Confused
stephlhernandez7 November 2021
What I saw was a white girl objectifying a young black man and in her final edit, portrayed him with all the usual racial stereotypes when in fact he had presented himself in quite the opposite way from the beginning of their relationship. Couldn't finish it so there may have been some redeeming ending to the film but after an hour of fairly flat narrative with virtually no dialogue, it was difficult to stay interested.

British indie
SnoopyStyle13 August 2023
Leah (Lily Newmark) uses her camera to film her everyday life. She falls for Benji (Ola Orebiyi). He's a poor black boy. His white friend Archie is sliding into drug troubles. Leah uses footage of Benji's street life into a film exhibition. The young couple starts pushing the boundaries into more troubling footage.

This indie is a first full length film for directors Darragh Carey and Bertrand Desrochers. I say full length in the most loose way. It's barely 75 minutes. The plot is thin. It doesn't have enough meat on the bone. What it does have is three pretty interesting performers. Lily Newmark is the most experienced and is suited to play quiet intensity looking for trouble. The guys have an interesting chemistry. The script just needs more to exceed its indie limitations.

The story arc is a flat line

If you like watching ordinary people do ordinary things for two hours, this is the film for you. Or you could just go sit at a coffee shop and stare at the tables. The effect will be the same. This movie maker might have a future if he pays attention to his mistakes, but he's not there yet. You can't make a good movie out of a bad script.

Total and utter trash.

Camera work was hilarious, I'm not sure if there was a scriptwriter, acting was not acting.

Best way to have fun watching this is by playing idiot bingo, write down 40 words - phrases or slang terms that you've heard from the great uneducated, and Mark them off during this dross film. I won after 5 minutes with "bruv fam yegetme innit blud brapbrap yafeelme Mandem feds trippin pussyole feel-ya"

Seriously do not bother.

The performances is second rate the cinematography is garbage wow waste.

Do your self a favor and spend your time with something joyful, a book watching grass grass grow, watch paint dry, try ordeing chinese food from a old greek hippie, shave a cat, anything but this... life is short.

Not horrible at all, had a wonderful evening

Great performances all around, especially from the lead actor! For a first feature film, the quality of images is stunning : the story could have been somewhat tighter (the film felt a little bit short) but it is nonetheless a project showing a lot of potential from the people involved in it.

Just saw this film at the Schlingel International Film Festival. It is well worth checking out! Great performances and the directing/storytelling is captivating! Refreshing to see a story about Brixton, acted by some of the residents of Brixton. Fully authentic!

Pretty breathless stuff. Amazing performances, they unearthed a few gems here with the casting.

Story hit pretty hard and was interesting look at the cost of content.

Some man won't get it, but some man be dumb.
