Survivor‘s latest eliminated castaway departed with some fairly poignant words: “It’s not supposed to be easy, ’cause nothing good ever is.” Truer words, my friends.
On Wednesday’s episode, an advantage once again became a disadvantage, when Shan (cue the music!) convinced Jd to hand over his extra vote for the second time. While Genie seemed to be the likely vote-off, having Jd’s advantage in hand got Shan’s wheels turning, and the Mafia pastor from Toronto weighed the option of turning on her ally and reaping the benefits of one beautiful backstab.

“I was personally excited and maybe hesitant,” explains Gold Derby’s Kevin Jacobson about his expectations heading into “Survivor 41.” He joins Marcus James Dixon and Matt Noble in our weekly Gold Derby “Survivor” slugfest. Marcus adds, “I was worried there would be an ‘Extinction Island’ [where those voted out have a shot at re-entering the game]. I’m glad there’s none. When you’re out, you’re out!” Watch the lively discussion in the video recap above, in which we also address Jeff Probst‘s “Come on in, guys” controversy.
See ‘Survivor’ deaths: Full list of castaways we’ve lost
After 16 months in the wilderness, “Survivor” is back for its 41st season. It’s the competition where a group of castaways work to outlast each other, while battling the elements of the island. The game of social, strategic and physical mastery, Matt thinks, is the world’s greatest game. And this season there is a fun new “risk vs. reward” theme.

Exactly one week ago, Big Brother‘s Gentlemen alliance — that is, the team-up of Kyland and Xavier — seemed as rock-solid as The Renegades, The Hitmen and other memorable male Bb duos before them.
Even after watching this show for the past 22 seasons, I would have had trouble believing that after Kyland saved Xavier from the block last week, their relationship in the house would end just seven days later with 1) Kyland getting evicted, 2) Xavier serving as Hoh when Kyland got booted, and 3) Kyland antagonizing Xavier so much on his way out that I honestly thought a fistfight was about to break out.

Survivor is back, and the granddaddy of reality competition series wasted zero time before going straight for the jugular. After the players learned they’d be given no food whatsoever — and that the game would be shortened to 26 days (aka Survivor on speed) — an exhausting immunity challenge sent not one but two groups to Tribal Council, thus claiming Season 41’s first pair of victims. In the latest TV show ratings, CBS’ Survivor and Fox’s Masked Singer tied for the Wednesday demo win, while NBC’s Chicago Fire delivered the night’s largest audience.
Over on CBS, Survivor returned to 6 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating (and a TVLine reader grade of “B-“), off only a bit from its Fall 2019 averages. Big Brother (2.9 mil/0.6) got no boost, though, and in fact slipped.

AC/DC’s video for “Realize,” the thunderous opening track of the hard rockers’ recent Power Up album, presents a closeup of the band in dizzying detail. The camera gets right in Brian Johnson’s face and perches on the headstock of Angus Young’s guitar as they rock out in front of Young’s deafening wall of Marshall amps — and then it spins in circles on the floor, aiming up at the Aussie hellraisers. Each frame of the clip is disorienting.

Over 40 years after “Highway to Hell,” AC/DC take another “deadly trip” in their new animated video for “Demon Fire,” the latest single off the rockers’ Power Up.
The “Demon Fire” visual first premiered within the game Fortnite, an appropriate venue as the clip itself is modeled after video games, with a tricked-out car racing down a desolate highway to hell, squaring off against biker gangs and swarms of police cars while leaving a trail of pyrotechnics in its wake. (AC/DC themselves appear in billboards briefly seen as the car tears down the road.

Two days before AC/DC release their latest LP Power Up, the band has unleashed the album’s opening salvo “Realize.”
As with first single “Shot in the Dark,” “Realize” proves that the six-year hiatus, health woes, lineup changes, and deaths haven’t diluted AC/DC’s trademark sound, with Power Up’s opening track a foot-stomping rocker propelled by Angus Young’s unmistakeable riffs.
“Realize,” like every song on Power Up, is credited to Angus and his late brother, AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who died in 2017.

When LeBron James left the Cavs to sign with the Lakers earlier this month, he left a chunk of change on the table. Under NBA rules, Cleveland could have rained down more than $200 million over five years on the man many consider the best player in the league. Los Angeles was allowed to pony up a mere $154 million over four years.
But there’s a great equalizer on the West Coast: Hollywood, where top current NBA stars aren’t just the face of films; they’re producers and financiers too. It didn’t start with Curry, who just formed his own production company after signing a multiyear development pact with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
This is a different kind of game, but one that’s just as appealing to those who are ultracompetitive. Let’s call them the NBA’s Media All-Stars.

The list of executive producers who have worked on films in Fox Sports’ “Magnify” documentary series reads like the lineup of an all-star revival of the old MTV show “Rock N’ Jock.” EPs on previous and forthcoming installments include LeBron James, Common, Dwyane Wade, Chance the Rapper, and Kevin Durant. The newest addition to the series, director Andrew Renzi’s “They Fight,” boasts Drew Brees, Tony Parker, Derrick Brooks, and Michael Finley in exec producer roles.
Fox announced the acquisition of “They Fight” last week. The film tells the story of an after-school boxing program in Washington D.C.’s Ward 8 — one of the city’s most economically challenged areas. The movie fits the mission of the “Magnify” series — leveraging the power of star athletes and entertainers, as well as Fox’s television platforms, to push eyeballs to off-the-beaten path socially conscious sport stories.

Travel Channel has greenlighted Mysteries and Myths with Megan Fox (working title), a four-episode hourlong series starring Megan Fox, who also serves as the co-creator and producer. Production will begin in June, with a premiere slated for later this year.
Fox has been obsessed since an early age with the history of ancient cultures, people and places — always questioning their “documented” story, Travel Channel said. Now she is embarking on an epic and personal journey across the globe, where archaeologists and experts will re-examine history, asking tough questions and challenging the conventional wisdom that has existed for centuries. The series will delve into some of the greatest mysteries of time, including whether Amazon women really existed or if the Trojan War was real.
“When it comes to debunking the myths around some of our greatest historical mysteries, Megan Fox’s passion for discovering the truth is just visceral,” said Henry Schleiff,...
