Keeps The Nikola Tesla Name Alive & Adds Questions...Mostly For The Faithful Though
AudioFileZ26 May 2018
Tesla...Some just know it as the groundbreaking all-electric car company. Of course everyone in the civilized world's life is extremely touched by Tesla's AC power and wireless patents everyday without ever thinking who pioneered it all. That's a serious omission in the population's collective consciousness. How could this be? All of us of a certain age intuitively knew that when the phone in our homes rang it was because of Alexander Graham Bell. History for whatever reasons largely marginalized, or even erased, Nikola Tesla who was a man whose life's work had so much more impact on the world than, probably, any other human being. This is a mystery that deserves delving into.

That's the set-up for History's "The Tesla Files" TV series. The show has three men of different persuations equally perplexed by the relative obsurity of the link between the man and his groundbreaking advancements which still have a huge impact in our everyday lives. Returning after a his former series "Rocket City Rednecks" got axed is astrophysicist Travis Taylor. Travis is a disarmingly whip-smart scientist who has worked for NASA and lives in Huntsville, Alabama. He certainly isn't your typical "egg-head" scientist and therein lies his charisma. It's as if you or me is sets out on a mission to find a hidden truth. He has two cohorts who bring to the table some welcome talents. Mark Seifert the author of what has become the best-selling Tesla biography to date and investigative journalist Jason Stapleton. Combined they believe they can prove some of Tesla's theoretical unfinished work and reveal even more that was scooped up after Tesla's death by the US government. It's a mixed bag as you might imagine. Some care by the crew does, more or less, actually prove some things while their paper trail researching often comes up short.

Here's the deal. Tesla is so important for the present, and possibly the future, that he deserves any attention that may be given. Uncovering the smoking gun of something as amazing as his AC induction motor is proving much more enigmatic. There are signs that, yes, Tesla was on to more amazing inventions and technologies. But, sussing these out 75-years or so later is more mystery than anything else. This is where the show, sadly, decends into similar History show pitfalls. Like Hitler escaping or real buried priceless artifacts on Oak Island much is speculated and little definitely proved. The show is entertaining enough without the discovery of anything sinister and groundbreaking. Tesla is so important that any attention at all is a good thing. That said I'm feeling it is, however, a show for those already with a keen interest in Tesla and science. The entertainment factor is just not enough for the average viewer while the true-life mystery is a great hook for the person who is already sold that Tesla was hampered after his initial great success by both his own eccentricness and, more so, by some extremely powerful persons. As such. I can enjoy this series quite a bit and hope it finds a decent enough audience to really go deep into the mhystery of why Nikola Tesla became almost unknown until recent times. I say give it try for yourself.

Very Entertaining & Informative (but too effusive about Electric Cars)
refordgarry24 September 2020
Congratulations guys on your research, about Tesla plus your forthright opinions. This has been a very watchable set of programs, exposing once again the role of the deep state in manipulating the information and the truth, not to mention the pure genuis of N. Tesla. Whilst "H" is 100% correct about the reason for the disfavor of electricity in the face of the oilman's money bonanza I feel they have skipped over the inconvenience of electricity, which is probably the prime reason why devices needing plugs were superseded by internal combustion engines, that were free to go anywhere, and would not fail if the Labor Unions or bad weather decided to "pull plugs". But the TV watcher will, nonetheless be impressed by the H Channel's scholarship and indefatigable search for the Truth. Very recommendable watch with the correct filter (as always).

Why was it cancelled?
lenahan1-18 June 2019
Why is it gone now? Why all the cover up and why were the researchers denied looking at that anything other than the top pages of any file they claim to have and show. They wouldn't let them verify anything by the signature of Tesla on the files or contracts. Of 80 files that Tesla said he had, why are only 20 in America, 50 in Serbia (i think it was) and more missing? Underground transmissions are amazing!

Tesla fan..

I do believe this shows purpose is great. It does have great information for people who know nothing about him. I do find it very repetitive at times. I do wish they were more thorough in their leads. But I do look forward to newer episodes. Who's to say there wasn't fowl play on the date of his death. Also everything points to him having a lab within the building, the connections need to be made on why the buildings plans changed. Did our current president have the show shutdown after it was published that his Uncle was involved? Keep up the good work.

I just watched all 5 first season episodes. This series is fascinating! I hope that's not the end of the investigation! I want to know more!

