Lol!

I don't know what these other critics are talking about 10 minutes of killing white kids. It was about four minutes and he made the case for having better cops. It was funny.

Not his best, but some laughs
jellopuke19 February 2018
Edgy in places, but that's the way he's always been. If you can't handle it, maybe you need to lighten up. Some of it is a tad out of touch, but overall a solid enough set that it's worth checking out as long as you don't have a stick up your butt.

Honest
arusinghnz9 June 2018
Strange seeing reviews on this and other Stand-Up specials from the last 2yrs and realizing that some people are just joining IMDB just to give a 1 rating.

I enjoyed this, having been thru similar, albiet not the kids or courtroom dramas or kids but, the divorce, the mess and dating again. Unless you have been thru it, you won't laugh.

And since its a specific audience/people that the jokes are aimed at, other viewers are getting offended. Funny that.

Truly laugh out loud funny
tulleaca23 February 2018
Some people won't understand the humour but at the end of the day, most of his jokes were hilarious because they rang true. Sensitive people won't want to hear it but it didn't change the fact that he's correct. He dropped nothing but truth bombs. Even when he discussed his failed marriage, he was dropping wisdom. Made you think and was still funny.

Not the funniest stand-up comedy show but still watchable
deloudelouvain6 March 2018
The amount of people rating this show with one star is just ridiculous. Do those people have no sense of humor at all? I'm not saying this was the best stand-up comedy I ever saw, far from that, but it was okay to watch once. I had a couple good laughs and a few minor laughs. Not that it was hilarious but I was entertained, and that's the only thing that matters to me. Calling Chris Rock a racist is just ridiculous. If you can't see the humor of the white and black jokes you must have a pretty pathetic sense of humor, or in some case just no sense of humor at all. You have to take this all at a second degree, just don't pay too much attention to it, because if it's not allowed to laugh with everything anymore just banish stand up comedy for good then.

not funny but not bad
ChrisaRafa26 February 2018
I'm not a fan of stand up comedy. I rarely laugh with them. Tamborine wa not funny but more bitter with some harsh things that is the truth. I can understand the bad reviews especially by white people cos we are privileged and we can't understand the racism that black people are facing every day. But he does have a point to many things that he said. I still love him but I think that he can do funnier things. Maybe it's the age (I had no idea that he is over 50), maybe he's divorce but we do need his voice, we do need tha good Chris Rock back.

Funny as hell, but boy, political correctness in 2018 is so no ready for this
g_20046 October 2018
First things first: I really give it 10 stars because I liked it for 10 stars, not because it has so many undeserved 1 star reviews.

I'm a 32 year old, living in Bulgaria and a long time Chris fan. Most his movies are meh, but his shows were always entertaining as hell. It's the new kids on the block who are raised in this sissy as* era and can't handle some DARK humor.

Come on, if you can't handle sarcasm, you shouldn't watch this. Neither should you give it 1 star, that's so unfair to Chris's work. He's an outstanding comedian and touches very sore social problems as good as he does with everyday topics.

Calling out cops to shoot more white kids is as funny as it's absurd. And if people are too sensitive, that's their problem, they should not look for it in Chris's great show.

The 2nd part of the show gets really funny about the good ol' man vs woman, family life every day stuff and I really had the best laugh for years.

Highly recommended for all people that don't suffer from this decade's HYPERSENSITIVITY. Yeah, folks, it's a decease. Psychotherapy is thriving, if you haven't heard and it's not even shameful anymore to take care of your emotional health. 'cause you're livin' in the real world, last time I checked, people were stoned to death for havin' a beer, so I think you should be aware what place, time and age you live in.

10/10 and a must see.

People being a little harsh but truth is that is not very good.
SP-1030 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I saw part of the tour so I was already familiar with the material. It is a comedy routine not political commentary. Sure, some bad taste with killing white kids but there are much harsher jokes out there...say anything by Anthony Jeselnik who I also love. Overall, it is true that this is below Rock standards but he set bar so high with Bring the Pain and Bigger and Blacker. The filming is really cheap and bad. Crowd is constantly show which distracts from Chris as the center of attention. Material is way more personal than before and his divorce comments due give impression that he is doing this for the money. This criticism is accurate. His relationship material (usually the best of his specials) lacks originality and feels stale. Still, there are many gems and I did laugh at many of his jokes. Worth an hour but not nearly as good as previous routines.

