- Most of the series contains absolutely no sexual content or nudity.
- One brief scene has a character point out how a member of another marine species in a cleavage-baring outfit has large "water jugs" (referring to her breasts).
- There are infrequent scenes of natural nudity, such as gemstone characters sleeping and preparing to swim. Their bodies are entirely nondescript and seen from a distance, with only bare buttocks being visible.
- Gems are seen naked or semi-naked a couple times, but they have smooth androgenous bodies

- There are occasional scenes of mild to moderate fantasy violence and combat. Due to the nature of the Gems, it is common for them to lose limbs or break apart during battles; however, this is highly stylized/bloodless.

- Various characters are shattered into pieces, one is tempted to self harm later causing them to lose both their arms. It is not graphic and there is no blood. Another character someone is close to gets shattered in front of them. The person has nightmares about it and blames it on their/his/herself.
- Characters are smashed during fights, and some are captured to the Lunarians. Some Lunarian attacks may be disturbing.
- One character seriously considers self harm.
