As I sat down to watch the 2018 Vietnamese romantic comedy, I must admit that I hadn't even heard about the movie. So I didn't know what to expect, nor did I know what I was in for here.
Turns out that "Super Star Super Silly" (aka "Sieu sao sieu ngo") wasn't really all that impressive a movie. Sure, it was watchable, but the storyline just didn't have much of any real appeal to it. The storyline was just too bland and mundane.
And it didn't really help much that the movie was pretty much devoid of comedy situations. I didn't even laugh once throughout the course of the entire movie. So that was somewhat of a disappointment. And as for the romantic aspect of the movie, well I can't say that the romances in the movie were grand or particularly outstanding or believable.
The acting in the movie was adequate. I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress in the movie, but people were putting on good enough performances. Now, I am not saying memorable or outstanding performances, keep that in mind.
"Super Star Super Silly" is a movie that came and went without leaving a lasting impression for me. And when I think of the Vietnamese cinema this is hardly the movie that I will be remembering.
I am rating "Super Star Super Silly" a less than mediocre four out of ten stars.
