth over stories and interactions that are only skin deep.

Lucifer still learning the same old lessons since season 1, it's as if we are just repeating things over and over and over and over.

This show is pretty much a chick-flick now, there are no story at all. Each character are downgraded to kindergarten level of intelligence I mean holy crap what is going on here?
