This was not the worst film I have seem but also far from the best. I quite enjoy trashy tv movies but this one just didn't really do it for me, it is not a fast paced movie which would be fine but the characters were just not developed enough to be interesting or for anyone to be invested in, this problem is amplified by some bad casting decisions, the woman playing Gladys for example is in a retirement home but she is clearly way too young to be playing the role of an elderly grandmother. Probably best to skip this one

Everything You Want to Know About Home Security Systems & Pecan Pies
lavatch14 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"The Neighborhood Watch" (a.k.a., "Seduced by My Neighbor") is a by-the-numbers Lifetime thriller with very little suspense.

With her daughter Allie, a widow, Sarah, moves into a rural neighborhood to be close to the mother of her deceased husband and is immediately greeted by an overzealous "security" expert. The man's name is Mike, and he is all-too-willing to be helpful in matters of security.

Sarah and Allie immediately encounter problems with home security, yet never suspect Mike of any wrongdoing. Even when Mike blows his cookies in an embarrassing display of temper during a ping pong game, no one harbors any suspicions. The filmmakers could have exploited the voyeuristic possibilities more completely in Mike's rigging of the home security system, and his obsession with following every waking and sleeping moment in Sarah's life.

This film stretched credibility beyond the pale and did not include enough human realities to sustain interest for ninety minutes. There was never much suspense, and the subplots with the old ladies at the retirement center and the buxom, voyeuristic neighbor Julia were simply not interesting.

The major romantic intrigue between Chris and Sarah was never quite believable, and the ending was far too pat, especially the details about cuckolded Mike's mad drive in pursuit of his wife's lover, which led him on a collision course with Sarah's husband, Neal.

The best scenes were the moments when Sarah's home-baked pecan pies were on display. Sadly, the pies were the most memorable part of the film!

funny and realistic
NijazBaBs26 May 2020
I liked this movie for being very realistic, funny, and reminds me of my childhood. It reminds me of various conflicts related to love I experienced or witnessed somebody experiencing in my childhood. Although the movie is amateur and has no special qualities, the fact that it is real, honest, and associative, makes it better than most other movies for example unreal and unclear ones. Simple, teaching, odd. Shows us the 1% of events we have hard chance witnessing in our real life, but only read about it in the news.

Waste of Time
lisamoss-2719430 December 2018
Wish I had not bothered. The mother and daughter are obnoxious. Put some creepy glasses on Beth Broderick and let's pretend she is the mother-in-law, right......... Really wish I had not wasted my time.

Not again!

After so many years and movies of sh..., the lesson wasn't learned: this movie (read: waste of time) is the same old crap that we are tired of seeing, but it can be a lot worst if we that this "thing" is from 2018!..

Honestly, i start to see when the couple, her daughter, and the security are in front of her house because the alarm, and in seconds i saw right away the kind of "movie" it was. Yeah, you don't need more than a few seconds to understand it.

This is why Lifetime movies have a bad reputation
tomfsloan20 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Poor story telling. Stupidness galore. What was the purpose of the one blonde girl friend? Why was Gladys even there? Why did the cop act like a robot? One good thing, they clobbered the bad guy and he didn't get up, as in most movies.

This one surprised me Warning: Spoilers
I won't say more about the plot, but I didn't expect it to go where it went by the time the climax came and it's rare for these types of movies to surprise me.

As usual in these Lifetime movies, characters die by strangulation within 5 seconds of hands wrapping around their throats. As soon as they're in a choke hold, they laughably drop dead instantly. It's so absurd....and a character gets suffocated by a pillow and doesn't even kick her legs lol. She just sits in the chair like she's watching TV while having the life snuffed out of her.

At least TRY and make the murders look realistic! And this is strangely titled "Seduced By My Neighbor" on Lifetime Movie Network and I don't know why because the main character was never seduced by any of her neighbors throughout the film. Still recommended though.

Predictable Thriller from Reel One Entertainment
lisafordeay5 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Watching Over You(alternatively The Neighborhood Watch) is a 2018 thriller starring Sierra McCormack(Ramona and Beezus),Beth Broderick,Trevor St John and Andrea Bogart.

After the death of her husband a young woman named Sarah (Bogart) moves to a new suburb with her daughter Allie (McCormack) and she meets a security guard named Mike(John) who introduces himself to them both.

What happens next is a trial of obessesion and life and death. Overall I thought it was an OK film. The majority of all these made for tv thrillers are so ridiculous you know exactly how it's going it end(the bad guy or girl is always revealed within the hour yet you know their intentions throughout the film).

Available on Amazon Prime.

Quite exciting and involving
phd_travel13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Interesting premise and good execution. A widow moves in recently to a gated community near her Mother in law's retirement home. She falls for the son of another retiree. Meanwhile one of the neighbours who is involved in security obsesses over her. Not much of a surprise who the villain is. It's pretty obviously revealed quite early on. But things are quite scary for Lifetime standards as he goes after her mother in law etc.

Worth a watch.
