There will be spoilers for the "Star Wars: Tales of the Empire," episode "The Path of Anger," so beware.
In "Star Wars Rebels" we were introduced to a new prototype Tie Fighter that was far superior to the standard Tie Fighter in use by the Imperial fleet. Unlike the common Tie Fighters seen across "Star Wars" media, Tie Defenders had shields and hyperdrives, and they were deadly and far less disposable than the usual fleet. Grand Admiral Thrawn spent time lobbying the Empire to allocate resources to further develop the Tie Defender program and put them in use for battlefield superiority.
Unfortunately, Grand Moff Tarkin and Director Krennic worked to funnel every credit they could into developing the Death Star, putting all of their eggs in one basket. As the crew of the Ghost found out on "Star Wars Rebels", Tie Defenders were some of the most deadly ships the...

Yesterday was May the 4th, better known now as Star Wars Day, and Disney had a treat for us in the release of the latest trailer for The Acolyte. However, it’s worth noting that this is a streaming series and that it’s been quite a long time since we got the last Star Wars film (The Rise of Skywalker) on the big screen. With LucasFilm getting started on The Mandalorian and Grogu for a release in 2026, I thought it would be interesting to poll our readers as to what their favorite Star Wars movie is. While I’m pretty sure it’ll be The Empire Strikes Back, who knows? Maybe some of our younger readers will surprise us.

There will be spoilers for the "Star Wars: Tales of the Empire" episode "The Path of Hate," so beware.
"Star Wars: Tales of the Empire" brings us to many locations across its six episodes, new and old, familiar and alien. One planet in particular, first introduced in "The Mandalorian" during its second season, gets the spotlight in the third episode of this series, "Path of Hate." Corvus was the setting for the 13th chapter of "The Mandalorian", showing us a blackened forest and a city named Calodan under the direct control of a magistrate named Morgan Elsbeth. Since this episode was our first introduction to Elsbeth, we didn't know who she was or how she took control of the planet, only that she was still aligned with the Imperials and had some connection to Grand Admiral Thrawn.

We first met Morgan Elsbeth in The Mandalorian when Din Djarin and Ahsoka Tano encountered the villainous Magistrate on Corvus. The latter's series later established Morgan's role there as part of her attempts to bring Grand Admiral Thrawn back from a neighbouring Galaxy, but who is she really?
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire sets out to answer that question and begins by taking us to Morgan's childhood on Dathomir. Episode 1 returns to the Clone Wars and begins with the planet coming under attack from General Grievous and his droid army.
Morgan's mother is killed and the Nightsisters are wiped out; luckily, the Mountain Clan rescues the teen and offers her a place among them.

There will be spoilers for "Star Wars: Tales of the Empire" Episode 1 "The Path of Fear," so beware.
"Star Wars: Tales of the Empire" (watch the trailer here) is the follow-up to the animated "Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi" shorts from 2022. The initial series followed Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano through formative moments and turning points in their lives. The very first episode takes us back to "The Clone Wars," in the midst of a battle we've seen before on the planet Dathomir. During "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," the Witches of Dathomir played a vital part, as did Dooku's former Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress. But thanks to revelations in "Ahsoka,...

This Star Wars: Tales of the Empire article contains spoilers.
The Clone Wars season five finale, “The Wrong Jedi,” was a turning point for Jedi Knight Barriss Offee. While in 2013 fans of the then-recently-made-non-canon Legends timeline knew Barriss best as a brave and kind Jedi Knight who was a gifted healer, “The Wrong Jedi” revealed Barriss’ darker side. After growing disillusioned with the Jedi’s warring ways during the Clone Wars, Barriss orchestrated a terrorist attack on the Jedi Temple that left several Jedi dead. Although Barriss’ friend, Ahsoka Tano, was blamed for the attack at first, Barriss’ crimes were eventually uncovered and she was excommunicated from the Order, then sent to a Republic prison on Coruscant.
That was the last we heard of this Prequel era Jedi first introduced in Attack of the Clones until this week’s Tales of the Empire, a new series of animated shorts that...

Another year, another May 4th, has come to our galaxy. The unofficial holiday is known as Star Wars Day began in 2011 and quickly caught on as the date, May the fourth, sounded very similar to the phrase “May the Force Be With You.” Since then, fans worldwide have gathered to celebrate their favorite characters and moments from that franchise, and Disney often takes advantage of that.
A 2024 May Fourth video was posted on the official Star Wars YouTube Channel. While the video shows what you would typically expect with clips from the films and shows, interviews with the actors, and fans cosplaying, there is a noticeable absence.
The video, meant to celebrate the franchise as a whole, seemingly ignores the controversial Sequel Trilogy. In the beginning, we see Kylo Ren taking off his helmet for half a second, but there is little to no trace or acknowledgment of those three films.

