While set around the real life November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris, the film tells a fictional story with fictional characters. The project garnered immediate controversy when it started filming just two years after the attacks, with over 50000 people signing a petition calling to abandon the film. As a result, TV channel France 2 chose to indefinitely delay the film's broadcast. When it was shown to victims associations and people who were impacted by the tragedy however, the overall reactions were rather positive and the film eventually premiered a year and a half after filming wrapped.
Upon its initial airing in France, the film was immediately followed by a debate about the November 13 terrorist attacks, moderated by Julian Bugier.
Screenwriter Nicolas Mercier was dissatisfied with the end result and felt the finished film didn't represent the hope, humor and positivity of his script.
