I recently saw this on a plane, and the bowl cut moment was absolutely hilarious and real in many ways. It's a shame PEN15 only lasted three seasons but I guess it's one to cherish.

Considering how Pilot episodes usually don't live up to the rest of the show, I was really surprised to see how hilarious this episode was... A job well done.
The plot around this episode is wrathful yet hilarious, and surely does give you the laugh that you're looking for. Maya being called "UGIS" was sad but yet amazingly funny... Something that very few shows are yet to capture these days.
Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle do an amazing at portraying the 7th Grade leads despite their age difference is surprisingly great...
I never give episodes a 10-star rating but this certainly reached the limit.
Overall, great pilot. Can't wait to see what's next to come.
