It's OK
jennicramer-2484226 May 2019
I didn't think it was as bad as the 1 and 2 star reviewers. It kept my interest and felt like I was watching a movie on the Lifetime channel. I thought the ending was odd, but overall, it was OK.

It was a little cheesy and felt very lifetime movie channel. But it was watchable and I'm not mad that I watched it. Lol

The ending is not THAT confusing guys... although a little conveluded
Vienna2618 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Im not too sure why so many people were confused by the ending. It made sense to me although obviously far fetched. The sisters had planned it all along. Camilla went out driving that night with greta to run away from her crazy overprotective family (the dad and his sheriff friends were raised to be overprotective to the point of insanity clearly by their family i assume.. thats why they drug their wives.. so they can maintain full control and keep everyone 'safe' and in line) but when they crashed and greta died.. zelda decided to help camilla instead of just ratting her out to her parents. She helped her fake her death and when Monica found out her sister was still alive she kept her in her house until she could find a replacement for her. The dad promised monica if she found a replacement for camilla then monica would get some kind of freedom to go to the city. So thats what monica did.. she found Ana and the plan was to trap ana with the parents so that camila could take her passport and start a new life somewhere and monica could i guess eventually escape to the city, as she was promised (camilla was the favourite kid so obviously i guess it was harder for her in the house). I didnt expect much coming into this movie. I expected it to be a bad lifetime movie but it kind if surprised me because it kept me watching throughout so thats why i gave it a 5.

Really Netflix
jenniferlynn-4955525 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe I made it through the whole thing. It was really bad. It just didn't make sense. Was Camilla hiding at the sisters the whole time? Was Kevin in on this with Monica? Ok so dad made a deal with Monica for her freedom but was the mom aware or was she just truly nuts? If Zelda actually helped Camilla then why was she so rude the first time she met Ana? Wouldn't she have known what was going down? Why was Camilla ok with kidnapping, when this whole thing was crazy? Lastly, they were supposed to be identical but they weren't. They both had red hair. A more identical look would have been if Tori Spelling was a character.

So bad it's almost good (but not quite)
freya-gravel28 January 2019
One of the worst movies I've ever seen, so terrible it's almost funny at some points. The random jump cuts to musical montages, the still shots for no apparent reason, and the best - when one character says "we should go shopping!", while they're shopping?

The storyline makes next to no sense, the acting is pretty atrocious, and the pacing is astonishingly bad. It's kind of like 'Get Out', expect terrible, and seemingly written by a teenager who watched Get Out and then thought "I could do something like that".

Great movie to watch if you need to kill some time, otherwise, don't bother.

Where does Netflix find this crap?
Zoltanko17 January 2019
First of all they can't even agree on the title of this train wreck. It's hard to know who is to blame for such an inept film as - whatever it is called. I guess we should hold the director responsible. Somehow she managed to cast actors with no acting ability or even personalities. The lead does have great eyes, so perhaps that's what was important. But with a screenplay this contrived I don't think she had much to work with in the first place. Truly horrid.

Trash
Bastette5417 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
(THIS REVIEW CONTAINS A MAJOR SPOILER.)

This movie is trash, no doubt about that. But sometimes I'm in the mood for trash. And I might have given it an extra star or two, but the ending made no sense, at all. Why would they go to all this trouble to capture and imprison a substitute Camilla, when the real one is still alive? And what was Camilla doing in her sister's house at the end? Did she want to be caught and brought back to her crazy family? Stupid.

Get Out Rip Off
cbarnwell-5897319 January 2019
Either Jordan Peele was ripped off by the writers of this movie, or he ripped them off. Even down to the "We're huggers." line. Smells like a lawsuit to me, and I hope Peele wins.

Better than most of the thrillers I've seen this year (but that's not saying much)
diseraph4 May 2019
There's a lot of disparaging remarks about this movie already so I'm the devil's advocate from the get go.

Whilst this movie isnt' going to knock your socks off, I think it brought back some of the things I've missed in thriller movies - a proper ending, no major fantastical plot holes that would have stopped the entire movie from starting, no poor character backgrounds required to explain why the characters are acting suspicious. I think it's biggest drawback is that the very blurb tells you that something is going to happen, so you're sitting back, just waiting for it.

I get the feeling that the creators were going for "lets go for a straightforward thiller thats B rated" and in that way I think they achieved it effectively. If you seriously expecting something more from a blurb that starts wtih "In this indie thriller..." then you were misguided from the start.

