As always ,, with each mid-season finale they leave you stunned with jaw dropped to the ground ..
Aktham_Tashtush17 November 2017
For four years going on the same style of presenting the series ,, counting down days till they hit us with the big shocker, with a new dead body in a season or mid-season finale .. yet still with each season it all looks fresh and genuine.

The plot raised to level of tense we hoped for ,, trying to avenge the death of Wes .. Bonnie confronting Annalise ,, the gang are on their secret/not secret any more mission to bankrupt Laural's father company ,, and they showed us that the detective arrested Asher on an unexplained escalation .. they definitely left us more to long for on the second half of the season.

The soundtrack were always sensational ,, but my !! here the songs were so engaging , i believe i googled almost all the songs this episode :D

I gotta give it in here to Conrad Ricamora "Oliver" ,, i mean his acting was so on point ,, the reaction when he saw the dead body was so real ,, and actually all through this season he was a key character ,, applause.

That last scene of "Live Live Live" was just a jaw dropper ,, i went on repeating with Annalise ,, it was an indescribable amount of emotions.

Final thought ... This series have won no Awards other than that Viola Davis Emmy, i believe it damn well deserve some more recognition.

The Best

Warning: Spoilers
This is The best episode in this show. I think I had a little heart attack every five minutes. And the final scene "live, live, live" Oh My Eeffing God!!! They should all get Golden Globes, I mean they way they act makes you feel everything is real, you feel the rush, the sadness, the desperation. It was an amazing episode, thank you Shonda Rhimes and everybody else for giving us excellent television.

Depending on how you look at it, this could be the best mid season/winter finale
lukas-ingel21 November 2017
(No spoilers ahead.)

Since this episode aired, I've been thinking about what MAKES the best mid season/winter finale, and why? It's all a matter of personal opinions of course, but then I truly realized that each mid season/winter finale has had its own style. That – the way I look at it – is completely the reason it is so hard to choose a favorite. Is it... ... S1xE09: The jaw-dropping game-changer? ... S2xE09: The chaotic insanity? ... S3xE09: Thee haunting intensity? ... S4xE08: The disturbing thrill-ride?

For me, they are too different to choose one favorite. But I will have to say: This episode affected me more than any other. It was truly disturbing, one thing you could only know once you've witnessed it till the end. Throughout it – actually from the very first moment in my experience – it got the heart beating unusually fast and the pulse just raised. It will be interesting and nerve-racking to see where the 'maybe-death' in the episode will lead, as well as all the other tense story lines.

A special shout out to actress Karla Souza for her acting in this episode. Viola Davis has her moments in every single episode, and definitely this as well, but Karla just brings it to the table with a thrilling and disturbing performance I so hope could bring home some awards for her and the show!

No words

Warning: Spoilers
I am in absolute awe. There are no words to describe how unbelievable this episode was. Karla Souza and Viola Davis had performances that were easily worthy of awards. The 3 minute long scene of Laurel in the elevator was one of the few scenes ever that made me cry. This was one of those episodes that when it ended you just sit there and watch the credits roll. Absolutely unbelievable.

Overall, I have to say that this is the best episode of any type of television that I have ever seen. I kid you not.

One word - Amazing!!
sumairjunaid1 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
What a nail-biting mid -season finale to the current season of this amazingly addictive series.

To be honest, after the end of last season I felt that this show will become less interesting and the writers will now keep on dragging it to the point of it becoming boring, but this season - to my surprise, was no less than a roller coaster ride.

Coming to season finale, especially the last few minutes, it literally keeps you on the edge of having a nervous break-down your self. Special praises for strong performances by Laurel & Annalise.

Cant wait for January

Breathtaking

I normally never write reviews. But I am so impressed of this episode that I had to write something. Breathlessly looked at this time. The last 10 minutes are exciting, fascinating, unexpected, renewed, well acted and so on. And now quickly to the next episode!

Intense from Beginning to End
Hitchcoc3 June 2019
So much action! So many questions waiting to be answered. Laurel walks into the imperfect storm, her main adversary an elevator. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there are insane things happening. Of course, the crazy plan has gone haywire, but what are the details. Connor is right. They needed to realize that at some point they needed to let go. It was sad about Wes, but really bad people with incredible power are in the mix. Now what?

One of the most powerful episodes
kalinass27 June 2022
Not that there is a single bad episode of this show, but this particular one is my personal favourite. It's intense, well-scripted, well-acted, soundtrack is on point and everything is so perfectly put together that for 45 minutes you become a part of all the drama and action. Simply amazing.

Yup

Warning: Spoilers
This episode it's excellent because it shows that the seed named Annalise has sprouted: chaos, death and deviancy are the effects of her spore (and she is the product of a determinate social context, but that is another story).

Also the buildup is insane and of course he dies like that, he deserves it.

Still below par
BillClinton4812 September 2021
Its true, season 4 is rather disapointing so far. The first 4 episodes were total garbage, with way too much gay drama/sex in them, not to mention no plot what so ever. . But then the plot ever so slowly got going. There is hope yet for this season.

Traditionally episodes 8 and 9 are some of the best in the series, until this one., Suposedly the best in the series so far, according to other reviewers. Well not in my opinion. Compared to some of the magnificent episodes of previous season this is rather mediocre.

Suspension of belief

Four seasons of implausibly comes to a head here. Why don't these writers have legal and medical consultants on staff? Give me a break.

Getting worse
Burning_Out28 January 2021
Currently binging this and loved the first 3 seasons but this season is going from bad to worse. The storyline and events with Laurel and Michaela are just ridiculous.

Live Live Live

Warning: Spoilers
The fact that prior to my score this had a 9.9/10 is insane. I get that Shondaland shows are not for me, but this was a really mediocre hour of television. After all of the build a minor and annoying character finally bit the dust.

We did not get Viola Davis' best work during that sequence in the elevator too. She is capable of much better.