Tamborine is definitely a favorite!
bshawne-9535522 April 2018
This special was funny and yes it's offensive but guess what that's what comedians do...be offensive. I thought he was honest about his personal experiences and captured the sentiment of what people are thinking regarding the crazy crap that's going on in our country today. I thought he was on point. Great job, Mr. Rock!

He speaks facts. Made me chuckle but not laugh
alahmed-556734 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't laugh but i did chuckle a few times. I enjoyed it because hes speaking facts. until he spoke about bullies and bullying and I absolutely disagree with him.

I do not condone bullying I hate bullying around the world and I am 100% sure that if there were no bullies in this world it will be a better place for everyone. And there will be a lot a lot more successful people. If you attended this special you'd know that he condone bullying and say bullies do half of the work of what make you successful. And he gave examples like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.

Couldn't agree with him more about relationships both sides are there to serve not to be equals.

I disagree with him when he said it's not your house it's you're wife's. In my perspective it's my house but it's her home. He suggested a test. The test was to hang a picture of the man's mother in the house. Well... i have a couple...

I partially agree with him and I like that he made this point clear. A woman's life is hard and thats known. (This is what i partially agree with) what i liked and really agree with him on. Is that a mans life is cold. (Also hard). And thats a fact that a lot of ppl have ignored.

Not good on any level.
ezgames16 February 2018
I love stand up comedy and I'm willing to give any comic a huge chance to win me over. Unfortunately, Chris Rock was so boring. I'm terrible at predicting jokes and so many punchlines were obvious and stale. I actually couldn't believe a comic god like Chris Rock would have such dull and standard punchlines.

The worst part of the special is the racism. I don't mind if it would be interesting and a new take on racism, but it was the played out: "I'm black so I can make fun of white people all day with no repercussions." How original...

I would not recommend this special to anyone.

(P.S. I am only harsh here because I love comedy and I want to give my honest opinion. I really didn't want to dislike this special.)

All of these reviews are stupid besides this one
misterlukesullivan27 February 2018
I've seen hundreds of specials and this was my favorite. I read all these reviews here and I just don't think these people were open to taking his perspective on topics that we all face. Comedy isn't just punch line after punch line anymore. That style of comedy is too easy for legends like Chris Rock, Chappelle and Louie. Legends of comedy teach. They are so good at vocalizing the lessons they learn while also making it funny. If you aren't ready to learn and personally reflect on yourself, you're dumb and this special may not be enjoyable for you.

This special showed a vulnerable side of Chris Rock. It really was amazing to watch. It was intelligent, clever, deep and insanely relatable. It is without a doubt his best work, and in my opinion the best special of all time.

Netflix is changing comedy for the better

Chris Rock was the best
blomax7516 February 2018
Chris was at the top of movies and stand up but over the years his acting and movies were good and funny. Now his acting career is trash but his stand up has always been great maybe close to Richard Pryor but after this hack performance I lost all my respect for him.Racism and totally mail in act. Must need money after his ex clean him out.

He Should Have Waited Two More Months....
jamaisj-838-937329 June 2018
There should a law against comedians performing until a year after the ink dries on their divorce papers.

The "killing kids" jokes fell pretty flat. Admittedly it looks like part was of cut off, but it came off was something he was saying just to say and this set was before Parkwood, but there was just no focus on it and while it could have been funny it was just lacking something, but that was true of the entire set.

Overall, he was flitting from topic to topic like a hyper-active butterfly and didn't really build on any of jokes. It just looks like he was pulling out all of the expected punchlines and using the rest of the set for therapy. As such it wasn't his best, but he was sort of brave for getting back on stage so soon.

Not his best
mariellealien17 February 2018
While there were funny bits, he doesn't even resemble the levels of funny that I've seen from him before. He was on point with his racial issue topics, but at some points it felt more like one of those heartfelt clips on facebook, with cheesy music, than a comedyspecial. I chuckled a couple of times, but that was about it. Maybe the lack of audience reaction at times made it even less funny than it actually was, I'm not sure. All in all, wasn't that good, but it could have been worse.

Chris Rock: Tambourine shows the premiere comic return to the limelight after some professional/personal set-backs. Well made, timely & consistently funny, Tambourine is a hilarious, vulgar triumph.

Disappointment
galeanoadrianfernando17 February 2018
I have wait it for another Chris Rock standup for so, so long... I did not laugh, not once. Cliche after cliche after cliche, one bad joke after the other. Where is the Chris Rock of "Never Scared"? Racism, machism, and bad comebacks, that's all there is to it.
