It's a semi-scripted series, season 6 is great, they are Dustin's claims, he has bought them, he pays fir the equipment.

If the people around him didn't like it they would be out of there. Also they get paid by Discovery to appear! By crikey 4 or 5 months working hard getting many thousands per episode plus a % of any gold found... yeah Dustin must be upset by your reviews! He wins anyway!!! He gets some nice Gold, TV fees & repeats fees plus the world wide TV sales fees, then of course any appearance fees off season, any residuals like books, videos, T-shirts. Yeah Dustin and his team are crying in their champagne,

The black guy and Stampler are the laziest pussies ever to be on whitewater.if they replace Stampler you would get a lot more work done. I would love to see you guys succeed but working with lazy people like the ones I have described it is a losing proposition. Kayla out works the men.

The whole team seem to work incredibly hard to try and reach their goal, but I do find it very annoying how the production team manipulate the "coming up" clips and glimpses to try and make the viewer think the whole event is more gripping than it really is. That's their job I guess! Months of slog followed by no gold is just the reality. I'm guessing the financial risk suffered by the Dakota boys is actually fairly low or non-existant. I would have given this show a 6, but the energy, attitude and sheer entertainment value of Carlos means I have to "bang this thing up a notch, brother!"

I have watched this show twice now and am thoroughly disgusted at Dustin's behaviour. The way he speaks to people and treats people is not acceptable. Especially his father. I realize that this show, like all the other reality shows, are scripted and if this is the type of behaviour that sells a show then it is wrong. If Dustin needs to be portrayed this way then he needs some help. Who would want to be portrayed as an egotistical abusive person for money. Dustin, if you think that makes you a hero, I've got news for you. I had so hoped the son of your father's girlfriend would have smashed you in the mouth, but to his credit he didn't. You sooo deserved it!

Yes, richlpz, I have never written a review either, but this show is not acceptable. Glad I am not the only one that thinks it is deplorable behaviour.

As a person who has worked with my hands all my life I admire your superhuman strength day in and day out towards your dream?

Don't let any negative comments crush that.

I'm in my 60s now and the one thing you can't do is turn back time?

I dream of being on your crew Unfortunately, with a bad back probably the only thing I'd be good for his cooking you guys meals? And maybe fixing a few small things here and there?

You people are top notch with the biggest "You know what's!" I've ever seen!!

I pay good money to discovery Channel Just to watch your show? It's too bad about their tax problem, per se?

What they're doing is not fair to your fans. Or you .God bless all of you!!

I hope you suck out every smidgen piece of gold out of that mountain Stream Safe travels to you and your families.. Keep the dream alive!! Oh, and you might want to listen to Fred? I'm sure that old dog still has some wisdom to share?

Many parts of this show i clearly scripted. Like everything with Todd.

Dustin's behavior was really bad, and i hope it is scripted. Espesially against the young kid... and that didnt even look scripted.

The end of the series looked very scripted. And it was also i big disapointment.

I wish this kind a shows had better leadership, and less drama. It would also be better if i got at least the feeling of it beeing geniune (autentic).

Best Gold Rush Yet

There is excitement, suspense but most importantly, likable characters. The shows in the Gold Rush family are staple entertainment for my husband. I'll maybe catch a few minutes of a show here and there. The main reason I'm not a bigger fan is the characters themselves. As soon as I feel the need to yell at or smack someone for their attitude or stupidity I leave the room. Not so with White Water. I actually binged the whole first season with him and did not want to unleash any of my violent tendencies! Can't wait for season two!

I don't get it

I love the locations and props and all that but just how far will they go to test what viewers will accept. The show basically makes no sense whatsoever. I hope they are getting paid by the tv production because the gold they come up with on the show wouldn't feed my turtle after expenses. So why are they so excited at the end of the season over 30 ounces; most times less than that. Basic primary math and common sense says that 4 people over 4 months is nothing even if all their costs are picked up by the tv production. Another, ... on gold rush, fred hurt the so-called expert, digs thru how many seasons to get to the bottom of this glory hole and all he does is dig a hole so deep and narrow that it's too dangerous to mine and we're expected to believe that they gave up and filled in the pit. Then season 4 of this series he does exactly the same thing except for the 'filling in' part. He digs a whole so deep and narrow that they have to give up. And if you notice most are wearing hats and so on with 'porcupine creek' embroidered. I googled it. You can find it on trip advisor. It's (was) a tourist attraction in haines, ak. But, what do people write about? Soap opera nonsense, not the incredible story lines.

