First off, I'm assuming the other two reviews are by participants and/or are done by folks in connection with the film, as many of the things they state in the reviews simply NEVER HAPPENED! It was somebody's idea to write some completely random, untruthful stuff that would urge people to watch this. Sadly, I took the reviews as truth and watched the entire film, simply waiting for said facts to occur.
It certainly wasn't the worst independent movie I've seen, but the writer/director tried to pull off WAY more than he was capable of. The movie has barely anything to do with the farmer, as Rex is the main character from start to finish.
My initial thought was that this would be more of a straightforward slasher flick with lots of blood and gore, especially with one of the other two reviews stating how gory it was. Sadly, this was not the truth. Had the story stuck to that simple plot idea It would have felt less disjointed. Instead, with the focus being on Rex and his slow descent in to crazed fear (up until the last 10 minutes), all the schizophrenic gobble-dee-gook that he suffers is the writer's attempt at making a cerebral film. Well...it didn't work. The acting is nowhere near good enough to pull this off, the script is amateurish (at best), and the cinematography is film class 101. In other words, this is truly the definition of independent B cinema.
There is almost no blood and/or gore despite what an obviously paid reviewer stated- just a couple of quick instances - and overall it moves extremely slow, as the focus on Rex is just woefully drawn out.
It's rare that I truly don't like a flick, as I can find redeeming value in just about anything, but this is one film I wish I hadn't wasted my time on. They tried to do waaaaay too much with a movie that didn't even get its basics covered. Nowhere close.
I would probably rate this as a 2, maybe a 3, but am selecting 1 to bring down the obviously faked reviews that unfairly raise the overall score.
