Excellent Hour
cw71816 February 2019
Really different type of show. Hits the nail on the head. 2 easy going 20 minute stand up shows in Rays home town. Can't get much better than that. Both excellent little shows.

Funny, relatable, great timing, and most important...no mention of social/political issues!
Hank320 February 2019
I thoroughly enjoyed Everybody Loves Raymond back in the day. I also enjoyed Ray's short stint on Parenthood. Ray brings forth a much needed break from the current social and political climate that seems to dominate many headlines these days. It was great to be able to relate and laugh about family stuff rather than be annoyed by a political agenda. The timing of his set and humor is something you either like or dislike...IMO there's no in between. The walking portion of the special is very well done; it's unique and entertaining. Definitely worth the watch if you're a fan of Ray Romano!

Minus the raunch it's a nine
dstrollin28 December 2023
I always like Ray Romano's easy going observational comedy. Very funny stuff. Maybe it's just me but it seems in those parts he went raunchy he just lost me. Some comedians think that if they go raunch the shock value or something adds to their schtick but I'm not getting it. Not meaning to tell him his business because he knows what he wants to do, and I really like his comedy, but would have been a solid 9 for me if he'd left the raunch out.

One of the best stand up shows on Netflix
jackiemartinkc7 February 2019
I watch a lot of stand up. I laughed at almost every joke. Ray's jokes are about his family. Relateable topics that most families have. His timing is on spot. I loved the entire show. I can't wait to share this show with my Millieneal children. I know they will love it. I hope to see another one in the near future. Thanks Ray. Glad to finally be able to see your stand up. It was a treat.

Right here around the corner...

Warning: Spoilers
Ray Romano returns to his comedic roots doing stand-up at the Comedy Cellar in New York City for this 2019 Netflix special. It's divided into two parts, with Ray doing separate sets, I believe on the same night to a different audience each time. He seemed a little tired in his delivery, bemoaning the fact that he's now over fifty (sixty three actually as I write this), although the insight and maturity gained from growing older gives him the ability to comment on aging and raising a family. A lot of his jokes are aimed at his now adult kids, with a few zingers thrown his wife's way. At times he does delve into risque subjects, but fortunately keeps his dialog relatively obscene free, though you may wince every now and then when he ventures into areas that could make you squeamish. Apparently his entire family which was in attendance didn't seem to mind, as they all joined him following his last set to go out for pizza. The only one who escaped the good natured wrath during his monologue was his one and only daughter, who he affectionately referred to as 'the good one'. Together they looked like the all-American family, every one of which appeared to love Raymond.

Still A Master
genious-354136 February 2019
Ray Romano makes comedy seem just like it's riding a bike. He has such strong material and his timing is still as perfect as ever. It's interesting because, being about the same age, I can relate to the material of getting older and it makes it easier to know what's coming when a guy that is there can make such great jokes out of it. I hope to see more stand-up from him.

And by the way, if you see a review on here of someone griping that 'half the show is him just walking down the street saying hi to people' - ignore that. It's about 6 minutes out of an hour-long show.

Brilliant!

If you like Ray Romano's comedy style, you will love this special. Extremely well written, relatable and smart. It doesn't disappoint, my only gripe with it is that I wish it was longer because it's just so good!

Comedy part is wonderful

Warning: Spoilers
Okay so I've been a fan of Romano since I was about 12 watching ice age and reruns of Raymond and he didn't disappoint here he's a wonderful smart raw comedian that tells it like it is. Very entertaining and hilarious be the part of the show that bugged me was there was at least 10 minutes of background footage in a 55 minute show that initiated me

Surpassed my expectations
cstremler7 February 2019
Stellar Show! My husband and I really laughed a lot during this show! I was curious if Ray Romano would be a funny stand up now. I wasn't a big fan of his sitcom, but I love his more recent acting. This show is excellent! It's really well written and expertly delivered. In contrast, to some of the other reviews, I really liked the parts of the show that weren't on stage. I think it made him seem more authentic and I especially appreciate the reveal at the very end!

TEN STARS for Most of the First Set, Downhill After
poetcomic19 February 2019
How sharp and honed was his first set - he had me from the get-go and the comedy was relaxed, endearing and beautifully paced and delivered and above all FUNNY. The second set fell apart as he fell into the same kind of 'growing old anatomical shtick' I HAVE heard before and will doubtless here again. He had ONE priceless new joke and insight that was delicious. That he had a blow to the testicles 35 years ago and remembers how it hurt and had one recently and it didn't hurt nearly as much because... his testicles don't CARE as much. Full stop. Funny... but no he goes on and on about 'hanging low' and etc. which I have heard done for thirty years before by others. Love him when he is great - he's untouchable.

Did not enjoy it
peachila28 May 2020
I really liked the understated nature of this special. I like the feel of club special vs. big arenas. Romano has a charisma about him as well, he's very likable. However I thought the material was blah. Most of the jokes were very traditional - "women are like this and men are like that." It was stale and got boring pretty quickly unfortunately.

bughead-874255 February 2019
The comedy itself is hilarious and honest mister ramono hits the nail on the hammer so to speak with some subjects in a hilarious wah my problem is half the show is him just walking down the street just talking like saying hi to people and other things but the actual comedy is fantastic

Pretty Damn Funny
bigdbk8 February 2019
I've never seen one second of his sitcom and I've only seen his premiere stand up on Letterman back in the day. Threw this on by chance and found myself laughing all the way through. I'm only about to be 40 but I can identify with so much of his family/marriage humor. Too funny, loved it!!

Warning: Spoilers
So refreshing to have a healthy laugh without much of a fuss. The walk and the get-together at the end was the cherry on top! Netflix requires many more of these.

Loved it!
kishwarkhan0710 February 2019
Just finished watching and am I thrilled I clicked on it. Needed a "cheer-me-up" as I start falling sick with fever and a throat infection. Laughed throughout! Totally relatable as I'm also just over 50. Was amused that the younger ones were "getting it" as well. Nice touch with the ending - family getting pizza.

Disappointing
wtwenz_2021 February 2019
I thought I would find Ray Romano funny, but I chuckled maybe a couple of times at most. Most of this schtick was about old man sex/lack of sex and old man balls. Just gross and not something I want to hear or find funny. Nothing new. Turned it off shortly after the second set.

Right Here, Around the Corner
micherone10 February 2019
Everybody Loves Raymond is one of my favorite television sitcoms, but I had never seen any of Ray Romano's standup. I thought it was a great special. Nice to see a comedian who is just naturally funny and who doesn't feel the need to push the envelope to get laughs. I enjoyed the second half more than the first, but they both made me laugh out loud.
