Doesn't get any better
vengeance2015 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So with the 4th installment of this weak franchise comes a 5th. Robert once again wreaks more havoc in this sequel/prequel.

The films story line is set in Soviet Russia at the peak of the Cold War in 1951. An group of agents come across the Toymaker & his dolls & discover that his spell book can bring those who are dead back to life again. They embark on a flight by kidnapping the Toymaker, but know little of what's followed them on board.

The film story-line in this one was straight forward. Which is alright. But the effects, sound & visual like sucked. The logic in the film alone was laughable. The doll with the obvious fake toy guns was firing aimlessly at a crowd in the creepy show, but was able to kill 2 agents later on? There was red plastic caps on the ends of those guns with flashing lights in for crying out loud!

The film overall wasn't great. 2/10

Its absurd that people pay to produce these movies.

Watching this makes you really wonder what youre doing with your life when people can just write down absolutely anything and receive budget for a film.

Robert the Doll versus the Russians
TheLittleSongbird24 September 2019
Will confess right now in not being a fan at all of any of the other Robert the Doll films, no matter the big effort made to try to moderately like them. Still kept watching them because there is always something semi-intriguing about killer dolls and it was sort of for completest sake as well. And it is hard not to be drawn in to films that have ridiculous premises, but have a little potential to be halfway entertaining and creepy if any degree of effort was put into them.

Seeing 'Robert Reborn', again out of curiosity and because the premise did sound interesting (but it was clear from even reading the summary that there was going to be a lot of ridiculousness), it is the best of the Robert the Doll films. Or at least the least bad, with there being a little more effort being put into it than the previous films in the series. There is still a lot wrong with 'Robert Reborn' and in my view it is in no way a good, let alone great, film, even when trying to take it for what it was meant to be.

'Robert Reborn' is the marginally best-looking of the Robert the Doll films. Appreciated that the Toymaker's look was toned down and that he didn't look as goofy this time while the dolls look quite good by the series' standards.

Of the three, the best was Miss Cyclops who did generate some creepiness. There is some spookiness in the music.

Didn't find Robert himself to impress particularly much in 'Robert Reborn'. He is better used than in 'Revenge of Robert the Doll', where the Toymaker was more the main character and Robert was underused and not scary enough support, as he feels more of a lead. What he does is very more of the same however, but it also continues to feel stale. The sound is often too obvious, while the dialogue lacks wit, even trying not to take it seriously. The acting at worst is embarrassing (Lee Bane though does give his best performances of the series though), calling the accents suspect is being kind.

There are nowhere near enough scares (what there are are far from creative and come over as tired and stupid above all else), the suspense is non-existent and the humour could have featured much less or down-played (didn't find any of it particularly amusing). The story is very thin, though it is far less aimless than the previous films, and has no surprises or thrills, it feels very tired and the stupidity goes overboard fast to truly grating effect. While the dolls look quite good and the Toymaker's look is much improved, 'Robert Reborn' still looks cheap and like all the effort went into Robert and the other dolls.

In summation, the best of the films but weak. 3/10

Direct to Video Garbage
arfdawg-112 August 2019
There is nothing to recommend about this movie. The budget had to be 3 pence. The writing is dismal, there is no acting o speak f and the directing is 3rd grade.

The Robert Doll is the wirst doll you will EVER see. It looks like it was made by a 5th grader.

If ever there was a case for a Robert abortion, this is it.

This is like the Leprechaun franchise
geraldinedavies5 July 2019
Looking at the way they seem determined to stick Robert the Doll into increasingly silly scenarios this series is starting to feel like the equally dumb Leprechaun franchise. It would be funny if they made Robert in Da Hood.

Climb aboard for the fifth Robert excursion ...
parry_na20 July 2019
Andrew Jones' prolific North Bank Entertainment dishes out another in the successful series featuring Robert the Doll. As with the previous couple of instalments his fictional creator, The Toymaker, has become a central character. It isn't a great decision: Lee Bane is a mainstay of Jones' productions and often turns in fine performances, but once again, he is buried under 'old man' make-up from which no-one could make much of an impression. The Toymaker's look has been toned down, admittedly, but the character remains visually unimpressive and often absurd. Knowingly though, there is a thin line of dark humour present that invites the audience not to take things too seriously.

