No special agent can make the mistake McGee made, it simply can't happen

Keep Your Enemies Closer

Warning: Spoilers
An exciting episode here with a real old-school villain on the run. Always good when they outsmart NCIS, although I wish he did it for another episode or two. You don't have to put a bow on everything after just two episodes.

Enjoyable, even with the annoying Fornell in it.

French Stewart was okay, but not nearly as creepy as a killer should have been.

Holes and errors

Warning: Spoilers
There were a few holes like why McGee getting all the family stuff out of the apartment but then tell him all the details about them and errors like Fornell kicking out the backseat and Hicks doesn't notice it... The scripts are getting sloppier as the show ages.

Excellent episode

French Stewart made this episode. This, and his previous appearance, are the only times I have seen him perform as a serious actor. I think he did an excellent job. His interactions with McGee were brilliant. The bad guy was creepy and the plot was well written and suspenseful.

Is it about Paul or Gabriel?
harrykivi16 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After "Keep your friends close" was a fine sequel to an awesome "Burden of proof", I expected a good finale to one of my favorite stories NCIS has done for years. "Keep your enemies closer" is just as good as its previous episode, even bit worse.

Let's start with good.

. The story is entertaining at times- jokes mostly do work and Paul Triff is an awesome character who I would like to see more in the future. Action scenes are also well done.

But...

. It just doesn't feel the ending I would have wanted Gabriel Hicks story to have. To be honest "Keep your enemies closer" feels dissatisfying, because much of the focus is again not on Hicks but on Triff, which left me wondering is this story about Paul or Gabriel. I came to a conclusion that catching Gabriel Hicks is done with such hurry and not much thought, which is sad to say the least.

Overall, disappointing, but watchable NCIS.

Airbag failure again?
langley-802039 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why is it that airbags don't deploy in this series?

There would be more agents guarding the convict on his 48 hour pass. All meals would have been planned and prepared in advance of his little vacation.

I have to submit 600 characters. This Series is very entertaining. I'm glad that it has had such a long run time. Most of the NIS/NCIS Agents that I worked with in my time serving in the Navy, were never this tough. Nor did they investigate so many bad service members.

Kudos to the writers for keeping the Show alive and entertained. I would like to see more content of what happens during an international incident in the series!

Congrats and Thanks for the Show!

Most Stupid Ever
jimmyrygg28 February 2018
Some NCIS episodes just don't make much sense. Why so many trained law enforcement people could make so many stupid mistakes is beyond me. I was really disappointed in McGee, as he usually seems like one of the grown ups in the show. It may be time to turn this show out to pasture. Watch the old shows on Netflix--so much better than today's.

Similar issues that "Criminal Minds" had
CrimeDrama117 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched every episode of most TV crime dramas and own a few DVD sets. "Criminal Minds" and "NCIS" shined in their first two seasons. Jason Gideon's character was different than Caitlyn Todd's but they both were important team members. Both characters exited after the first two seasons and neither series was ever the same. Anyway, "Criminal Minds" was VERY predictable in one sense and I saw the same thing in this episode. Whenever an agent (any law enforcement officer) was without immediate backup, bad things were going to happen, every time. Fornell gets kidnapped as does McGee when both should have been on high guard and able to set traps for the serial killer. McGee's super slow motion reaction to Triff crashing the open metal gate into the killer's face is laughable as he escapes otherwise unharmed but not before shooting Triff while McGee fires shots from a bizarre position and misses. I wonder how Sean Murray feels about McGee being made to look so inept at key moments. With crime dramas, viewers may be able to solve the mystery but it should never be predictable like this episode was.
