Good Film
ashrafkaisi15 June 2020
The film has very interesting moments, between scary and love the film is going into an interesting journey of its own, this is my second time watching it on Netflix after I have seen it in the cinema.

Good Horror
Pairic3 June 2020
122: Egyptian horror film based on an old trope: a couple, Nasr and Umnia, are brought to a hospital after a traffic accident but Nasr disappears, he was never in the hospital. Turns out there's a secret clinic in the basement where organs are removed for transplant but Nasr wakes up. An ongoing fight and flight ensues as good doctor battle bad and Nasr flees through vents shafts. Umnia will not give up either. Quiet gory and while not particularly original it is engaging and certainly worth watching. Directed by Yasir Al-Yasiri from a screenplay by Salah El Gehiny. 7/10. On Netlix.

Amazing story
MemetM16 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ahmed Dawood is an amazing actor and able to deliver the feelings in many parts of this movie which is something he's been known for.

The story is lacking some important critical parts like how was he able to come back to the hospital to save Amina and how fast that was after he's been in a comma in the doctors car.

The ending could have been more real and meaningful.

The cops special appearance should have added more spices to the story. they just made it simple and dump.

What happened to the baby! this is unreal because if the baby died, the recovery shouldn't have been that fast and/ or shown the miscarriage symptoms.

I liked that at the end of the movie he appreciated her being with him even though he has a lot of money. This sincerely loving guy wouldn't sell her out no matter what and that's the most beautiful thing in the story that he's never given up on her.

I was also waiting for the theme song "Bahebak" at the end of the movie but it wasn't there

This movie is great start to make a change in the arabic cinema. nice story and characters that make you interact with them and root for their victory.

i wish only if they didn't make it in 4dx because i felt dizzy.

Worse than B.grade
antoniostselikis5 September 2020
This is by far probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Actors where good. ...however plot /story is so dumb. and it's not even B-grade movie this is a z grade movie my 11-year-old could have made a plot like this.

Only unique as a genre
shaimaa-fatehy10 January 2019
What's good about it: Acting, drama, action, thrill & suspense all together make this movie a new-try recipe for the Arabic Cinema industry that usually depends on one or two ingredient beside good acting.

What's bad about it: There is no coherent plot that builds up to a climax then a resolution. Nothing is left for the audience to guess concerning the characters or the course of actions, maybe except for Tarek Lotfy's and Ahmed Dawood's illogical resurrection as if getting out of the battlefield untouched; only some bruises.

Brilliant story, unreal acting
mohd-1197511 January 2019
The story is excellent, the acting of Amina Khalil and Ahmed Dawood reminds me of Indian unrealistic films, like Amina given a anesthetic and wake up, Ahmed Dawood fall to elevator shaft like he fall from the bed to the ground, and the scene when he vomted blood in the car while they escaping in the BMW and why he become alive without any explanation.

Surprisingly Good.
moniatarabishi12 June 2020
Aside from the entertainment this film provides, it tackles a very important subjects too, like human organs trade, drugs, and poverty. I believe the film did really well with what it has, a low budget film completes in a market when horror films are jokes! from what I heard the film did really well in the box office and this is both good and encouraging to the rest of Egyptian films to do something out of the ordinary.

Not as good as expected
Ni30126 June 2020
No doubt it's a good movie to watch for time pass. It seemed a low budget South Indian movie. The antagonist character (doctor) was superb. The lead female character was also amazing. However the lead male character was some time awesome but some time not impressive. Script could be better. Direction and editing needed improvements. Overall a good to go. You can't expect much from country like Egypt, where Cinema industry is not very developed. Hope they will do something great in future.

Suitably compelling, if regrettably imperfect
I_Ailurophile5 October 2021
There's consistent consideration of lighting to help build atmosphere, and composer Saif Oraibi's original score also works to that end - not the most electrifying film music in the world, but quite suitable. I think the cast do a fine job, most especially leads Amina Khalil as Omneya, and Ahmed Dawood as Nasr, ably realizing the hapless lovers with force of personality, range, and all necessary physicality. There's a point to be made, however, that all are perhaps constrained by writing that force them into performances as little more than very typical horror-thriller archetypes - protagonists, antagonists, one-note supporting characters. For the most part I think the acting is quite fine, though whether a result of the actors' limits or tawdry direction from filmmaker Yasir Al Yasiri, there are definitely some instances that are less than convincing. These are especially glaring considering the general strength of Khalil and Dawood's portrayals.

I think Salah Algoheny's screenplay is quite good as a whole, offering great potential as the story of a couple who stumble into illicit dealings at a hospital. I'm just not entirely sure that the execution is all that it could have been. Whether by design or maybe budgetary restrictions, the hospital feels exceptionally empty (of villains); scenes that in a comparable feature may be especially grisly are instead rather perfunctory, not fully imparting the dire circumstances; the most action-oriented moments sometimes seem halfhearted. In too many ways, '122' often feels somewhat lacking. There are a couple story beats that just don't connect as believably as they should, while others seem a tad conventional.

Still, there's a strong sense of tension, and growing suspense, that if not all-consuming is sufficient to keep us actively engaged. In no way is the movie perfect, and some aspects feel regrettably deficient. But it's entertaining, duly compelling, and more worthwhile than not. I want to like it more than I do; it's flaws hold it back in my opinion - yet in the end '122' is enjoyable, and fairly well made and satisfying. If not the most essential horror-thriller available, this is worth checking out if you come across it.

Americanized
kosmasp25 September 2020
This is not worse or better than its American counterparts. It has the components that make those US movies good or rather help them, but it also has those flaws (character decisions being one of the biggest ones with cliches close second). Still there is enough tension to hold the movie together from beginning to end.

After an accident, a couple seems to be torn apart. At least the woman can't find her other half. The deaf part thing gives it a nice touch or edge, which some may find great and others annoying. It is there and it is something that is helping to make up some scenes. If you like horror, you could do worse

What????
jihad-1748510 January 2019
Horrible, avoid at all costs -The actors are clearly out of practice. -The dialogue is laughable , so many random phrases.
  • horrible cgi, you can tell that the scars are fake, they look like pen markers. Also, the blood looked soooo fake it gets funny.
  • There's really no point in extending the music for that long Lmfao, the actors are talking and the supposedly "scary" music is still playing in the background??? That doesnt make any sense.
  • Awkward camera angles.
  • very predictable.

The only good thing about this movie is the atmosphere/location, that's about it.

Don't waste your money, go only if you want to laugh.

Thrilling Ride
israawaleed-2953115 June 2020
I personally consider this film as the corner stone for the future of psychological horror in the Middle East! Prior to this one all of our Horror films experiences are telling the same story about Jinn! The film is really good to watch and it worth all the praises that it's getting.