This is very much part of a series: there is little effort to explain any previous plot developments in the hope of converting those unfamiliar with Robert's back-story. Events occur, but very little story seems to take place for a long while. Robert himself makes fleeting head-and-shoulders appearances (as do his friends, Cyclops and Kalashnikov), and any venue, whether it be theatre of public house, is noticeably free of people.

'Robert Reborn' is the fifth in the film series, and it appears to be the concluding chapter in what has become the prequel trilogy (this is set in 1951). I'm not massively sorry about this. Robert's origins could have made quite a pacey and entertaining story, but three films is stretching the idea beyond breaking point. And yet, this opened at #1 in HMV's DVD Premier Chart, so it appears others are more enamoured of the little fellow's beginnings than me.

I still think there's mileage in the story. Images of a toy-room festooned with sightless, grinning mannequins will never not be creepy, and Jones' productions have always bounced back despite occasionally uninspiring decisions.

'Robert Reborn' isn't a bad film (the scenes aboard a plane heading for Moscow), but it exposes many weaknesses of a low-budget production without bringing anything particularly inspiring to the table this time around. My score is 5 out of 10.

Garbage!!!
nigel_cummings3 July 2019
One and a hal hour hours of my life I can never reclaim back! Played for laughs on a virtually non existent budget by terrible actors who's acting abilities stretch the whole range from a to b. Looks like it was filmed in somebodies' box room. So cheap it hurts, sound is awful, acting is awful, accents are an insult to the country this rubbish is supposed to be set in and the comedy and horror are non existent, this file of refuse 'steams' Like a bucket of compost. If it was available in aromavision, the smell would make you puke! Dysentery would be preferable to watching this!

Robert 5 follows where toymaker left off set 10yrs later
pennywise-516675 July 2019
First off ignore the idiot above comparing leprechaun to Robert. Leprechaun went to Vegas space and then the hood while as Robert follows a more consistent path fighting Germans Nazis and what not. Both franchises deal with the same Mystic or fictitious type storyline and perhaps that's what the idiot above meant. Well I appreciate it from the Robert franchise is that it is somewhat consistent with dealing with the same type of enemy just Ten Years Later versus Robert and the toymaker you will find the same style used for Robert rods and puppeteering with no CGI involved but that's been the Robert franchise since Robert one and not to ruin it for anybody but it did say on here that it's the toy makers last appearance if that's the case he was simply written off after this show if you enjoyed the last few Roberts you enjoy this one it's handled pretty much the same way which I appreciate that continuity I like many other franchises the only slight comparison would be to the Chucky franchise not counting the Remake recently done in 2019 as Don Mancini overseen all those up until the remake but even with those Robert stays consistent with flow Style and storyline if you enjoyed the last few Roberts then there's no reason why you won't enjoy this one yes it has it's low budget quality that shows at times but if you're a fan of low-budget Puppet Master like quality then there's no reason you won't like Robert Reborn

Goes for the humour rather than the horror
jessicachartain2 July 2019
Another entry in the Robert series and much like the later films in the Chucky series the emphasis is now on trying to make the audience laugh rather than scream. While it could have done with more serious horror I give the filmmakers props for being self aware about how silly their story is. This time Robert is joined by two new dolls who are very Puppet Master in their design and they end up on a plane with what I presume are KGB agents although its never really said. The addition of a doll who has machine guns for arms is the best aspect of the film but overall they should have spent more time on the plane where the most interesting action takes place.

He is not the hero anymore.
nogodnomasters4 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film follows the Nazi birth of Robert. It is 1951 Russia and Stalin doesn't have long to live. They see the doll maker as being able to give Stalin life. The doll maker seems less than interested.