The fate of the fallen Jedi Barriss Offee (voiced by Meredith Salenger) has been an enduring mystery after "The Clone Wars" season 5 finale, and the green Mirialan's tumultuous history made her ripe for a continued story in the "Star Wars" universe. Disgruntled by the Jedi Order's involvement in the Clone Wars, the then-padawan bombed the Jedi Temple and framed her bestie Ahsoka Tano (voiced by Ashley Eckstein). Said treachery instigated Ahsoka's departure from the Jedi Order, highlighting the spread of disillusionment within the Order.
As the supervising director of "Clone Wars," Dave Filoni nearly killed off Barriss, but then he cut the scene where she commits a suicide bombing in her Republic jail cell. Considering the lengths Filoni went to keep a secret of "Star Wars Rebels" from the crew, a league of Barriss Truthers saw her as...

Giancarlo Esposito stirred excitement recently by expressing his interest in joining the MCU as Professor X, albeit without the wheelchair, citing his age. This sparked debate among fans, with some still hoping for Patrick Stewart’s return despite his character’s apparent demise in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
However, during a panel at Ccxp’s Thunder Stage, Esposito revealed his involvement in a Marvel project but clarified that he won’t be portraying Professor X.
Esposito emphasizes that his upcoming role will arrive sooner rather than later, teasing fans with promises of something “better than you can imagine.” With the current MCU release schedule, only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is slated for this year, leaving speculation open for Esposito’s potential involvement, perhaps as a variant of an existing character or an original creation. However, it’s more probable that his appearance will be in a 2025 release, considering...

Recently Giancarlo Esposito made headlines when he claimed that he would like to appear as Professor X in the MCU, but without the wheelchair, as he isn’t that old. For a long time, Star Wars fans absolutely hated one character in the prequel trilogy and even launched personal attacks against the actor who played him. Jar Jar Binks, the amphibian-like CGI creature, made his first appearance in The Phantom Menace. Played by Ahmed Best, the character and actor faced severe backlash from fans. However, the character is getting more love from modern-day fans, who recognize the crucial role of the character in developing modern CGI characters.

Giancarlo Esposito has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but not as the character he's been campaigning to play over the past few months.
The actor has expressed interest in taking over from Sir Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy as the next big-screen incarnation of Professor Charles Xavier on several occasions, although he wasn't too keen on one particular aspect of the character.
"I've given it a cursory glance in my brain, and immediately I go 'Hmm,'" he said during a recent interview with Fade To Black . Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we take another gander at the wide-open drama races.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’re back to our favorite 2024 Emmys genre: drama! I kid, of course, but there is something still dramatic about this year’s drama categories – even as we (I) wait with bated breath to see which limited series blinks and joins the party in these final days, pre-printed FYC ads be damned. For now, we’re all operating on the idea that “The Crown” is the favorite here, but that feels like it’s operating on more vibes than reality. The final season of the Emmy Award-winning series was certainly better received than its preceding season… but it was a far cry from the sweeping fourth season.

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire releases on May 4, 2024.
The Lucasfilm dive into Dave Filoni‘s most cherished characters has frustrated some fans. Many loved Ahsoka and the relaunch of Clone Wars adjacent shows. However, others have grown weary of over-using these characters, specifically if they do not have prior knowledge. In many ways, Tales of Empire exists because of the hardcore fans who love Clone Wars and Rebels-era characters. However, the expanding universe has paid dividends already, with greenlit shows and movies based on characters Filoni created from scratch, or co-created.
Yet the question about including more Filoni characters has become a hot-button issue in the fandom. Unlike Tales of the Jedi, this series focuses on more obscure figures within the larger Star Wars canon. Without having seen Ahsoka or deep into Clone Wars, you might never have seen these figures. The results have been inconsistent – providing a backstory...

Unlike Tales of the Jedi, this series focuses on more obscure figures within the larger Star Wars canon. Without having seen Ahsoka or deep into Clone Wars, you might never have seen these figures. The results have been inconsistent – providing a backstory...

Known for his work on several Star Wars projects, Dave Filoni has become a key figure in shaping the space opera. Starting with his work on animated projects such as The Clone Wars and Rebels, he has also ventured into live-action projects The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and has since assumed the role of chief creative officer at Lucasfilm.

However, when he initially received a call with an offer to work with Lucasfilm Animation, Filoni’s skepticism nearly caused him to overlook the opportunity, as he refused to believe that Lucasfilm Animation even existed and that the offer was potentially a prank.

There was no mention of it during Lucasfilm's splashy Star Wars Celebration last year, but The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie released theatrically since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker.
Arriving in place of The Mandalorian season 4, the hope is that Din Djarin and The Child can restore the franchise to its former glory on the big screen (with the Rey-led movie next up for Lucasfilm and James Mangold and Dave Filoni's efforts somewhere on the twin-sunned horizon).
We recently learned that The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released on May 22, 2026, and a shooting update has been shared today by Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com).
"I talked to two different cats, both believe that filming is actually going on in May for 'The Mandalorian and Grogu," they explain. "In May there will be filming done. I’m not saying it’s May 1st,...

