Cute.
missbestworst21 September 2019
Don't really undrstand the low ratings. It's a romcom people, not Wuthering Heights. I thought it was cute, funny and light. Exactly what I was looking for.

I loved it!
AM11323 September 2019
While some concepts of the storytelling is typical, it grabbed me on the not so typical dialogues. I was laughing throughout the movie, until of course, the sad bits. The chemistry between the leads were undeniable, they look great together. I really loved it, it is definitely worth a watch. Love the random but real dialogues.

Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

What a fun little movie with a creative structure. It has a few tired tropes, but what rom-com doesn't? It's a cute, enjoyable comedy about love and weddings, and it doesn't need to be anything more than that.

difficult to watch
lauracreecher27 January 2020
I wanted this to be an easy movie to watch and though it was simple indeed, i found myself cringing 75% of the time. characters and their story lines were wildly underdeveloped. the protagonist was extremely unlikeable and rude and hard to root for. i felt like i was missing major plot points but alas they just didn't exist... good thing it was predictable. not to mention, hasn't this exact movie already come out 8 time since the last year? save yourself and skip this one

love the cast
SnoopyStyle20 December 2019
Mara (Sarah Hyland) is a single gal in L.A. She works in a clothing boutique for Ellie (Anna Camp). Alex is her gay best friend. She goes on a date with Jake (Tyler James Williams) and it goes very well. Her sister Jessica (Jenna Dewan) is getting married despite their parents' disaster marriage. It's the start of an avalanche of wedding invitations for both her and Jake. They have a drinking game to whittle down the list to seven.

I love the cast. I love both of the leads. I want the best for them and they are both extremely likeable TV sitcom actors. The writer writes mostly for TV sitcoms. The director has made a couple of fine rom-coms earlier in his career. The problem is that the comedy doesn't always reach high enough. They need a wacky best friend. As for the central romantic conflict, it's not that well drawn out. Ellie's wedding is one of the funniest part of the movie. Mara's family gathering makes no sense. Her parents would never be in the same room together unless they intend to fight to the death. Jake's religious family comes out of nowhere although the cheese burger is a funny bit. I really want to love this movie but it doesn't have enough.

I love Sarah Hyland and Tyler James Williams but Huh !!!
Aktham_Tashtush25 December 2019
The movie felt a bit quick, cheap, so expected comedy .. It would have probably looked better as a 20 minutes of Everybody Hates Chris and Modern Family Mashup episode ... lol

Anyway,, the story is simple ,, easy to follow and sometimes that is not good at all .. the script supposed to be a Rom-Com and it surprisingly lacked both ,, both lead have seemed to be trying so hard to but apparently the screenplay didn't help... The acting was convincing I gotta give them that, but the story overall was just plain.

Anyway, If you felt like you really have the zeal to watch a rom-com and there's nothing on theater ,, this would make a kinda meh TV movie watch.

Fun to watch
rish200610 December 2019
This is definitely a fun film to watch if you're fond of Rom-Com or else there is nothing much special about this film. Just a sprinkle of romance and humor on a story that is pretty vague.

What was this about?

What a waste of a movie. Hardly anything happens. Even if you are a Sarah Hyland fan this is a bad movie.

A forgettable one
wedgend11 December 2019
I'm not a great fan of romantic comedies, so I sat in expecting nothing. It had some good moments, but overall it failed to be anything more than a cute love story.

The main focus of the movie is about the stage of a relationship, when it begins to become serious. What problems couples encounter when planning their life together? Is love enough to make it work? What if you don't like your partner's family? What if you don't aggree with when do you want to have children and where to raise them?

This is a point where the movie could have been unique, because romantic movies rarely focus on this stage of the relationship instead of the falling in love part. However, it fails to do so big time, because it doesn't care to answer these questions. The moral is simply "forget problems, love will solve everything", which is not a real solution to the main characters' problems, and it is also dealt with in one sentence.

The acting is... okay I guess. Sarah Hyland brings the exact same character as in Modern Family, the others are nothing special. The characters are clichéd (eccentric girl with commitment issues, guy coming from a small town with dreams, shy gay friend, conservative southern parents, etc.). I liked the film's structure with the seven weddings showing the progression of their relationships.

So, to summarize, a typical romantic comedy, which tries to be something more than that, but fails to be. If you like rom-coms, you'll have fun watching it with popcorn and soda, but don't expect anything more.

Bad

I felt like watching a chick movie but this wasn´t a good romantic comedy. You don´t leave feeling uplifted or happy. It drags on at the end. A waste of time.

