Two of the highest-profile independents on the Spanish-language movie scene, Colombia’s 64-a Films and Spain’s Latido Films, are teaming to develop, produce and distribute premium TV and platform series.
Playing to their complementary expertise, Latido and 64-a will co-develop and co-produce titles, with 64-a overseeing physical production and Latido spearheading distribution.
Much of 64-a and Latido’s first development slate will be presented to potential partners at MipCancun, which kicks off Tuesday evening in Mexico, running Nov. 16-19.
Designed by 64-a founder Diego F. Ramírez and Juan Torres, Latido Films director of sales, the production alliance builds on the partners’ collaboration on two of the most successful of recent movie titles: Laura Mora’s feature debut “Killing Jesus,” a fest favorite sold to 40 countries; and Carlos Moreno’s “Lavaperros,” a Netflix Top 10 hit across Latin America.

Director Peter Webber is preparing a six-part series sequel to his Colombia-set teen drama “Pickpockets” (“Maestros del robo”), which Netflix launched globally in 2018. The film tells the story of aspiring teenage thieves learning how to be successful pickpockets.
“Apparently, it did really well amongst teenagers,” Webber told Variety. “They asked us to do a sequel, so at the moment we are working on six one-hour episodes following up the main characters.”
Netflix is not believed to be officially attached to the sequel, which is still in development stages.
It’s understood that the project will have a broader scope than the film. “As the series develops, the locations change,” Webber said. “It’s a bit more international than the last one.”
British native Webber is currently at the El Gouna Film Festival, where he is serving as jury president of the Feature Narrative Competition section. The jury also comprises iconic Egyptian actor Asser Yassin,...

The next Terminator movie continues to come together with the casting of three relative unknowns. Deadline reports that three rising Latinx stars -- Gabriel Luna, Natalia Reyes and Diego Boneta -- will join franchise vets Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. Luna, who is best known for playing Ghost Rider on Marvel's TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will play a new model of the Terminator. Reyes (Netflix's Pickpockets) is presumed to be one of two female leads. Boneta (Rock of Ages) is playing an unknown role. With this latest news, we're starting to see part of the bigger picture of the reboot. Not that there needs to be, but there is likely a reason for three of the main cast members to be of Latin American descent. We're still short on all...

Luna and Reyes join a cast that includes Mackenzie Davis as a "soldier-assassin from the future," Diego Boneto as Dani's brother, with Linda Hamilton reprising her role as Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger coming back as...
