The movie is divided in two parts, separated by a black screen with CHRONOLOGY in large white letters. In the first part we are told the tale of Hakan, a successful architect whose wife Nihal mysteriously disappears after an apparently unsuccessful fertility treatment. We see things as told to the police by Hakan, with some loose ends and unexplained events that arouse the cops' suspicions.
In the second half we are told the same tale, but this time we know what actually happened, with an unexpected (and poignant) twist at the end. There is some sharp social comment about women becoming uprooted from their milieu and their friends after marriage, isolated and becoming invisible to others and to themselves.
Gimmick or not, the double telling works perfectly and makes for a fascinating, challenging movie that grabs your attention from start to finish, Acting, as well as cinematography are first rate. Music supports the action unobtrusively. Director Ali Aydin paces cleverly his storytelling according the the happenings on screen. Highly recommended.