Don't get me wrong, there ARE plot holes, there are wierd story twists but compared to so many crappy thrillers being released, the standards have dropped a bit so this one makes the cut in my books.

Is it worth a watch Netflix? Definately. Is it worth watching with a group of friends seriously? Only if you all love the genre. Am I being kind? No, there are a rediculous amount of lazy thriller movies out there now that don't even bother having an ending or hope their cheesy special effects will impress. These creators came with a goal in mind and achieved it.

better than the usual tv thriller
phd_travel19 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A foreign exchange student from Scotland - at least they used a real Scottish actress, feels scared and moves in with a helpful girl and she turns out to have a resemblance to her dead sister. For spring break they return to the small town where the helpful girl comes from and there's some creepiness going on including over protective parents. A Stepford like conspiracy is in the air.

It's better than the usual standard stalker fare. Teri Polo and Dylan Walsh play the parents so the cast is better than average for TV movie thriller.

Worth a watch.

Interesting Storyline
surveyuser22 January 2019
At the end of the movie it seems the producers attempted to get the viewers to want a sequel. Either that, or finally when things were getting good it ended. I thought the main actress did very well with what it is and it did manage to stay captivating. It was far more tame than I thought it would be, but overall the plot kept my interest.

Top 5 worst movies I've seen
beama-5867814 May 2021
Everything about this film is just so badly made that I don't know if I want to laugh or just cry.

The ginger gilr just looked so awkward all the time and the story just doesn't make sense. You can tell they really wanted to make some suspense moments but I just couldn't stop thinking about the dancing montage in the car.

Also I could have told you what was gonna happen in the film after the first 10 mins.

And also, her cell phone? What was that? It was literally made of paper and you could see that, it was always on the same screen even when it was "off"

What were they thinking?
darkmomo-8183128 October 2021
I threw this on and at first thought oh it's like a bad Lifetime movie. Well, I've done those before and sometimes they're good. NO. Lmao. This was SO bad. Lol. The plot was all over the place, it was boring up until 20 minutes left to go, and the whole thing was just a mess. It was truly a waste of two hours lol.

No one is possibly as dumb as this girl. Imagine someone with no instincts at all. This is your main character. As wide eyed and bushy tailed as a babe out of the womb. Reminded me of a Lifetime movie. Storyline turns on an impossibly dumb character.

Honestly don't waste your time
nomi_waters31 May 2019
This movie is good to watch on a really boring day. And I mean last resort, bottom of the barrel, last thing in this world to watch on Netflix type of day. I don't have any words to describe this movie... besides crazy.

I love meravista
austindeleon-5197013 January 2022
But only because they make bad movies. Easily one of the bottom 5 movies I've ever watched. The acting was silly the writing was subpar and the girls looked alike in the fact they were white with ginger hair, and not much else.

Bad girl for writing this review
sian-townsend8 February 2022
Literally so bad, please dont waste your time. The acting is so poor and pathetic its just really cringe. You can predict everything that's going to happen. The only good thing about it was the look of the Scottish girls breakfast when she was locked in her room.

Slow a bit flawed but worth a watch
zack_gideon21 January 2019
I liked the idea, the acting and ending. It's got major flaws but overall I enjoyed it. The plot is very slow but the concept is interesting. It's quite creepy and the 2 lead actors do a great job. Definitely not perfect but if you're in the mood to zone out, pop it on!

Awful
dhickeybs2 May 2022
I don't write reviews but I feel like I should warn everyone else not to waste your time. It was so bad it was almost funny.

If you have any ounce of intelligence you'll be extremely annoyed at how stupid the main character is and all the ridiculous events that transpire in this terrible terrible film.

Actually it's quite good
queen-of-zeba9 March 2019
I don't get the bad reviews. I found the movie to be quite engaging, with good performances from the actors. The ending was a bit weird and didn't completely make sense, but overall I liked it.

Warning: Spoilers
This film was close to being good. But given the entire story was based on the protagonist looking exactly like the 'dead' sister, you'd think they'd make an effort to ensure the two girls looked alike. They just don't. With poor acting and a loose script, Deadly Switch doesn't live up to its promise.

Didn't make sense
Vorhees199627 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, this movie is very predictable. Except for the ending. Speaking of the ending, it made no sense. If Monica's parents think that Camilla is dead...then why hide Camilla? Why get a girl to be Camilla?? She's "dead" so she could've just ran away to another state. Movie would have been better had non-Camilla enacted revenge.