The acting and accents were horrible. The make-up was comical as were the doll herky-jerky movements. Not worth watching. BTW there were no passenger jetliners operating in 1951.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

So Bad It's Kind Of Good
Pairic7 April 2022
Robert Reborn: KGB officer Stoichkov kidnaps a toymaker, who owns a mystical book, to find a way to heal Stalin. However, things take a turn when the toymaker's dolls set out to rescue him. This is part of a killer doll franchise and is so bad it's good. Terrible special effects, unconvincing dolls. Anachronisms abound, though set in 1951 a modern jet is used but when the toymaker defects to Britain the jet is intercepted by World War Two RAF planes, London has a present day skyline. Acting is terrible. Surely this is deliberate? Written and Directed by Andrew Jones. On Netflix. I'm giving it 4/10 for laughs.

Pitiful
Leofwine_draca2 June 2022
Another pitiful instalment in this hopeless series, this time transferring the bad guys from Nazis to Russians. It's hard to say what's worse, the calibre of the SFX or the annoying guy playing the toymaker dressed up as Jim Carrey in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. Once again we're in PUPPET MASTER rip-off territory here, as if those films weren't bad enough...

Worst acting I've seen in a long time
erik-29-3816267 October 2022
You know how you've seen good writing and bad acting or bad writing but good acting and it somehow makes a B-movie decent to watch?

This doesn't have that.

At all.

I find it puzzling that they seem to go our of their way to find people who can't act AT ALL.

Either that or they over-act on purpose because they know it's a crappy movie and it fits the budget of $ 300? (including lunch)

Either way I couldn't get past 20 minutes of poorly written dialgoue made even worse by bad acting.

I've seen cool characters in horrible movies and it made the movie okay. Who writes this stuff? And are the "actors" just volunteers who know the writer?

Second Coming/World War dolls
kosmasp12 April 2022
I have to admit, I thought this was going into another dolls territory/universe. But apparently there are no connections - even if new additions in the ... doll department are being made.

The movie is tongue in cheek and there are many bad people and quite a few deaths. Not too explicit, though the effects overall are still quite decent (if you are into the horror stuff and do not mind a bit of blood and violence in movies). This is nothing special, but it is "better" than what I remember of the first Robert movie, which was not good at all.

Jacquavius Jackhammer Reviews: Robert Reborn
samjolley18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
EVIL NEVER DIES!!

WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN WITH THIS; THERE IS SIMPLY SO MUCH TO COVER. ROBERT AND HIS PALS CAN EVIDENTLY NOT REST WITHOUT BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS. THE INTRODUCTION OF KALASHNIKOV TO THE SERIES WAS A WELCOME ADDITION TO THE CREW FOR DIE HARD ROBERT FANS SUCH AS MYSELF (WHO HAVE READ ALL THE COMICS) HE IS SO COOL!! HE LITERALLY HAS GUNS FOR HANDS. WHEN I GROW UP I HOPE FOR GUNS FOR HANDS ALSO.

KULUSHNICKOF REALLY RENEWED MY BEAUTIFUL 14 YEAR OLD BOY (HE IS SUCH A TEENAGER UGH) DATHAN'S LOVE FOR THE ROBERTVERSE (RCU). FOR THE FIRST TIME WE SAT TO GETHER AS A FAMILY (DATHAN, AVERY, MYSELF AND MY DARLING WIFE OF 38 YEARS (MUHAMMAD)) TO ENJOY SOME QUALITY CINEMA.

YOU THOUGHT THAT THE NAZIS WANTED AMOS??? WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT THE RUSSIANS WILL DO TO GET THEIR GRUBBY COMMUNIST MITTS ON THAT BOOK.

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE PART WAS THE ENDING. IT REALLY SET THE SCENE FOR ROBERT 6 (I WAKE UP EVERY MORNING AND THE FIRST THING I DO IS CHECK EVERY AVAILABLE NEWS OUTLET FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE UPCOMING FILM) AND I WILL CERTAINLY BE GOING TO SEE IT WHENCE IT COMETH TO THE BIG SCREEN. THIS WOULD SURELY BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST BOX OFFICE HITS OF ALL TIME, SURPASSING SUCH INCONSEQUENTIAL AND TEDIOUS MEDIA SUCH AS BLACK PANDA: UGANDA FOREVER AND THE NEW AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER FILM (I DESPISE THE BLUE PEOPLE >:()!?

