Ed Wood would have been embarassed by this "movie"
Brendan318 May 2018
While this film has the look and feel of something that might have been slapped together by a couple of kids with a camcorder, playing war in their backyard.... that comparison might actually be an insult to a couple of kids with a camcorder, playing war in their backyard.

The writer could not write a coherent script. The actors can not act and they stumble through their poorly written lines. The film maker's complete lack of understanding how to make a film is only matched by his complete lack of knowledge about World War Two.

This no budget production of a World War Two film that looks more like four guys pretending to be soldiers in someone's backyard actually lacks the production values that most no budget films have. There is zero effort put into any attempt to make this look like it is the 1940's. Not a single character or extra is wearing anything that remotely resembles an actual WW2 uniform. Weapons, uniforms, and other props are all also from different eras. As an example, the main character, "sarge," wears a purple t-shirt, green sweat pants, a belt of machine-gun ammo (even though they have no machine-gun) under his jacket so it can't be accessed, and a toy plastic helmet on his head. The field radio prop they use is a 1970's transistor radio with a corded telephone handset taped to it.

When not using lame flame filter effects on the screen to try to simulate combat, in true Ed Wood fashion, the film constantly cuts to various pieces of stock footage of combat, reenactments, or training to try (unsuccessfully) to create the illusion that the characters are interacting with what is happening in the stock footage. As bad as their attempt to blend stock footage into the action is, it is made worse by the fact that much of the stock footage has nothing to do with World War Two. They use footage from World War One reenactments and even use modern combat and training footage.

This is less of a review than it is a warning.... stay away.

Amateur war effort

Warning: Spoilers
WAR RAIDERS: FINAL COUNTDOWN is a WW2 action movie shot on an indie budget, so it's as bad as you'd expect. A quartet of American soldiers head into occupied territory in order to retrieve some secret Nazi codes. The whole thing looks like it was shot on a paintball site out in the woods somewhere. There's little decent story, no action, and no discernable acting talent; a dud, in other words.

Funny for the first 3 minutes
london-3710614 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It opens with a guy in a "uniform" (everyone's dressed completely randomly) that looks like it came from a fancy dress store, shouting "nazi scum" and "I'm gonna kill more Krauts" and goes downhill from there.

A lot of the props are toys and the helmets look like upturned flowerpots. The reviewer who gave this 10/10 is probably the directors mother.

Watch the first few minutes for a laugh but move on quickly!

johnnamisnak-120309 June 2018
Shockingly bad I lasted three minutes in this movie with the uniforms are brand new the guns don't even sound right when they're shooting the 3-D graphics in the movie are laughable the acting is laughable and the script is laughable! I think kids probably in the drama class could've done this 10 times better sorry I couldn't last past three minutes!

Writing a review of his own movie ?
After reading the above review by ntvandegrift, I'm convinced that it is in fact Mark Polonia writing his own review. Nice try Mark.

WTF
talltallman200228 April 2020
I had to give it one star, because I can't give a zero. I was waiting for Elmer Fudd to the enter the movie and say, "Be very, very quiet, I'm hunting Nazis."

An embarrassment
olaf-meys30 October 2018
If you gave me a quarter the budget, I could make a better movie. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted and forced, the writers have no clue about history or military knowledge, and have cheaply inserted video from any old war footage they could find (even some from sixty years after the war they're portraying). A little basic research would have gone loooooong way!

Make some noise for Noyes!
DukeLarsonNeverDies19 December 2019
This is the best WWII film I've seen since Saving Private Ryan and maybe even the best I've ever seen! The movie really has grit. Noyes Lawton (Sarge) really takes the reigns as the alpha dog in this film. The cigar scene and the German prison scene were both classic examples of that Eastwoodesque screen power.

A classic war movie with a man on a mission plot. The movie is historically accurate. Everything from the plot to the costumes to the firearms is right on the money. The editing of the films combat scenes is seemless and at times feels like what you are watching is an actual horrific war scene. I plan to make this a must watch every year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. So if you want to watch Noyce (Lawton) make some noise on the Nazi's this is a must watch!

One more thing. No Kirkendall and no Carolous. Makes it even more of a must see!

Great help
This movie helped me to decide to put a shotgun in my mouth and blow my brains out when I'm finished typing. I shot up 8 times just to make it through the agony of watching this. I'd rather have Mandingo put it in my Bum than to see this again. :(

Filmed on Billy Bob's farm with his relatives?
r-garton-91313 December 2018
Sadly, I echo the rest of the reviews here. As a film producer and director myself, this film while the storyline was at least decent, the rest of the film looks like Jr. High students got together for a weekend film shoot and edited it on free smart phone software. No color correction, various audio sync issues, terrible effects, an obvious plastic remote control tank, should I go on? How this got into distribution is amazing. The film's title marketing poster is sooo misleading. At the very least, a military advisor and time spent on authentic era WW2 wardrobe should of been done. Re-enactors love this stuff and would of helped to save some of this. Good films can be made on low or no budget including digital effects if you know what your doing and have an experienced crew and talent who will work for little or no pay and believe in your film. I have done it myself. Sadly, I don't think anyone on this film did. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry watching this. I really feel sorry for the entire crew and talent. The script had potential but as soon as the word action was said, this picture was doomed.

My wife is sadistic.
quartermile505 January 2021
We saw the reviews. We laughed. Wife was insistent to watch it. Now I have to decide if I should murder her or not.

The most thrilling part of this movie is the moment vomit reaches the top of your throat and you have only seconds to choose between getting to the bathroom in time and uninstalling Tubi for allowing this steaming pile of zero f#k$ to be shown on their channel.

There is literally nothing good or accurate about any aspect of this movie. It's not even cultishly bad. It's just terrible on every.single.level. Random clothing. Commander is overweight with a goatie. "Sarge" is wearing pajamas with a machine gun ammo belt but no machine gun. Countless times they pretend to fire machine guns but fake recoild like it's a single fire. That "special effects" bomb fire? Are you serious? At one point I swear they even have an "american soldier" in a ditch right beside a nazi and they are both shooting at the nazis together. These clowns need to be permanently banned from making another publicly released movie.

I've had less than a year's worth of Adobe Premiere experience and I could have done better than this on my first day of learning.

I would expel high school students for making a movie that was even 50% better than this.

This film makes indie filmmakers look bad.

Might be the worst indie film ever. One star is generous! There is not a single thing I can complement them on.

War Raiders (2018) Will Change War Movies Forever
ntvandegrift24 May 2018
Let me start off this review with the camera work; it is phenomenal. The film has a great ratio of still shots and action-packed moving scenes. Mark Polonia did an astounding job of articulating shots to make each scene a master piece. A lot of people give this film hate for the low budget and stock footage, but what can you expect? Of course this film isn't filled head to toe with era accurate costumes and props. With the budget this crew had, they did a great job. War Raiders (2018) is a great start to Mark Polonia's career and I cannot wait to see more from him. Not only is the camera work almost perfect but so is the story line. It is like Polonia studied human interactions because the dialogue between characters flows so easily, it would make you believe that what you're watching is truly happening.

Good Independent Movie
WrestleFan082 September 2018
I'm not generally a fan of war films, but I enjoyed this independent movie. The Man on a Mission story was interesting, the actors played their parts well, and it easily kept my attention throughout. And while it may not rival a huge Hollywood blockbuster in many respects, overall the filmmakers worked well with the resources they had, which made the battle scenes compelling enough. For these reasons I would recommend War Raiders.
