Not a single original idea in the script
bleedingvigilantes18 April 2021
I want to be fair and say that I actually liked the monster design, considering this couldn't have had much of a budget.

Sadly, there is another hour and a half of movie surrounding said monster which I was not as fond of. The cast acts like they're graduating middle school rather than fully grown adults-- good Lord, the way they talk about the female lead almost made me quit in the first ten minutes. There's little attempts at building suspense, other than the stock monster sound effects that were already overused a decade ago.

It's rough, but not in the fun, promising way where you can see the film maker's ideas shining through. The quintessential uninspired found footage movie to be dumped on streaming services and then forgotten about.

5.7? Really???
swalden_2819 November 2019
The rating is way too high on this film, this is what I might call a 3.8. The first hour is filled with pointless footage that just keeps going. The acting is poor and these "Expert Survivalist" just are not very convincing. Felt like I wasted my time watching this. I should have taken a clue from the first couple min in that this would be poor.

Starts out ok, finishes badly
sorrowharvester2 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This doesn't deserve a 10 but it certainly doesn't deserve a 1.

The film starts out fine and has good banter around what they're planning. Though I'll admit, the writing could have been tightened up a bit.

it definitely could have used more creep factor. Shows a nice creepy shot with the outline of the creature in the background and a couple other creepy moments but that's about it.

It really starts to fall apart about 2/3 of the way in then gets sloppy when the Dennis dies and seems to finish hastily and even more sloppily.

I gave it a bit higher score because I liked the premise, felt it had potential and the actors in the first part did a decent job.

Too bad, as I had hopes for this one.

Like most Blair Witch wannabes, this mess misses by a lot.
song_of_rainbow26 October 2020
There is the creep, who thinks he is the ultimate cool guy (shaved head?); the smart nice guy, that makes you wonder "how did end up in this group? and the one in the middle. You wait and wait and wait, 1/2 way through the movie you finally get to hear something strange, asides from the stupid, juvenile banter. As in: I gotta pee; did you do her; you always drop ice on the floor (not kidding),etc. By the time the action started, all I could think was "hope bald, 10 year old, ends up DEAD". Blair Witch Project was filmed by a group of unexperience people, WITH BRAINS, and became a cult classic. I was there for the first screening. This one is a lousy brainless mess. The actor playing the nice guy deserved better. Trying to remake cult classics is a huge mistake in most cases, because most fail. I can count on the fingers of one hand, the lost footage movies that got it right. And, I have been watching horror movies since Romero's 1968 "There coming to get you, Barbara.

Don't belive the fake reviews!
reiki_david12 November 2019
Yet again, we have a film that seems to only have positive reviews for it. I just watched it , and can categorically state that anything over two stars for this POS is hyperbole.

This is no Blair Witch. It's not even a decent found footage film. It's 90% padding, where people with dismal acting talent try and ad-lib a set-up that's bereft of any meaningful characterisation, exposition, etc. It's just filler, nothing more. It's a tropes' trope.

There's no payoff worthy of staying awake for. If you make it to the end without skipping, I applaud you. If you *do* watch it all through, you may notice the illogic, like how seemingly terrified people fighting for their lives suddenly branch into scripted comedy, duelling with barbed quips that someone obviously thought was hilarious when writing it. (At that point I preferred the dreadful ad-lib.) Or like how a creature that is intimately aware of the territory hasn't already hunted down the family who own a holiday home there. Or...THAT ending. Oh geeze. Someone thought it was a good twist? Well, y'see, when telling a story, you can make ANY kind of twist you want. You can make it reveal that it's all a dream, or that everyone is made of jelly. Doesn't make it good, or proffer any advancement of quality to the work. But what am I saying? The people who made this have no concept of quality. It's a by-the-numbers, my-first-movie/script/acting job, and it reeks of its' own dismal ineptitude.

AVOID!!

Horrible. Don't waste your time. Poor, annoying acting, wannabe Blair witch ripoff without the payoff. And spoiler alert there's no "twist" at the end as some reviewers would have you believe.

Just awful
dpepper120005 March 2022
I like these guys based on their podcast. However this film is just garbage. The story is boring, the effects are terrible and the acting is subpar. Avoid at all costs.

not bad found footage
thejhorton7 May 2020
Ever since blair witch, I've loved found footage stuff. When done right it came be super effective. There's tons of very bad ones out there. This is one of the better ones. the reality/webseries aspect Reminds me a bit of Wrong Turn 2 which I love. The acting is hit and miss, but nothing takes you out of it. Had some genuinely suspenseful moments. If you like horror and found footage give it a go.

Not sure why people are sh**ting all over this.
chloejehowell21 November 2020
I felt this not only had a good character development which gave it a solid foundation. It had a good amount of menace and to top it all off a creepy creature!

Yawn-worthy
thrax-2331617 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ignore all of the fake reviews -- it's incredibly rare for any found footage film to truly excel in the horror genre, and anyone claiming that this film is something special or great is either lying or has literally never seen a horror film before. This one is another dull-as-dishwater by-the-books affair, featuring the typical cast of bros wandering around in the woods making lame comments and generally acting like the kind of people you'd avoid like the plague IRL, until thankfully they all get killed off. Like most FF films, this one is about 95% boring filler and about 5% black-and-white shaky cam footage of Something Menacing. Following the formula, the first 65 minutes of the film are pointless nonsense, followed by 10 minutes of bad effects and shots that would only scare small children, and a barely 10 second wrap-up.

