The Mental State, directed by James Camali, delves into the psyche of a high school student named Andrew, who struggles to cope with his father’s tragic suicide. Feeling isolated and lacking a support system, Andrew finds solace in a disturbing fantasy where he believes his father is still alive under the facade of a town shooter. Andrew recreates a narrative in his head where he takes up the duty to protect himself, his family, and his classmates from the town shooter. Unable to accept the reality of his father’s death, Andrew goes into a world of hallucinations and drug use to cope with the loss, and he becomes increasingly detached from reality. James Camali’s fantasy thriller film offers a poignant exploration of the complexities of the human mind, touching on themes of Ptsd, Adhd, and depression. The question here is: will Andrew ever be able to differentiate between reality and fiction?...

Exclusive: Blaine Maye (Joe Bell) will topline Tooth Shop Fiasco – A James Lassen Story, the first feature from writer-director David Harari.
Pic centers on James Lassen (May), who has a date with the dentist. And for this good-natured if somewhat clueless slacker/rocker misfit, it’s all downhill from there!
George M. Rush (Sorry To Bother You) is producing the film with Michael Tully (Ping Pong Summer).
Maye found his breakout role, opposite Mark Wahlberg, Connie Britton and Reed Miller, in Solstice Studios’ drama Joe Bell. The actor was also recently a series regular in Eli Roth’s Facebook Watch series, Stereoscope. He can currently be seen opposite Emile Hirsch in the indie feature Son, streaming on Shudder, and will next appear in The Mental State, an indie from director James Camali, starring Bryan Greenberg and Alyssa Sutherland.
Maye is represented by Gersh and Stagecoach Entertainment.