Good name- not always about Tesla thou
rob_honings19 September 2019
Very intrestring subject, only thy talk like 50% about Tesla and 50% about compleetly difrent subjects that are unrelated.

Series could be a 10/10 with more facts and more experiments. And probably with some smarter looking people that present the program

Good show for facts if you can stay awake
geary-robinson9 January 2019
This show is good for facts but every few minutes they keep repeating there conspiracy claims. For a person that is trying to get information on Tesla this is a good show

I vote for Season 2!
mapatrick741 February 2019
Just finished watching a very fascinating Season 1 on the Tesla Files and searched for a Season 2 or schedule. Was very disappointed to see it hasn't been renewed yet. I truly want to see the same cast of excellent researchers in each of their perspective fields solve these mysteries. Or get closer to more answers or more conclusive. Love the Tesla educational experiments too! This was fun and I want to know more!

More of the same....

Warning: Spoilers
You've seen this format dozens of times before. Each new episode starts off with previews of the last episodes and can go for 15 minutes before starting properly. It is highly repetitious and continually flashes back to scenes from previous episodes and you keep saying to yourself 'yes, I know that' and 'you've already said that'. It's as if they have very little information and are trying to tease it out to fill in the time.

Originally I was quite excited to see this. A promise of an actual investigation into a highly influential if somewhat mysterious inventor. The fist episode was great and then it slid badly into Reality TV and all the usual traps. There is a lot of speculation no backing material which shouldn't be hard to prove or disprove. My patience for this came to an end in episode three when they overlooked some promising leads and instead opted for the wow factor which didn't happen. One of the questions was 'How did Tesla afford to spend the last 10 years of his life in a, for that time, upmarket hotel like the New Yorker?' another question regarding the building of a huge generator in the basement area directly below the New Yorker that could power three building the same size. My thoughts were that they would ask to see records from the archives to find out who paid for his room and meals, receipts and bills of loading for equipment that must have been delivered to the New Yorker to build the generator. And maybe search for his tax returns to see who was paying him. ummm no, nothing.

Next they went to a building that housed some of his equipment and were told that they couldn't enter because of toxic mould. No worries, bio-suits and cameras? umm no, a drone with limited footage. And, it seems the graffiti artists had no problem with toxic mould. They didn't even bother to find out who manufactured the equipment in there (another source of informtaion?). Basically for an Investigative Reporter, he's a bit shallow in digging for information.

A promising series but I don't think these two could find an anchovy in a pizza. But then I guess that's not why they're doing this series.

It's a 2 from me for actually spelling his name correctly.

Love this show
capri2615 July 2018
Some reviewers are being way too critical. The show has to repeat things (as most History Channel shows do) in order to catch a new viewer. Love the Texas accent on on the astrophyscist, Surely, they will make more episodes because Tesla's work was too important to abandon the study now. I want more!

Way to much repetition
aussie-5440624 July 2019
While tesla deserves to be remembered as a great man this series could be reduced in length by almost half if they took out the repetition. This repetition tends to make the series boring to was tch. I would not watch it directly but record it and make liberal use of the fast forward button. Too repetitive

Fascinating series, its sudden disappearance is very worrying

Very very interesting - the show's sudden disappearance is also very very worrying - as if strangled in mid breath.

Love it
Imthebadest31 October 2020
I love this show. Learned lots of facts I did not know before but it looks like I'm not getting anymore episodes or seasons. I guess there really is a conspiracy to erase Tesla from history. Anybody who tries to help humanity in a positive way gets wiped out. The truth is hidden from all you sheep among this world and you deserve what you will eventually get.

Should have been a great documentary, but...
brislade-976-19689221 May 2018
The problem with this series is the annoying repeated statements and lack of depth in support of their claims. The amount of hearsay and inference that has no support other than the opinions of a interviewees and the experts followed in the episodes. Furthermore, poor editing, along with the constant repeating of previously stated opinions, just makes this whole attempt to uncover the story behind Tesla's time in the states a pointless exercise.

The show just stops at episode 5?!
chadhenley-663126 June 2021
This is a great show and all these comments about anything other than how good it is, are either brainwashed or part of the agenda. The show mysteriously goes off air only at episode 5, half way through. Season 5 ends as it is going to 6, but there's no information as to why they stopped it. They were getting answers and it's pretty obvious the dark powers that be pullled the show off air. Freedom of speech? Freedom of information act? Extreme fishy and unconstitutional this is allowed to happen.