I have read how people don't like Dustin's behavior, BUT if you pay attention, he gives apologies when he is wrong, or kudos when jobs well done. Unlike Todd, Dustin gets in there and works hard along side his crew. And he works longer than most of the other crew members. He put everything on the line for this claim and his main thoughts are making him AND his crew rich, and SAFE!! I love the show because it isn't always whining and yelling. They get along for most part, and seem to like what they are doing. I love the humor with these guys. All reality shows are not totally real, but they seem to genuinely like each other and work hard as a team. When I first started watching original Gold Rush I was drawn to the Dakota Boys and absolutely love their own show! PLEASE don't keep saying "take it off air". If you don't like it...fine, turn the channel. But don't ruin it for those of us that really like the show!

I love the crew! But as Dustin says..if you don't want to be here then leave. The guy who left tonight(12/12/21) then BYE! I get Scott being a dick, but dot feed rocks up with the lift if you can PICK THEM UP! Put them in the basket and let your crew help you. That was a coward ways out that he left tonight. Just saying. Weak. Hold your own and get it done!! Period. It's gold and money!! Tempers are V real, but for $$$$$ then get it!!

Same story, every season

Here is how the season goes:

1 - Dustin: oh wow, I am sure that this place has NEVER had miners here before - we are going to find MILLIONS IN BEDROCK GOLD!

2 - They set up shop, dredge, run into a big rock, crack it, move the rock, dredge again

3 - some equipment malfunctions, they fix it, they dredge again, they find more big rocks (go back to step 2)

4- they check the box and find about $20 worth of gold

5 - a storm comes in, the hole gets filled with debris; repeat step 2

6 - they finally reach bedrock, no treasure trove of gold. They then plan to where their bumbling exploits will take them the following season.

7 - they make a mess of their natural surroundings (reference season 6 where they bulldozed land to set up their camp

IN A NUTSHELL: They would make a LOT more if they all quit this fool's errand and went and worked at McDonalds. It's not even close, actually.

This show was the first I watched about gold mining. After I have watched other shows including main Gold Rush series and I can tell this is better and more interesting for me. The beautiful nature, water and wilderness and the way how the gold is collected compared to bulldozers just attracts me more.

This show is terrible. Gets worse every episode. 2 worst characters from gold rush. Neither can gold mine. And their band of merry fools... No one's making any money gold mining. They just rely on discovery cheques.

Does anyone else thing the $50k loan from Todd Hoffman was not real?

This series was pretty entertaining (although Dustin has become a jerk) but does anyone else think the $50K loan was just a scripted plot device that Discovery used as an excuse for Todd to make guest appearances, add drama, and boost ratings? One reason I say this is because I don't get the worker that Todd sent to "observe" (forgot his name)... are we supposed to assume that Todd was paying him to work for Fred? That doesn't make any sense. Second, they only seem to talk about the $50k loan during occasional (what feel like) scripted segments. It felt like the director would show up and say "today we are going to shoot the scenes where you are worried about the loan". Since both Todd and Tony showed up it the series, it's not hard for me to believe that Discovery had a script for Parker to show up too but it either got cut out or Parker refused to do it.

I've watched the normal gold rush and I think this is better !

It's more dangerous and exciting, the normal gold rush is just getting gold every day where this is a real challenge.

They can only find what's there so don't mark the show done for lack of gold .

Hope there is season 4

I love every minute of it. Watched each episode back to back and one of the other reviews say they think the $50K is scripted but in one of the last episodes when Fred calls up Todd. Todd says the gold percentage can wait but he needs the $50K back. That's probably because he paid that diver $50K to be there.

Can't believe this series have only 6.4. Totally underestimated. If you liked the first few seasons of Gold Rush, when the competitors were not bandying 5.000 onzes, you have to watch it, fresh fruit from rotten vegetables.

