Having been extremely disappointed about this season, it was a breath of fresh air to see Modern Family in top form with this episode. Let's hope we see more wit like what I saw in E18 going forward!

Laughably-honest slice of life

"Daddy Issues" depicts the show's signature humour of everyday situations.
Phil struggles to find Claire an anniversary gift, always landing in the idea of a novelty key chain. The climax of this scene is outstanding, allowing Ty and Julie to showcase their superb physical comedy skills.
Conversely, in the Tucker-Pritchett household, Lily desires a bra amid teasing at school. Understandably perplexed by the female changing body, Cam and Mitch struggle, but ultimately do what they can for their girl.
Gabriel Inglies guest stars in a truly hilarious cameo. The visual humour is beautiful.
In conclusion, Daddy Issues depicts real situations with sprinkles of humour.

Warning: Spoilers
April Fool's Day competition for what is more insanely funny - between Gloria setting up Manny and Jay to believe that the Manny-identical butcher from down the road is Manny's true father "Jorge"; and Phil's dull wedding anniversary gift saving the day in multiple ways as Claire's perfect present for him crashes in those same multiple ways. Throw into that Luke and Phil using Joe to try and extract info from Claire; and Mitch and Cam training Lily's slumber-party friends to be as sneaky as possible in contacting boys over their mobile phones and you've got an incredibly well-crafted comedy plot of separate but also at times interacting strands. This one's from Director Chris Koch, and if you never see anything cleverer and funnier than this you'll have done more than alright...
One of the best episodes!

Warning: Spoilers
When Gloria's ex-boyfriend visits Jay and Manny, the former begin to question the similarities between him and Manny; Phil tries to find a good anniversary gift for Claire; Mitchell and Cameron face Lily's growth and puberty issues.
Season eight was definitely not the best season in terms of writing and directing of the episode. However, said episode finally showed us that the writers know how to make a succeeded episode.
Every storyline is hilariously written, including Phil's mop scene, Mitchell and Cameron's crush advice and the meeting between Gloria's ex and Manny.
The episode surpasses high expectations, and manages to create entertaining scenes and unique story lines that seem as though they have been dragged fout from the first seasons of the series.
The episode is overall wonderful, with a pinch of emotion and a scoop of laughter.
