Good Enough
PennyReviews10 February 2019
This movie showed a more realisti part of the whole gang universe. The SWORD area is not as isolated from the rest of the world as it seemed. Politicians are still a danger to them, as well as their misdeeds. Tragedy takes place and it thinckens the plot, to lead to the final battle, where everyone comes together for a common cause. The fights were top notch and well excecuted, the performances great, the settings and costumes escellent and the soundtrack just what it was needed to accompany those scenes.

Not Just A Fighting Movie

At first I thought that this film would only tell about the world of gangsters and fights, but after arriving at the third part of the film, I finally realized that fighting is not the main point of the entire film trilogy. Brotherhood and friendship, the courage to sacrifice in order to protect the area where they live using various methods that they know, can, and believe.

The film trilogy is also about growing up through the choices and problems that come and go. I think the fight scenes are just the way that the director and scriptwriter used to convey the true essence of the stories in this film trilogy. Good movie.

Finished Beautifully after End of Sky

Warning: Spoilers
After the emotional foundation built in End of Sky where all five SWORD Gangs made the resolute choice to collectively defend their town against Kuryu, they are confronted with the consequence of that choice here in Final Mission as every Gang is utterly beaten by the much more powerful and experienced Yakuzas.

The franchise built towards this conclusion, every Gang since the Story of Sword had once at been each other's throat, distrust and uncooperative as demonstrated in their unwillingness to work together in End of Sky, they eventually rallied and demonstrated personal growth in their ideals at the conclusion of End of Sky as they rally behind Cobra and Sannoh Rengokai.

That was the choice the characters made and to see the futility of their fight and the hopeless of it is a gut-punch as Rude's leader, Smokey sacrifices himself to save his people and the gang rally together one last time and find hope to end what they started.

End of Sky and Final Mission wrapped up the direction of the Story of Sword nicely. Nothing explosive, nothing flashy, just a bunch of delinquents and gangsters who strayed from their old paths to fight for their town and succeeded in the end.