I have never written a review to any tv show in my life but after watching the latest episode of white water, I had to set up an account and leave a review of what I think was a horrible behavior (I'm been polite here) by Dustin. What happened to you from Porcupine times to turn you into this hater, egocentric maniac that speaks to people or better yet, to employees, the way that you do? I know better, no one does it better or how I wanted, no patience for anyone! I felt bad for you in the past while now you are coming accross as petulant know it all overgrown child. Shame on you for doing this to someone after it was done to you and knowing what it feels like. Between you and me... treat me like that and you might have ended up in the fire pit. Douche. Besides that, love the show. Fred it's coming along great. Keep it up.

Toughest Job around

Love watching the solutions to BIG Problems,, Deadly environment is for REAL. One cannot fully understand the forces at play with Tons of fast moving water that can cripple or kill in a heartbeat. And filming in those conditions is near impossible ! That current will strip you of everything in a flash or leave you tangled beyond help even within reach of the surface...This has to be the toughest environment in which to film, and I'm sure many events went uncaptured. Ice Cold water that leaves you depleted and with teeth chattering, lips blue and deformed afterward, Carbon Monoxide poisoning,or falling enroute to divesite, just surviving is a victory in itself With just 3-4 hours of daylight and canyon winds even the drones would struggle..Breathtaking Views and Top of my watch list!!

It's not interesting

It's boring. Every other gold mining related show is better than this. Take away "Gold Rush" as it's lead in and viewership will be limited to family and friends of crew and cast members. I gave it a chance, watched the first 6 episodes, but it just isn't interesting.

This show could be an 8, 9 easily, just on its own merit, but the whiney, petulant, pouting, baby Dustin is a terrible distraction.

I know that Todd and Parker, and lately even Tony Beets have participated in unnecessary scripted soap opera nonsense in the "Gold Rush" series, but it's too bad they introduced it here, too.

If Dustin is behaving so badly - rude and so incredibly disrespectful to his father, moping around with a defeatist, impatient attitude *like a child*... if it's not done his way he does everything he can to make someone else's idea fail...if he's behaving like this because the show's producers asked him to, just to get a bit of drama in the show, shame on him! That makes it just as bad as if it is *not* scripted! What a goof!

I'll give it a charitable 5, because the other members of the crew, including dad, are so interesting to watch and listen to.

Note to the producers - if you want drama, put Dustin to work for Parker, and quit ruining this show!

God, I love this show. There's nothing better than vicariously busting a gut and freezing one's nuts off in the hope of striking it rich....all from the comfort of one's armchair! This goes for Gold Rush too, which I also enjoy, but this is by far the better of the two shows.

More Recent Revies: Dustin Matures

By 2021 and especially 2022, Dustin has finally become a master of his realm. He loves what he does and has earned respect. Not a cliché. He is much more like a hard line foreman and is competent (finally) after getting out of his fathers shadow. Real danger. Real challenges. Real excitement.

Compared to other gold shows.. only the new Hoffman Family Gold and Freddy Dodge's mine rescue are watchable.

What is more boring than another Schnabel gold room weigh? Maybe a Beets one. You know what will happen every episode of the original gold rush. Dozer Dave's Lost Mine has tobvious help from producers. You can tell the crew would not last a single day on a Gold Rush mine. Bering Sea Gold is just a bunch of knuckle heads.

There is one better show for 2022. The new Hoffman Family Gold is very well done. Story is real. Competence is mixed but if you enjoyed the show when they stuck to Alaska/Yukon then go all in.

Discovery+ has it all on demand with latest episodes commercial free. $7 a month (on Prime at least).

Lets rate directors and producers

I love this show the comradery the river dredging the outlook of possible fortunes, sadly the producers of this show and the network are just butchering it which reflects on the rating of the show. I think we should get the ability to rate producers and directors instead of the bodies of work.

This show would get higher ratings and would be more enjoyable.

If it wasnt for all the scripted parts, the ridicules cliffhangers that leave you on a negative note all week long and most of all delayed episodes.

The main thing people like about reality shows is that it is real and you can get emerged. Right now it doesnt even seems like they are actually running a real operation. It seems like one scripted act. I lose connection with the people and that is exactly why i watch "reality shows"