History repeating itself
mw-664341 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nikola Tesla was known to boast his claims, his ideas and new technical inventions by 'stage(d) shows', by fake and superimposed photography stunts in the media, by exaggerating the outcome of experiments, benefits, distances or even financial 'values'.It undermined his credibility and acceptance by serious scientists. Hence he never reached a true state of fame, tarnished his reputation, created the impression and aura of a 'mystic magician'. Same here - history repeating itself: This 'science soap opera' is following exactly the same footprints and methods, claiming more than it can deliver, selling simple physics tricks as 'sensational' discoveries, faking videos and repeatedly showing the same coil sparking (that's all you got, folks?). These engineers can't get ANY of the alleged (and most likely never really achieved) long distance effects to work. They have to replace the incandescent light bulb by a low-voltage LED lamp. The 'wireless' R/C boat is strapped by a cable to a receiver coil on the shore, a few feet away from the Tesla coil. Schoolyard physics games at best. Why search for the allegedly missing 20 trunks of Tesla in Colorado, where he had lived 40 years before all trunks were stored in NYC anyways? Travelling to Belgrade for what reason? Do you guys think that the Tesla museum does not know about the truth by itself? They construct conspiracy theories about the New Yoker hotel and its large power generator. Tesla will NOT have liked this machinery, because it was based on his arch enemy's (Edison's) DIRECT CURRENT (DC) system, useless for any of Nikola's AC studies. Journalistic hog wash. So many inconsistencies, wrong units (energy:power, voltage:current etc.), so much B.S. about trivial physics: YES, you need to stick a nail in the GROUND to close the circuit for wireless transmission of energy from the electromagnetic field by a Tesla coil nearby; surprised? Really?? What kind of scientists are you? This is a 'science soap opera' with no merit, no value, no use. It made a few semi-scientists rich, while contributing nothing but B.S. to the public.

My recommendation: get the audiobook of the Tesla biography, Listen to excerpts from his own diaries, from contemporaries, from media and other scientists. Then you will really understand the tragic life a a genius who had his quirks and inner demons all trough his lifetime. Who had great visions, but surprisingly many wrong theories and little understanding of the truth, about Maxwell's field theories, matter, energy, speed of light limitations to name a few.

Cheap show
tbahri-380-57282429 October 2019
I thought this would be a great show. The idea is good and attractive but the execution is just horrible. So cheap, the show is not targeted towards people interested in science but to convince commoners that there is a conspiracy somewhere. I won't be surprised if there was a conspiracy indeed, but I doubt that this show's presenters would be able to reveal it. The presenters look so dull, so less educated and smart than what the show is trying to convince us. And the show itself keeps repeating specific phrases and statements over and over again to hypnotize the audience into believing the conspiracy theory without providing any real facts. So poor, so cheap, Tesla deserves a better show delivered by real researchers and scientists.

Felt more like Ghosthunters...
swedal24 May 2019
I am very interested in all things Tesla and the mystery of his life. However, this felt more like a "Ghosthunter" episode. A lot of talk but no real facts revealed. The only thing I learned (if I believe these idiots) is that Tesla said he had 80 trunks and FBI claimed 30 trunks. Obviously the government (and others) interfered and discredited the scientific discoveries made by Tesla. But this show doesn't solve any of these mysteries... at all.

This show was completely pointless. Just google Tesla and you'll find more facts.

Mixture of decent information with conspiracy adventurism
drrossba5 July 2019
Tesla was "little known by mainstream scientists" .... That must be why the International unit of magnetism is the Tesla, and he is generally acknowledged to be the father of modern electrical distribution. A decent investigative work contributing to Tesla's impressive legacy that would have been more enjoyable if the participants had been a bit more dispassionate and didn't try to drag viewers to the conclusions they favor. Good investigation doesn't have to reveal earth shattering results... it simply makes them apparent.

Adding absolutely nothing new to the Tesla story and so ridiculously generic and poorly made, the History channel seem to spew out this repetitive and tiresome content with ease. Dumbed down TV for a dumbed down population.

A mashup of conspiracy theories
dc_dukeever17 August 2020
This show is not fit to be shown on a network called HISTORY channel. When a show indroduces the notion that Tesla was send to earth by aliens to help the progress of human civilisation then you can be sure logic and science are out of the window. It's entertaining thought if you are into urban legends and conspiracy theories. Gotta love how they flat out claim the Manhattan project (teleportation) happened.