Years after "The Sopranos" started what we consider the Peak TV era, there came a show that changed network TV forever: "Lost." It's a show that is as controversial as it is influential, one that helped bring serialization to mainstream TV, make the showrunner as recognizable among TV obsessives as the actors on screen, and delivered one of the most controversial endings in history (though it is a perfect send-off for the show).
Much like "Star Wars," it doesn't matter where you fall on the love/hate scale of "Lost," there is one thing all fans can agree on — the score remains consistently stellar throughout.
A big part of why "Lost" is still talked about so many years later is Michael Giacchino's score. There is a reason why Giacchino has played multiple concerts celebrating the music of the show since it ended in 2010, and why hundreds of people from...

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 15, "The Cavalry Has Arrived."
"The Cavalry Has Arrived" is a fitting title for the end of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch," the animated series that was as much a continuation of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" as it was its own distinct show. Revolving around the genetically altered Clone Force 99, as first introduced in "The Clone Wars," "The Bad Batch" spent three seasons offering us a window into the plight of clones in the days and years following the creation of the Empire and how these particular clones were able to carve their niche in the galaxy. One of the key motivators for this group of former Republic special forces is Omega. She's a special clone and vital to the Emperor's plans to clone himself should something happen to him. From writer-showrunner John A. Norris, Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your very first car. The series also includes previously announced stars Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley, Michael Cimino, Melissa Collazo, Uriah Shelton, Drake Rodger, Johnna Dias-Watson, Josh Macqueen and Mia Healey.
Lanter will portray Darren, a wealthy and powerful father of 17-year-old Harris (Macqueen), who, like his dad, is a serious street racer.

The Star Wars franchise is probably one of the most influential and talked about series since its inception by George Lucas back in 1976. With Jon Favreau currently serving as the showrunner of The Mandalorian, there are bound to be differences in opinions.
With the popularity of Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian, several fans debated what exactly makes a person Mandalorian. To clear things up, Favreau had the perfect explanation for why Boba Fett (a popular bounty hunter) is not considered a Mandalorian even though he looks like a Mandalorian.

Sony Pictures is playing a little release date shuffle this Friday evening. Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was originally slated to hit theaters on August 30th, but the film has now been pushed back to a December 13th release. Kraven the Hunter‘s fresh release date was already occupied by the new Karate Kid movie, which has now been bumped to May 30, 2025.
Kraven the Hunter has been delayed several times already, but hopefully, this will be the last move. Coming on the heels of the less-than-impressive debuts of Morbius and Madame Web, this Spider-Man spin-off has a lot to prove, but with an R-rated edge, it could just turn the tide. Director J.C. Chandor has previously described the movie as a tragedy. “Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this. but the story is a tragedy,” Chandor said last summer. “When the final credits roll on this film,...

“There was a long time where we didn’t have anybody to make this movie. We had the budget, we had the script, but we...

While shows like WandaVision and Loki seem to be all anyone can think of when someone says “Marvel TV,” let’s not forget where it all began. Marvel Television was created all the way back in 2010 and the first project that was released through it was Agents of Shield in which actress Ming-Na Wen played the role of Melinda May.
ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
And now, Ming-Na Wen has finally spoken up about the division between the shows created for traditional television and those developed for streaming platforms. The actress believes that her show, Agents of Shield, deserves an accolade or acknowledgment for launching Marvel Studios into the television space.

This post contains spoilers for "Fallout" season 1.
In its first season, Prime Video's adaptation of the hugely popular video game series "Fallout" follows several heroes and villains who are still working to understand what's real in their worlds. Walton Goggins' movie star character, Cooper Howard, slowly comes to realize that America is making up an apocalypse to sell back to itself, while Brotherhood of Steel squire Maximus quickly learns that the powerful men he idolized as a kid aren't all they're cracked up to be. It's Ella Purnell's Vault-dweller Lucy, though, who gets the biggest reality check when she leaves her underground dwelling to explore a ruthless world with no place for the chipper sense of entitlement she was taught to convey.
Given the themes of the series, it's fitting that it's just as hard to tell what's real and what's not behind-the-scenes of "Fallout" as it is in front of the camera.

In the movie Dream Scenario, starring Nicholas Cage, a biology professor named Paul Matthews starts appearing in the nightmares of random people all over the country.
None of these people understand why, nor do they know anything about Paul beyond recognizing his unusual face -- which gives them flashbacks of the terrible dream.
Paul himself is perplexed because he has not intentionally done anything to these people, nor is he a Freddy Krueger-type monster who controls a higher plane of existence.
But when Paul becomes infamous for his cameo appearances in peoples' dreams, he begins to see scorn, fear, hatred, and eventually violence coming from people who hold him personally responsible for their nightmares.
As I finished Dream Scenario, I realized this is what some right-leaning celebrities must feel like.