Light & Fun
katiieashliie16 August 2021
I think a lot of these reviews are very harsh. I went into this movie expecting a light & fun rom com and that is exactly what I got. I think the leads do a great job of highlighting each other. Also if you listen to any review that includes the words "chick movie"...yikes.

Really fun and enjoyable
Gordon-1113 November 2019
This film tells the story of a new couple who goes to seven weddings in a year.

The film is just so sweet and fun! There is just every element in it to make it work. There is a pretty girl, beautiful clothes, upbeat music, dancing, parties, and the obligatory gay best friend. The weddings adds to the main leads' romance, rather than distract, which is quite a feat. I enjoyed watching this very much.

Many weddings and a ...
kosmasp21 June 2022
No this is not ... although? It has been quite a while since I saw Four Weddings and a Funeral. Still even if there are similarities (I really don't recall if you can pin anything to those two movies), the British one wins the competition every single time.

That being said, the movie on hand here is quite fun - and if you let it, it will entertain you. And if you are a fan of Modern Family, you will be a fan of the female main character anyway - well probably and very likely that is. She plays an interesting character - but do not watch this if you think there is something deeper to be found - no pun intended.

It's fine but...
I guess I just expected more from the cast. It's fine but could have been smarter, sweeter, kinder, funnier, etc... Not sure why some of the talent involved didn't speak up and maybe contribute some better ideas. Just fell a bit flat.

Terribly Boring
PalmBeachG2 February 2023
This is a perfect example of why I started watching K-Drama! It is by far so much more romantic, more fun, more humorous, more interesting, better scripting, the whole 9 yards better. This short 1 1/2 hr movie was so boring I found myself daydreaming (not about weddings!) a couple of times as they went through the story of each wedding (the leading lady kept getting wedding invitations in the mail and of course she wasn't married yet). Such a worn out theme to begin with, then of course Netflix has to always have the mixed couple, the gay wedding, etc, - not saying anything wrong with it, but it is so predictable for Netflix. Of course you know what the ending is going to be all along - the whole thing is just boring. I very rarely give a negative review, but just can't help it this time.

Cute movie took a bit to grow on mr
laash-9225422 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was dubious at 1st. I didn't care for the 2 lead characters - didn't think they had chemistry. But I carried on and the movie grew on me. It's a sweet romance and I found myself rooting for them. But of course the plot was predictable and had a happy ending, but sometimes that's all you want in a movie.

I actually found myself hoping for a sequel. I think their marriage and inevitable children would be another easy and fun movie to watch.

If you are looking for a profound love story....keep looking, this isn't it. If you want to smile and reminisce a little for less than 2 hours..this will fit the bill.

A decent take on the genre.
jlewis-9951414 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yes it's a rom-com. Yes you know how it starts, plays out and ends. So what? I think the way the journey is played out is fun. The way they crash the weddings while not hilarious, did make me chuckle. It's not an academy award winning movie, but if you have time it's not a bad time.

Ok I really love Sarah Hyland but this film is very bad and weak, the common romnatic comedy, nothing new, a performance that miss Hyland knows to performance by heart, hope she be in better soon projects

I was looking for an easy going romance chic flick and I was happily surprised by this one! It was cute and I love the chemistry between the leads! I think Hyland is a cute actress and she didn't disappoint! Maybe you not typical romantic comedy but I liked that it was different!

It was a well scripted movie
iGlad4 August 2021
I just admit I didn't think this would be that great but it really did make laugh out loud as there were some really funny moments.

Tyler Williams reminds me of Joe Morton and the rapport with Sarah Hyland was pretty good.

It's a lovely feel good feel movie and one I'll recommend.

Who wrote this movie?
solojere16 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Only watch if you can see it for Free!!! Minor spoilers Although you figure out the whole movie in the first 2 minutes.

This movie was a complete waste of time. It didn't motivate me to be a better person. It didn't make me think, laugh or cry. It didn't even entertain me. It just wasted my time. Simply put, there is no substance to this movie move about self-centered jerks. This may come as a surprise to some as this film contains such great lines as "Women can be mean too" "and I only had sex with you because I was sad." There are way too many cringe worthy lines in the film that I can't help but wonder how no one thought this is bad.

The only reason I didn't give this a 1 star is because the scene of Anna Camp getting sick the day of her wedding was actually kind of funny. Sadly this movie waste Anna Camp and a lot of other great stars with a bad scrip an uninteresting leading characters. At least Anna Camp got paid for this movie, which is more then I can say.

Not great but enjoyed it.

Warning: Spoilers
Cheesy romantic movies always have predictable plots. Regardless of the weak script, I loved the cast and Sarah Hyland is a great actress. The scene of her crying in the car near the end felt so real.
