A Classic Rural Acting Class
OnjiMooteDaMarle24 January 2019
Sanya & Radhika have taken this film to another level. The idea for the story was great and could have been a brilliant short film story too. But the screenplay was above average. Not bad nor great. But am very happy that here is a film with a good story line but no male leads. It's driven by 2 female characters and the fact that the film is not about rape victim, daughter fighting to prove what she is to her parents/ husband, a lonely woman in a man's world etc,. This is full on woman vs woman, sister vs sister, great acting vs great acting. Kudos to both the actresses but Vijay Raaz doesn't vanish in between these two girls. He performs what he does best. Sunil Grover is as usual anywhere. Happy that Vishal is still Vishal.

A film worthy of watching again.

Sibling rivalry; an unresolved issue
ridi-arahan12 May 2020
Besides the conventional storytelling, what works in the closing section of the movie is the way how the tales of two sisters remained compelling connected even after all the melodrama and the decisions of staying far from each other. Conversion disorder is present when we don't want to face the realities around us so we unconsciously decide to stop sensing and perceiving some realities. It's refreshing to get a touch of conversion disorder in the story, of course rarely used in the cinema. I would recommend watching the movie, it's mostly fun and touch of humor.

A must watch for cinema lovers.
Azanspy17 December 2018
I said this is a must watch for real cinema lovers because of brilliantly they have done it. It is one of the best film of the year technical and performance wise. The screenplay falls short overall. The film starts off very well and continues it's pace till interval. After interval, film tries to continues it's pace but it falls short. Vishal Bhardwaj did an excellent job and proves he's one of the best director in Bollywood right now. All the cast did an excellent job. Overall, Pataakha is worth watching. It won't disappoint you.

Not much story. But such a ton of everything else
adityakripalani3 October 2018
There isn't one clear premise. But, this fable, parable will keep you engaged throughout in general. The performances by Sunil Grover, Radhika Madan and Sanya Malhotra are absolutely fantastic. Radhika Madan is such a find. And Sanya matches her step for step in likeability, performance, pitch, tone. Beautiful. Sunil is the male find of the year. What a magnetic artist. The background music was also lovely. The recurring motifs help keep the film afloat despite the lack of a clear premise.

The one love song was gorgeous as usual.

Silly Movie.. But the acting makes it worth watching.
akhil02727 October 2019
It says the story of two sisters who fights all the time, a father who tries to keep it together, a poisonous friend who makes them fight. The story is predictable but the scripting, direction and acting makes the movie worth your time. Do not expect a great movie. But if you've got free time, then go for it. Everything was going fine until the second half. Then the movie got silly. One time watchable.

Less movie more Life
Just watched it as nothing else was available. But as the movie goes on, it rides on me. Felt like all are happening in front of me in real rather than a movie.

Acting were awesome by all characters. A Must watch.

Amazing movie..

The movie is different in its own way. The best part of the movie is acting. Hard to name even a single character who didn't live upto the role, and of course, the two sisters were amazing! Vijay Raaz as usual was outstanding.. Overall a great entertainer movie..

Sibling Rivalry with fun.!!
Tejas_Vinda_AITS28 September 2018
Pataakha is the story of sisters who love to hate each other.

This isn't your average sibling rivalry; this is passionate and spiteful hatred for your kin.

The sisters literally want to strangle and choke the life out of each other. This strange sibling relationship forms the crux of Vishal Bhardwaj's film, where the Rajasthani language and the rustic setting present a side of Rajasthan that you haven't seen before.

Vishal Bhardwaj, as he always does with his films, has tried to put many quirky spins into this comedy.

The music is rustic, but very pleasing. He has also provided an interesting background score. During the second half, as the film briefly explores a psychological reason for the sisters' tendency to fight, the sci-fi sounding background music adds a delightful touch to the proceedings. But for all its wonderful and creative touches,

Pataakha still feels like a story that stretches a short concept, for a little too long.

Baap khani ki....
khatrirahul-593612 October 2018
The movie about the two sisters champa and. Ganda (marry gold) is a movie about there rivalry yfrom childhood to adulthood. It takes time to catch the accent but the movie is a thorough delight to watch... The story is simple and its like you see through it from the beginning but the dialogue writing is on the point.. The acting is top notch from every cast member..

But like every other movie now a days.. Its a one time definitely theater watch...

If you've seen the trailer, you've seen most of it
tanjotasu28 September 2018
They fight. They are feisty. They hate each other. Their father is a poor bloke who loves them but keeps them from fighting each other. They are two passionate sisters who are very cool. Film promises to pack a punch.

The actors do an amazing job, but the movie doesn't pack any real punches. The story revolves around stupid "plots" without ever getting into the emotional meat that it needed to. This movie had the potential to uncover some serious family scars - but doesn't.

Pataakha: A Freudian Feud
priyodit30 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
TL;DR: Go and watch it in theaters- it's worth watching at least twice.

We know what happens in symbiosis- two organisms live together because the both benefit from each other, for example, hermit crab. We also know what happens in case of rivalry- only one of the organisms survives, other has to either go away or wither. Much of it happens in real world, to people too.

Acidophiles are a group of organisms which thrive in acidic environments. Similarly, some people too enjoy the bitterness of their world. Pataakha is a story of two feuding sisters, who can not stay away from each other, meeting only to fight. It's not a verbal duel, but one which involves throwing each other into cow dung, pulling out their hair, and fighting literally tooth and nail.

The women loved creating ruckus subconsciously to the extreme, that each other's absence would render one mute and other deaf, in a Freudian way.

We thrive in the environment for which we are built. The goodness of environment doesn't necessarily mean its suitability for the dwellers. The owls wait for the night, and so does the night love their hoots. One without the other is too silent, too dark.

Second half ruined the whole movie.
ajinkyapatiljan19 July 2020
Good things first, the acting was great and accent was on point. Locations were great. No cringey jokes. First half of the movie was great but second half felt like it was not even in the script and they just kept on going. The movie could have been shorter. Ending was stupid and there was so much potential in the second half of the movie which was left untouched.

Time pass movie

It is a decent 1 time watch. Could have been shorter, at times the screenplay felt stretched. Decent acting, nothing which lingers with you after the movie ends.

For Dialogues and performances
jetkot8 April 2020
Shot in real villages and beautiful real locations. The dialogues are brilliant and the acting is phenomenal. They have caught the dialect and both Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan are a treat a watch in their roles. The Supporting cast does an amazing job . This movie is an awesome entertainer. A special note for Sunil Grover. He is such a brilliant comic .Even if he just smiling and posing for a selfie , he makes you laugh hysterically.

Indeed a big Pataakha!
samgh-3479413 February 2019
Wow wow wow wow!!! This was the funniest movie I have watched ever since 3 idiots.. The rarest of movies you can find! Very unique and quite a simple storyline, yet portrayed in the most comical ways possible by the director!! Was craving for more towards the end.. Nevertheless it was a wonderful experience watching this one.. A story of rural India, with no fancy songs or costumes or dialogues, yet it makes u laugh from start till end.. Unfortunately these kinda movie don't get the recognition that they r supposed to get.. The 4 pillars of this movie r Sanya, Radhika, Vijay raaz and Sunil Grover! Top notch acting and comic timing! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Ending was slightly predictable, if not fully. But the little twists towards the end made it more delightful and enjoyable..