HOWEVER, ALL GOOD GOOD MUST COME WITH THE BAD. I MUST DEDICATE A PARAGRAPH OF MY REVIEW TO SPEAK ABOUT THE OMISSION OF HOLLYWOOD'S BIGGEST STUD (THANK YOU DATHAN) FUCHS. HE SURELY ONLY MISSED OUT ON BEING CAST BECAUSE DEREK NELSON (FUCHS'S ACTOR) HAD TOO HIGH OF A SALARY DEMAND. BUT, HIS ADDITION TO THIS FILM WOULD SURELY HAVE CREATED THE BEST FILM EVER TO BE CONCEIVED BY THE COLLECTIVE HUMAN MIND, AND, IN FACT, IT IS PROBABLY A GOOD THING HE WAS LEFT OUT: OTHER FILMS NEED TO ALSO MAKE MONEY AFTER ALL (LOL) (ALTHOUGH A CGI FUCHS WOULDNT HAVE GONE AMISS). WATCH OUT DWAYNE "THE STONE" JOHNSON - DEREK NELSON IS COMING FOR YOU (LOCK YOUR WINDOWS).

ALL IN ALL, ROBERT REBORN (2019) IS A COMPELLING WATCH FOR ALL CASUAL AND MORE SERIOUS FANS OF THE ROBERT FRANCHISE, AS VERY LITTLE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ROBERTVERSE IS REQUIRED. IT TRULY WARMS THE HEART, AND BRINGS THE ENTIRE FAMILY (MY HUSBAND MOHAMMED) TOGETHER, BRINGING HOPE AND JOY TO THE WORLD, AKIN TO THAT OF SANTA CLAUS, OR THE PRINGLES MAN.

9/10 OVERALL, SIMPLY DUE TO LACK OF FUCHS

UNTIL NEXT TIME, MUHAMMAD AND JAQUAVIUS JACKHAMMER & FAMILY (JACKSONVILLE RESIDENTS)

#ROBERT SWEEP.

Weird but kinda fun
tonyturner-823844 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Robert movies continue to head deep into Puppet Master territory with this one although the Russian setting is new and something they haven't done in the Charles Band franchise. If you like your doll flicks served with creepiness and jump scares you're better off with Annabelle as the horror here is pretty minimal. But the laughs are plenty with pitch black comedy throughout and the Toymaker character acting even more over the top in this one than in any of the other movies. There's a pretty full quota of utter bizarreness, a Russian officer being resurrected from the dead with his eyeball dangling and the killer dolls performing in a theatre show hit about an eleven on the weirdness scale. But overall a fun time if you dig movies like Leprechaun and Puppet Master.

I expected more murde!
icocleric16 March 2022
I've not seen any other of the Robert the Doll films, but honestly I feel I've not missed anything. The plot is extremely simple.

It was a terrible film, but one of those so bad it was entertaining at least. The accents were so awful, like next level awful. And there were so many plot holes and inaccuracies. Like I hope they aimed to make it this bad.

When I first sat down to watch this, I was expecting an "Annsbelle" kind of thing. No, it was very puppet like dolls and puppet type movement, but they murder people. With the description I expected more murder.

me speaking to the writer director -
liamdg9 April 2022
"Dude, did you not see the Puppet Master films? Cos this is just one the Puppet Master films you've made here." Apparently that's not enough characters for a full review. So...yeah, it's not good but this guy is making movies in Wales that sell well allover the world so, fair play to him. Even he did so by completely ripping off the Puppet Master films.

[0.6] Robert Reborn-ed just to kill my mood to watch films
jimmyishere-3774823 June 2022
It is one of the worst if not the worst, horror movies I've ever watched in my entire life. I can assure you that I lost 90 precious minutes of my life watching this film.

Production [0.0] Plot [0.0] Acting [2.0] Graphic Effects [0.5]

Save your time guys. Do not watch this mockery of the filming industry...