If you like having something inconsequential play on TV in the background while you mostly ignore it and do other things, this might be the film for you.

Nice twist on the found footage genre
davidjzellis15 November 2019
I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the Found Footage genre however when done right and cleverly it can be effective.

Without spoiling it She walks the woods utilizes a nice twist on a sometimes stale genre, keeps the mystery alive and enough tension and fear that makes you want to stay until the end credits.

a great horror movie
quintondhenwood3 March 2020
I gave it 7/10 stars and state it's a great horror because in my opinion it is a great horror movie. People who review horror badly are clearly the folks who normally don't watch horror anyway. Horror isn't meant to be A grade folks hehehe if you want A grade go watch Titanic by James Cameron. Regardless honestly nothing since Titanic has been A grade. todays drama is bad and embarrasing compared to the old days. this movie entertained me in the right ways for what i wanted and expected out of a horror. it did its job. someone mentioned blair witch.....we didnt even see a witch. That movie is at best a 4 times watch movie then it's bin time. she walks the woods i could watch 16 times.

Omg is this bad
gustheaffen21 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Should be called run away when your best friend is attacked. Literally nothing happens in the movie for about an hour. Just a lot of stupid jokes with bad actors. You get to see them drive, sleep, eat sandwiches, talk smack, and demonstrate they know nothing about real survival. Millennials fantasizing about being adventure survivors. Then they remember this is a horror movie and some lame shrieking starts and a mystery claw hand hits one guy and they all scream and run away. Then they talk about being lost and cry. Then the girl disappears to same claw creature. Really demonstrating survival skills now when the two brothers run off to barricade themselves in an insecure cabin and cry. Of course they still manage to have a camera and make their video. Please just take them all and let this nonsensical borefest be over. The creature is hysterically a deer women with claw hands. Honestly this looked like a high school film project. So bad.

Got to be fake reviews
gillpiggott26 November 2019
I am ashamed I stayed to the end with this one. Grown men acting like the usual teens in slasher movies should have stopped me going further. It is one of those films where you end up 'slacked jawed' at the shear awfulness of the WHOLE production. Two idiot brothers who think they're funny (to themselves) but are just loud and obnoxious and EXTREMELY untalented, wrote and produced and gave themselves 'starring' roles in this travesty. BORING BORING BORING. No tension, no fear and nothing to see here. Don't be fooled into wasting your time. I have no doubt that friends and family only, gave this mess the high scores on here. They should be ashamed of themselves, I am for watching this nonsense!!

I couldn't stay awake
takato052410 February 2021
I was fully awake when this started. Then the actors tried acting. Zzz. Then they spent all this time at the camp fire telling a boring story about how they're awful people. Zzz. Then they're in the woods running. Supposed to be survivalists yet have 0 survival skills. The saddest part is the two main guys are brothers in real life, yet their chemistry seemed so fake and off, like they just met for this project. Hopefully their day jobs are better than this and they give up making movies.

Fake high reviews abound.
Kharnivore209925 November 2019
Im usually dubious when i hear the claims, but there is no people legitimately gave this an 8 or 9. I love found footage movies, but most of this is just pointless filler that adds nothing at all.

Watch the first 5 mins, then the last 25 and you'll have missed nothing.

A Forest
rabenulrik23 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Some friends go into the forest to make a documentary, but only to get killed by a monster. Not the best of 2019, and you get all the camera ad placements and endless rows of handheld horror recommends on Amazon with a lot of bad in between. But, if you and your friends are camera and handheld horror geeks and nerds give this a streaming on a boring day.

Nothing to do with people that actually disappeared in the woods
thcrane-839612 December 2019
This is the first time I watch a movie all the way through, just to make sure everyone dies. So much wasted footage of talking. Best part was that the shrieking in the dark. Period.

Indie Found Footage Gets It Right
DarkBlueChris55510 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
20 years on from The Blair Witch Project, it's still influencing enough filmmakers to keep the found footage genre alive on its own. And while there are a considerable amount of duds out there, there's also enough gems to convince us it's worth sticking with this much maligned sub-genre of horror.

And She Walks The Woods certainly falls into the gem category. The set up is simple - as four people head out into the remote wilderness to film their latest edition of the web series Ultimate Survival, only to come across something horrific that hunts them the minute they arrive at their remote, off the grid cabin. And after obliviously thinking it may be a mountain lion, the four soon realise that it's something far worse.

Found Footage is always at its best when it keeps things straight forward, which is why She Walks The Woods works so well. No unnecessary jump scares, no red herrings, just a gradual build up of dread that beholds the small cast of characters until they eventually fall victim to the thing that walks the woods. The tension keeps ratcheting up as every POV shot through the cameras threatens to reveal whatever it is that's stalking them.

She Walks The Woods feels like a love letter to the aforementioned Blair Witch Project, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's a great effort from everyone involved and hopefully there will be more to come from them. Fans of the FF genre will really appreciate She Walks The Woods for its slow burn atmosphere and genuine creep factor, and whilst it may not convert anyone who isn't already a fan of these films, those of us who do like them we are well catered for. Highly recommended.

It's just OK for a Blair rip off.
coltonzimmermancz17 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's OK for what it is, super long intro found footage style with super cliche party of 4. Last 20 is minutes is the typical ending of this genre, good for a laugh. The creature use was pretty cool and kinda creepy. That's all I'll repeat the rest of the text. It's OK for what it is, super long intro found footage style with super cliche party of 4.
