Gotham yet again had a little too much going for in "A Beautiful Darkness", but it managed to streamline most of it and make use of the most important and interesting plot points in the end. Moreover, this episode could have very well been a half-satisfying season finale, given that the show is already showing signs of wrapping up. Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) finally caught a glimpse of his dark future, Ivy (Peyton List) made the most of her screen time with a powerful showcase of her intentions and powers. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and of course Cameron Monaghan's Jerome "Joker" also managed to produce entertaining and disturbing moments together. It was a bit of a shame that Gordon's (Ben McKenzie) didn't get much time to shine, but a nod to his future self was appreciated anyways. All in all, Gotham managed to produce yet another well-paced and cleverly crammed episode that packed enough easter-eggs to entertain thoroughly.
